  • Qualcomm Reveals Snapdragon 888 Benchmark Scores, Posts Significant Performance Gains Over Predecessor

Qualcomm announced its latest flagship chipset for next year’s flagship smartphones earlier this month during the Snapdragon Summit. The Snapdragon 888 5G chipset is said to power many Android flagships next year. Now, the American chipmaker has revealed several benchmark scores for the Snapdragon 888 chipset from benchmarking platforms like AnTuTu, Geekbench, and more. The numbers released by Qualcomm show that the Snapdragon 888 SoC has posted impressive results in benchmark tests. The company usually allows third-party reviewers to have hands-on access to the latest Snapdragon reference design. However, the coronavirus pandemic forced the company to collate the results across leading industry benchmark testing system.

Qualcomm has provided benchmark scores for the Snapdragon 888 based on the CPU, GPU, and AI use cases for platforms including AnTuTu, Geekbench, GFX Bench, AITuTu, Procyon, MLPerf, and Ludashi AIMark. The Snapdragon 888 SoC posted significant gains in benchmark scores as compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 865. On AnTuTu, the Snapdragon 888 scored an average of 735,439 score, higher than SNapdragon 865’s 541,899 points score on the same platform last year. On Geekbench, Snapdragon 888 posted a 1,135 points single-core score and a 3,794 points score for multi-core performance. This is above the Snapdragon 865’s 926 single core and 3,438 multi-core score on Geekbench. In other benchmark tests as well, the latest flagship chipset from Qualcomm showed impressive gains in early benchmark scores as compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 865.

  • Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max lives up to the hype

Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max is the biggest Apple mobile upgrade to date. Also, except for the A14 Bionic chipset processor, it has better hardware in almost all departments including screen, camera, and battery capacity compared to the other three iPhone 12 series models. Its price starts at Rs 1,29,900

Does the iPhone 12 Pro Max deliver the goods and is worth the hefty price-tag? Here are my thoughts As said before, iPhone 12 Pro Max is a real giant of a mobile. It is wider and taller than the predecessor. The weight of the device is a whopping 226g, almost a quarter of a kg, and is really hard to operate with a single hand.

It has a strong and glossy stainless steel rail with a flat design wherein the display on the front and the glass cover on the back fit flush with the frame. It has an additional Ceramic Shield, which is said to be the sturdiest protective gear for the mobile screen in the industry.

One advantage of having a massive 6.7-inch screen is, it offers a great viewing experience. The iPhone 12 Pro Max’s Super Retina XDR display with True Tone technology is rich with 2778x1284p resolution and offers max brightness up to 1,200 nits, and a pixel density of 458ppi (pixels per inch). It is just perfect for watching HDR content and play graphics-intense games.

  • Biden May Be Hard On China Too; Trump May Run Again In 2024: Chinese Economist

Even as tensions between the United States and China continue to worsen under the current administration of outgoing President Donald Trump over a score of issues, a leading economist has said that the incoming Joe Biden administration might further impose sanctions on Beijing, that could adversely affect its economy next year.

As per reports, David Li Daokui, a professor at Tsinghua University and a former adviser to China’s central bank, has warned that economic planners should consider the possibility of a Trump comeback in 2024 and added that President-elect Biden might continue his predecessor’s “hard-line approach” towards China.

The economist claimed it would be much easier to communicate with Biden’s team than Trump’s administration, with whom it has locked horns ever since the outbreak of the pandemic. However, he also warned that China should be prepared for Trump’s possible return in 2024. “It is very likely [that Trump will run again], he is still very healthy,” Li said.

A Chinese government advisor had also stated that China must ‘drop the illusion’ that its relations with the US will improve automatically under Biden’s administration and asked Beijing to be prepared for a ‘tough stance’ from Washington

Zheng Yongnian, the Dean of the Advanced Institute of Global and Contemporary China Studies, advised that the Chinese government should utilise every opportunity to mend ties with the US.

“The good old days are over… the cold war hawks in the US have been in a highly mobilised state for several years, and they will not disappear overnight,” Zheng said in a recent interview.

During elections, Biden had pledged that he would force China “to play by the international rules” regarding trade, treatment of foreign companies, and its actions in the South China Sea.

  • Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami Not To Play Last 2 T20Is

The Indian cricket team is currently in Australia for the impending India vs Australia 2020 series. The players arrived at Sydney on November 12 and began with their training sessions a few days later. Virat Kohli and co. are scheduled to play three ODIs, three T20Is and four Test matches from November 27 till January 19 next year.

According to sources close to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Indian pace spearheads Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami are unlikely to feature in all six of the upcoming limited-overs matches ‘Down Under’. The three-match ODI series will be played between November 27 and December 2 and they will be followed by a set of three T20I matches from December 4 and 8. Interestingly, a three-day tour match (December 6-8) between Australia A and India A will be coinciding with the final two T20Is.

The sources claim that the Indian team management will be looking to balance out the workload of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami. It is being said that the team’s priority is to make them fit and available for the upcoming four-match Test series, which is why they will be rotated throughout the preceding six limited-overs international matches. It is also likely that the two pacers will be made to skip the final two T20Is in order to play the tour match at the Drummoyne Oval on the same dates.

  • Peru Elects Manuel Merino As New President Amid Political Turmoil

Peru on Tuesday, November 10, swore-in the head of Congress Manuel Merino as its new President after his predecessor was controversially ousted. Political turmoil intensified in the country following the Merino’s surprise move a day earlier to remove President Martín Vizcarra. He was recently accused of trying to secure the military’s support for a congressional effort to boot Vizcarra out over unproven corruption allegations.

The former head of Congress and businessman Manuel Merino placed his hand on a Bible and swore to carry out the remainder of the current presidential term, which is set to expire in July of next year. Merino then wore the red and white presidential sash while wearing a face mask and stood as the nation’s anthem was played.

Meanwhile, Merino’s swearing-in was met with protests on the streets of Peru’s capital a day after Congress voted to oust popular President Martín Vizcarra, who had campaigned against corruption. Peruvians widely suspected the legislators and decried Vizcarra’s removal as an apparent power grab. Further, the analysts warned that the country could be thrown into a new period of instability at the same time as it fights with the worst coronavirus outbreaks. Furthermore, the riot police blocked hundreds of protesters against Merino who banged pots and pans as he was sworn into office.
