Following the implementation of GST 2.0, expectations arose for minor price adjustments in the automotive sector. However, these changes have turned out to be quite significant for several popular compact and subcompact sedans in India. From the city-friendly Honda Amaze to the premium Hyundai Verna, certain models have experienced such substantial reductions that they could influence buyers’ decisions. This presents not just a chance to save money for those considering a new sedan, but also a good time to re-evaluate their options.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire, India’s best-selling subcompact sedan, has become even more affordable. The ZXi Plus AMT variant saw the largest cut of ₹88,000, while other top variants saw reductions of at least ₹80,000. For those who were leaning towards a hatchback, the Dzire now presents a more practical upgrade, with a larger boot and the appearance of a real sedan, now with a lower price tag.

The Honda Amaze benefited significantly from GST 2.0. Its top ZX CVT petrol variant is now ₹1.20 lakh cheaper. Even the lower manual variants have seen reductions of ₹80,000-₹90,000. Already known for its ease of use in the city and reliable performance, the Amaze is now an even stronger value-for-money proposition. These changes could breathe new life into the Amaze, given Honda’s recent sales figures.

The Tigor, though often overlooked, presents noteworthy new prices. The XZ Plus CNG variant has a reduction of ₹81,000, while petrol and automatic variants have also become considerably more affordable.

The Hyundai Aura, frequently considered a feature-rich city sedan, also saw significant benefits from GST 2.0. Its SX Plus AMT variant is now ₹76,000 cheaper, while other CNG and manual variants have seen reductions of ₹70,000 or more. Positioned between the Grand i10 Nios and Verna, the Aura’s strength has always been the balance of compact size and sedan practicality, which the new prices further emphasize.

In the premium compact sedan segment, the Verna is also included in this list. Its top SX (O) Turbo DCT variant is now ₹60,000 cheaper, while other high-end variants have also seen reductions of over ₹50,000. Competing with established cars like the Honda City and Skoda Slavia, the new prices of the Verna could make buyers reconsider where true value lies.

Suzuki has refreshed its Ertiga MPV, responding to the growing demand in the 7-seater segment. The updates aim to keep the Ertiga competitive with rivals like the Carens and Triber. Key changes include a redesigned spoiler with black accents across all trims. The AC vents have been repositioned from the roof to the rear of the center console, and the third row now has independent vents with adjustable controls. Furthermore, USB-C charging ports have been added in the second and third rows for enhanced convenience. The Ertiga retains its 1.5-liter petrol engine, which produces 102 BHP and 136.8 Nm of torque, with transmission options including a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. A CNG option is available with the manual gearbox. Prices now start at Rs 8.80 lakh (Ex Showroom) following Post GST 2.0 reforms. The VXI CNG 5MT and the VXI 1.5L 5MT are positioned as the most affordable options, balancing price and features.

The implementation of the new GST 2.0 policy has led to reduced tax rates for automobiles in India. Automakers are passing these benefits on to consumers, resulting in price cuts across various vehicle segments. While the reductions span a wide range, from entry-level hatchbacks to luxury SUVs, the impact on the two-wheeler market is particularly noteworthy.

The GST rate cut, specifically for motorcycles under the 350cc category, from 38% to 18%, presents a significant advantage for budget-conscious buyers. This positive change is expected to make popular commuter motorcycles more affordable. Hero Splendor, Honda Activa, Bajaj Pulsar, TVS Apache, and Royal Enfield Classic 350 are poised to become more accessible, potentially encouraging first-time buyers and boosting sales, especially during the festive season. Specific discounts on these commuter bikes are detailed below:

[Table of Discounts]

For bikes above 350cc, the new GST policy places them in a different tax bracket. These bikes will now attract a 40% GST rate. This includes higher-end models in the 450cc to 650cc range. Discounts may vary by city and stock availability, the following are expected price reductions:

Following the implementation of GST 2.0, nearly all vehicle manufacturers have reduced the prices of their bikes and scooters. The new GST 2.0 came into effect from September 22, 2025. Suzuki Motorcycle India has particularly benefited, announcing model-wise GST benefits across its scooter and motorcycle portfolio.

The Suzuki Access and Avenis, along with other entry-level scooters, are among the most popular choices in the Indian market. Under the new GST 2.0, the Access now offers a GST benefit of ₹8,523, while the sporty Avenis has become cheaper by ₹7,823. The Burgman Street range, catering to buyers seeking maxi-scooter styling, will also see benefits.

Standard Burgman Street offers a profit of ₹8,373, while the Burgman Street EX has become cheaper by ₹9,798. This impact is even more pronounced in Suzuki’s motorcycle lineup. Significant tax savings are available on the Gixxer series, which includes the main motorcycles in the 150cc to 250cc segment. The Gixxer 150 is now cheaper by ₹11,520, while the fully-faired Gixxer SF offers a saving of ₹12,311.

The Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 come with a profit of approximately ₹16,525 and ₹18,024, respectively. Adventure enthusiasts will also benefit from GST 2.0, as Suzuki’s V-Strom SX offers a benefit of ₹17,982 in the domestic market.

These recent price cuts in the auto sector bring significant benefits to customers. Particularly for bikes and vehicles above 350cc, where prices were previously increasing, companies like Suzuki are making their products more value for money. This change not only provides buyers with affordable options but could also lead to a sharp rise in demand during the festive season.
