  • Farmers should not have problem for seeds and fertilizers: Cooperation Minister Dr. Tekam

    Cooperation Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam has directed the officers to ensure adequate stock of fertilizers and seeds in the societies in view of the good rains and sowing of Kharif crops in the state. He said that Kharif sowing has started gaining momentum. In view of this, the farmers have started lifting the manure rapidly. Ensure continuous storage of all types of chemical fertilizers and seeds of Kharif crops in the societies so that farmers do not face any kind of problem. Cooperation Minister Dr. Tekam was reviewing the status of storage and distribution of fertilizers and seeds by taking a meeting of the officers of the Department of Cooperation in Mantralaya on Tuesday. Special Secretary Cooperatives and Registrar Cooperative Societies Shri Himshikhar Gupta, Markfed Managing Director Ms Kiran Kaushal, Apex Bank Managing Director KN Kande, OSD Avinash Srivastava were present in the review meeting. Additional registrars, joint registrars, deputy registrars and assistant registrars, chief executive officers of district cooperative central banks attended the meeting virtually.

    Against the target amount of Rs 5300 crore for the ongoing Kharif crops, short term agricultural loan distribution of 2039 crores has been done to 5 lakh 26 thousand 933 farmers till June 21, which is 38 percent of the target. The state government has set a target of distribution of 7 lakh 25 thousand metric tonnes of fertilizers for Kharif season through cooperatives, against which till June 21, 3 lakh 77 thousand 197 metric tonnes of fertilizers are stored in the godowns of cooperative societies and 2 lakh 31 thousand 720. The lifting of metric tonnes of fertilizers has been done among the farmers.

    In the review meeting, the officials informed that till June 21, the total storage of urea is one lakh 66 thousand 225 metric tonnes against one lakh 15 thousand 632 metric tonnes distribution to farmers, total storage of DAP is one lakh 479 metric tonnes and farmers 63 thousand 125 metric tonnes. Tonnes distribution, IFFCO’s total storage is 30 thousand 579 metric tons and 14 thousand 872 distribution to farmers, total storage of potash is 32 thousand 581 metric tons and 15 thousand 488 metric tons to farmers and total storage of superphosphate 47 thousand 333 metric tons and farmers 22 thousand 603 metric tonnes have been distributed. At present there is a stock of one lakh 45 thousand 477 metric tonnes of all types of fertilizers in the godowns of cooperative societies. In cooperative societies, 5 lakh 17 thousand 376 quintal certified seeds of Kharif crop have been stored and 3 lakh 29 thousand 245 quintal seeds have been distributed to the farmers.
