Heavy rainfall continues to lash Bihar for the past 24 hours, leading to widespread devastation across the state. Towns and villages are submerged, prompting the closure of schools in districts like Siwan, Gopalganj, Rohtas, and Chhapra. A red alert has been issued for at least two dozen districts, including the capital city. The situation has severely impacted transportation, with roads flooded and agricultural crops destroyed. Both road and rail transport have been disrupted, and several flights to Patna have been diverted. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts inclement weather for the next three days, with a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal moving northwestward, bringing thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy to very heavy rainfall across the region. Red alerts have been issued for specific districts on October 5th and 6th, including Sitamarhi, Sheohar, East Champaran, West Champaran, and Gopalganj. The Disaster Management Department, Government of Bihar, and the Bihar Weather Service Center, Patna, have issued an alert for heavy rainfall, lightning, and strong winds of 40-60 km/hr from October 4th to 7th. The department has also issued a red alert for Muzaffarpur and East Champaran, and an orange alert for Patna, Vaishali, Gaya, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Aurangabad, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Munger, Bhojpur, Siwan, Saran, Arwal, Jehanabad, Madhubani, Khagaria, and Saharsa districts. The department has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities.

The weather in North India is undergoing a transition towards winter, leading to shifts in climatic conditions. These changes are affecting residents of Delhi-NCR, with many districts experiencing overcast skies today. The sun is intermittently hidden behind the clouds. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an update on the weather forecast for today, including the possibility of rain. This update covers the expected weather patterns in the NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab.

The monsoon season has concluded in North India. Weather conditions are evolving across several states. According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi-NCR can anticipate cloudy skies with light rain and thunderstorms, particularly during the morning and afternoon. This is attributed to the influence of a western disturbance, and some districts in the NCR may also experience light drizzle.

Light showers are anticipated in 33 districts of Uttar Pradesh. The maximum temperature in the NCR is predicted to range from 32 to 34 degrees Celsius today. Uttar Pradesh is expected to receive light to moderate rain today, with showers forecasted in 33 districts until October 5th. The Meteorological Department recommends that individuals consult real-time rainfall updates before venturing out.

Clear weather is expected in Haryana today, while scattered rain is possible in certain areas of Punjab. Eastern Madhya Pradesh may experience light to moderate rain. Cities such as Bhopal and Indore will have dry weather. The Meteorological Department anticipates sunny conditions overall.

Heavy rainfall across Delhi-NCR on Thursday significantly impacted the Vijayadashami celebrations. The downpour disrupted Ramlila performances, causing pandals to collapse and effigies of Ravana to become soaked. Consequently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s planned Ravan Dahan ceremony in Delhi had to be cancelled.

The rain dampened the festive spirit, disappointing the thousands who had gathered at Ramlila grounds to witness the burning of Ravana. Prime Minister Modi was scheduled to attend the Vijayadashami celebrations at IP Extension, but the event was called off due to the adverse weather. The Prime Minister was expected to arrive at the ceremony in the Patparganj area of East Delhi around 6 pm. The rainfall forced the cancellation of his participation.

Preparations for Ravana’s effigy burning were underway at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, Bihar. However, heavy rain disrupted the event. The rain, accompanied by dark clouds, soaked the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnad, which were adorned with fireworks. The rain caused the effigies to become so waterlogged that Ravana’s head broke off before it could be burned.

The downpour dampened the spirits of the crowd. Those who came to witness the Dusshera celebrations at Gandhi Maidan were affected by the rain. People were seen running for shelter during the rain. Every year, Ravana Dahan is organized at Gandhi Maidan on the occasion of Vijayadashami, but this time the rain dampened the enthusiasm of the people.

The weather in Chhattisgarh is expected to change again today, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms predicted in many areas, and the possibility of lightning strikes in some places. According to the weather department, a low-pressure area is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal on October 1st, potentially bringing rain at the start of the new month.

In the past 24 hours, several locations in the Durg and Bastar divisions experienced rainfall, with heavy rainfall recorded in certain areas. The maximum temperature in Durg during this period was 31.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature in Pendra Road was 22 degrees Celsius.

Weather scientists indicate that a depression lies over south coastal Odisha, moving westward. This system may weaken as it progresses towards southern Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Additionally, a trough extends from south Odisha to Goa, passing through Telangana and northern Karnataka, at a height of 3.1 to 4.5 kilometers. There’s a possibility of a cyclonic circulation forming in the north Andaman Sea on September 30th, which could lead to the development of a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal on October 1st. This will likely increase rainfall activity in Chhattisgarh.

The weather department has issued alerts for several districts. Orange alerts have been issued for Balod, Rajnandgaon, Durg, Bemetara, and Kabirdham, with the forecast of moderate rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds (30-40 km/h). Yellow alerts have been issued for Sukma, Bijapur, Dantewada, Bastar, Narayanpur, Kondagaon, Kanker, Dhamtari, Gariaband, Mahasamund, Raipur, Baloda Bazar, Janjgir-Champa, Raigarh, Bilaspur, Korba, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Surajpur, Korea, and Balrampur, with the expectation of rain and strong winds.

The weather in the state is expected to change today, with rain likely in many places. The capital has been overcast since morning, and there has also been light drizzle. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain with thunderstorms in central and southern Chhattisgarh.

Alerts have been issued in several districts. There is a possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, and sudden strong winds (30-40 kmph) along with moderate rainfall in Gariaband, Mahasamund, Raipur, Baloda Bazar, Janjgir-Champa, Raigarh, Bilaspur, Korba, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Bemetara, Mungeli, Surguja, Surajpur, Korea, and Balrampur. An orange alert has been issued here. Meanwhile, Sukma, Bijapur, South Bastar Dantewada, Bastar, Narayanpur, Kondagaon, North Bastar Kanker, Dhamtari, Balod, Rajnandgaon, Gariaband, Mahasamund, Raipur, Baloda Bazar, Janjgir-Champa, Raigarh, Bilaspur, Korba, Jashpur, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Durg, Bemetara, Kabirdham, Mungeli, Surguja, Surajpur, Korea, and Balrampur are likely to receive moderate rainfall. A yellow alert has been issued in these districts.

The Meteorological Department reported that a low-pressure area is active over the coastal areas of Gangetic West Bengal, North Odisha, and the northwest Bay of Bengal. A cyclonic circulation is present in the upper air up to a height of approximately 7.6 kilometers and is expected to weaken in the next 24 hours. Two troughs are also associated with this system; the first trough extends from Gangetic West Bengal to Telangana at a height of 1.5 to 3.1 kilometers, while the second trough extends from Gangetic West Bengal to the south Maharashtra coast, passing through Odisha, South Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and North Interior Karnataka at a height of 4.5 to 5.8 kilometers.

Due to the influence of these weather systems, light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers are expected in many places in the state today. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning in some places. The main area of rainfall is expected to be central Chhattisgarh today.

According to weather experts, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjacent central Bay of Bengal on September 25. It is likely to move westwards. It is expected to intensify further and transform into a depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal, towards southern Odisha and north Andhra. It is expected to reach near the south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coast on September 27.
