NEW DELHI: The Congress on Monday will highlight the issue of rising prices and will launch a ‘BJP brought inflation’ booklet in poll-bound states.

The Congress will organise a series of press conferences underlining the problems faced by the people due to inflation and hold the central government responsible for it.

  • India ‘walked the talk’ during pandemic, says PM Modi

    By Express News Service
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the pandemic has presented an opportunity to reshape the world order and create systems to address the problems today and tomorrow, and underlined that India has “walked the talk” in a humble way with limited resources to tackle the global crisis.

Delivering the inaugural address of the Raisina Dialogue 2021, which is being held virtually for the first time owing to the pandemic, Modi said the edition of the event took a place at a “watershed moment in human history”. “A global pandemic has been ravaging the world for over a year.

The last such global pandemic was a century ago. During this pandemic, in our humble way and within our limited resources, we in India have tried to walk the talk. We have tried to protect our own 1.3 billion citizens from the pandemic. At the same time, we have also tried to support pandemic response efforts of others,” he said.

Asserting that mankind will not be able to defeat the pandemic unless “all of us, everywhere, regardless of the colour of our passports, come out of it”, Modi said it is important that a human-centric approach is put in place.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar called for additional manufacturing capacities in countries like India. “India’s ability to manufacture a range of vaccines is an example of global cooperation and said this couldn’t be seen as a “one-way street. Equitable access is critically important in this because we all know that no one will be safe till everyone is safe,” he said, adding that without building additional capabilities, distributive justice will not be enough.

  •  False narratives on farm laws, CAA to create political instability: PM Modi

    By PTI
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that “false narratives” about his government are spread as part of a big conspiracy to create political instability in the country, and asked BJP members to spread awareness regarding them among the people.

Speaking on the occasion of his party’s 41st foundation day, Modi said blatant lies like farmers’ land will be seized, citizenship of some people will be revoked, reservation will be scrapped or the Constitution will be changed are spread by certain individuals and organisations.

These false narratives have been spread over his government’s measures like farm laws, Citizenship (Amendment) Act and labour laws, he said.

“Deliberate politics is behind it. It is a very big conspiracy and its aims is to trigger political instability in the country by creating misconceptions and stoking imaginary fears,” he said, telling BJP members about this “serious challenge”.

He asked party members to be alert about them and go among the masses to spread awareness. Opposition parties have criticised the laws on citizenship, and farm and labour reforms over a number of issues, including some which the prime minister has often rejected as blatant lies.

Modi also hit out at those who have often dubbed the BJP as an “election-winning machine” over its poll triumphs, and accused them of double standards, saying rival parties and their leaders are lauded when they win.

These people do not understand the maturity of Indian people and its democracy, and nor do they appreciate citizens’ hopes, expectations and dreams, he said.

The BJP is a continuous movement to win people’s hearts as it serves people for five years honestly, be in the government or outside, he said.

The poor and the rural India have embraced the BJP as for the first time they have seen ‘antyodaya’ (welfare of the most deprived) being realised through a number of schemes.

The prime minister cited a number of welfare measures brought in by his government to make his point.
