  • PM to deliver inaugural address at FICCI’s 93rd AGM, annual convention today

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the inaugural address of FICCI’s 93rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Annual Conference at 11 am on Saturday through video conferencing.

    The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Virtual FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) Annual Expo 2020 on the same day. FICCI Annual Expo 2020 will start from December 11 and will continue for a period of one year. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the theme of this year’s annual conference is “Apostle India”. The event will see the participation of many ministers, bureaucrats, captains of industry, diplomats, international experts and other prominent publishers.

    This conference will give various stakeholders an idea of ​​the implications of Kovid-19 on the economy, the reforms being undertaken by the government and the path forward for the Indian economy. The virtual expo will provide exhibitors from all over the world the opportunity to showcase their products and advance their business prospects.

  • Lebanon PM Hassan Diab Charged Over Beirut Blast Along With Three Former Ministers

    Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister and at least three ex-ministers have been indicted by the court on charges of negligence in relation to the deadly explosion at a Beirut port that killed more than 200, wounded 6,000, and rendered thousands homeless. Lebanese PM Hassan Diab, however, told the state-run press that he had been transparent and his “hands are clean.” 

    Former finance minister Ali Hassan Khalil, as well as former ministers of public works, Ghazi Zeiter and Youssef Fenianos, have also been charged by the Lebanese prosecutor Judge Fadi Sawwan in a probe. Diab had also allegedly garnered Hezbollah and its allies’ backing after Prime Minister Saad Hariri resigned due to the mass anti-government demonstrations post the blasts. 

    In a statement issued by Prime Minister Diab’s office, the lawmakers claimed that Judge Sawwan was violating the constitution bypassing the parliament, adding that the PM had turned in all the details and information related to the blast in a file, maintaining transparency. “Hassan Diab will not allow the premiership to be targeted by any party,” the statement read.

    Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that India is witnessing drastic change under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and today it is now among the top countries of the world.

    “The world is looking at India and it’s time that India achieve its right place in the world. But, this can be possible only when we actively contribute to nation’s development,” CM Yogi said. CM Yogi advised youths to become leader and not follower. He also urged them to become an asset and not a burden in India’s growth story.

    Chief Minister was speaking at the 88th foundation week programme of the Maharana Pratap Education Council (MPEC) on Thursday.

    He said “people should make themselves counted for the society and this is only possible when educational institutions work with a team spirit. People associated with the MPEC will have to work continuously for the betterment of themselves, the institution and the entire state and set the centenary year as a target for this.”

    CM Yogi said that instead of becoming followers, people should become leaders and set an example. He said that this has also been the aim of the national education policy and if everyone works with this aim, the MPEC will become the best educational institution in north India.

    “In the testing times of the global corona pandemic crisis, the extraordinary work, led by our PM, was only possible with the help of technique and people should also get associated with technology and make better use of it,” said CM Yogi.

  • Coronavirus Vaccination Drive To Begin From Dec 27, Says Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu

    Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday said that the country will start a coronavirus vaccination drive from December 27 onward as the first batch of Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine arrived in Tel Aviv. With a population of over 88 million people, Israel received the first of 80 million doses it had ordered from pharmaceutical giants Pfizer and BioNTech. Netanyahu, while overseeing the unloading of the shipment from a cargo plane, said that the country’s health services are capable of vaccinating 60,000 people per day.

    Netanyahu added that a “much bigger” cargo is expected to arrive on Thursday, December 10. The Israeli Prime Minister urged every eligible person in the country to get vaccinated as he vowed to take the first shot himself in order to clear any doubts that people might be having regarding vaccines. The shipment arrived a day before the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, which is a festival of lights. Netanyahu said that the arrival of the vaccine has brought great light to Israel. 

    Pfizer and BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine has already earned approval in the United Kingdom, which became the first Western country on Tuesday to start inoculating people outside a trial setting. Canada’s health regulators have approved the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. The American and the German firm, who have developed the vaccine together, are seeking approval in the United States as well, where the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is expected to grant emergency use authorisation in the next couple of days.

    Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi has decided not to celebrate her birthday in support of farmers’ agitation against the farm laws and COVID-19 situation in the country.

    According to top sources in the party, Congress General Secretary Organisation has communicated to all the in-charges and PCC Presidents of the states that in view of the distress caused by Covid-19 pandemic across the country and amid the ongoing farmer’s agitation against the “draconian” agriculture bills Sonia Gandhi has decided not to celebrate her birthday this year.
