  • Theft at district court complex in Rajouri, ASI among 5 cops suspended

    JAMMU: Some seized articles and case property were stolen from the district court complex in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri, prompting the authorities to suspend five police personnel including an officer, and detain some suspects.

    Officials said some thieves broke the locks of the ‘Malkhana’ of the district court complex in Rajouri last night and decamped with the items.

    They said an FIR has been registered in the case and investigation started.

    Police have analysed the crime scene with the assistance of a forensic team, and are also analysing technical evidence, they said, adding some suspects have been rounded-up for questioning.

    Rajouri Senior Superintendent of Police Amritpal Singh suspended ASI Tariq Mehmood, SgCt Mohd Shafiq, and Special Police Officers Ghulam Nabi, Mohd Munshi and Murtaza Khan for dereliction of duties.

    An inquiry has also been initiated, they added, adding a breakthrough is expected very soon.

    The inquiry will be conducted by Rajouri deputy superintendent of police.

  • Petition filed for out-of-turn promotion to police personnel involved in encounter

    A petition has been filed in the High Court for not giving out-of-turn promotions to the police personnel involved in the Naxal operation. After hearing the case, the court ordered the petitioner to consider giving an out-of-turn within 90 days.

    Kubera Sinha, a resident of village Jodhpur in Churia tehsil of Rajnandgaon district, was posted as constable (constable) in STF, Baghera, District Durg. During the above posting, he was accompanied by other police personnel of STF, Baghera along with Dilip Wasnik (Platoon Commander), Manish Sharma (Assistant Platoon Commander), Mannaram (Principal Constable), Bahadur Singh Marawi (Principal Constable), a Naxal operation in Dhanbadra, District Kabirdham.     In the said Naxal operation, a Naxalite was Encountered by all the police personnel. After the said Naxal operation, the other police employees were promoted to higher posts by the Director General of Police (DGP). But Kuber Sinha was not given the out-of-turn promotion. Furious with this, Kuber Sinha filed a writ petition through High Court Advocate Abhishek Pandey before High Court Bilaspur. An argument was presented before the High Court by advocate Abhishek Pandey that a Naxalite was involved in the Naxal operation along with other police employees Dilip Wasnik, Manish Sharma, Mannaram, Bahadur Singh Maravi of petitioner Kubera Sinha STF Baghera.

  • PM Modi expresses gratitude; pay tributes to police personnel martyred in the line of duty

    Prime Miniter Narendra Modi today (October 21) expressed his gratitude to police personnel and their families all across India. He also paid his tributes to all the police personnel martyred in the line of duty. He further said that their sacrifice and service would always be remembered.

    Indian Police personnel were responsible for manning the 2,500 mile long border of India with Tibet until the autumn of 1959.

  • G’gram police to get 25 PCR vehicles

    In an order to reduce response time and ensure police presence on city roads, the Gurugram Police  will soon get  25 police control room (PCR) vans donated by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG).

    These vans (Maruti Suzuki Ertiga) equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) to track the location of police personnel, sirens, flashlights, masks, reflectors, night vision, night jackets, torches, first-aid boxes and other essential police accessories.

    The figure for such vehicles will be increased by 100. Soon the district all police stations will get two PCR vans each, an official said.

    Expressing his views about dial 100 Commissioner of police K K Rao said, “When a person in distress dials 100, the exact location of the caller is identified immediately, and police station within the jurisdiction of the location of the call is intimated and action will be taken within 5 to 10 minutes”.

    He explained that a GPS system identifies the nearest location of the Police Emergency Response vehicle and the police are able to reach the caller within the prescribed time.

    “We just want to improve police presence on city roads and decrease police response time. It is an improved version of earlier systems which gives minute details about route followed, distance and area covered (in km), duration of stay at any location during the day, details about police official riding the bike, PCR vans with his contact number, it will help to reach the crime scene at a specific time, current and past locations, points checked by them etc,” Rao said.

    These PCR vans have been connected to the police control room. So that the nearest PCR riders can reach on time and help victims. Each van has their own particular number along with rider contact number and same will be monitored at

    police commissioner’s office. To track the location of cops a special screen will be installed at the Police Commissioner’s office.

    Meanwhile, the department has identified the points which the police personnel will patrol and these are DLF area, Sushant Lok, South City, MG Road, Leisure Valley Park, Gurudwara Road, Rajiv Chowk,  Iffco Chowk, Shankar Chowk, Sector-14, Sadar Bazaar, Metro Stations, Bus Stand and Railway station.

    As of now, the department has 208 bikes riders and

    144 PCRs in which 63 Gypsy, 26 Sumo, 21 Bolero and 34 Tavera.
