At the launch of his album ‘Jaan Meri’ in Mumbai, veteran playback singer Hariharan took a trip down memory lane, honoring the incomparable R.D. Burman – Pancham Da. The event turned into a tribute, with Hariharan crediting him as the mentor who transformed his musical journey.

Pancham Da’s genius, Hariharan noted, lay in his ability to inspire countless artists through revolutionary soundscapes. ‘His music reminds us of a true maestro’s impact,’ he told reporters. From iconic scores to experimental fusions, Burman’s portfolio remains a gold standard.

Hariharan painted a vivid picture of Pancham Da’s personality: pure, childlike, and profoundly simple. ‘That innocence fueled his extraordinary talent. His compositions sparkled with genius,’ he recalled. This rare blend made Burman stand out in a crowded industry.

Diving deeper, Hariharan praised the forward-thinking nature of Pancham Da’s work. ‘So modern and versatile – add any element, and it elevates. That’s why his songs thrive in fusion music today,’ he said. Burman’s openness invited endless creativity, keeping his legacy vibrant.

Sharing insider stories, Hariharan reminisced about sessions with Asha Bhosle, where Pancham Da was always present. ‘He was like a father figure on tours and recordings. I absorbed everything from him,’ the singer revealed, marking five decades of his own illustrious career.

On wedding performances, Hariharan offered a balanced view: ‘I’m flexible with gigs, but decency matters. Sing in peace to spread real happiness – venue doesn’t dictate that.’

As Hariharan promotes ‘Jaan Meri’, his words immortalize Pancham Da’s influence, urging today’s artists to embrace simplicity and innovation.

Amruta Fadnavis, renowned singer and spouse of Maharashtra’s CM Devendra Fadnavis, is riding high on the success of her new release ‘Shambhu Re.’ This Shiva bhakti song has amassed over 9 lakh views since its February 14 launch, drawing praise for its emotive melody and spiritual essence.

Speaking candidly to media, Amruta dismissed speculations about her venturing into acting. ‘I’ve received several movie offers over the years,’ she admitted, ‘but I’ve always declined them graciously. Each person has their destined path, and mine doesn’t lead to the silver screen. Music is my eternal passion – it’s innate, authentic, and lets me pour my heart out completely. I commit only to what I can do with absolute sincerity.’

Her love for music runs deep. ‘It’s as essential as breathing,’ Amruta explained. ‘Without it, I feel lost. From dawn’s serenity to midnight hours, my days revolve around classical practice and vocal exercises. This discipline fuels my every performance.’

The track’s music, crafted by Moti Sharma, lyrics by Vinay Vaishnav, and direction by Rajiv Walia, was filmed at 27 holy sites linked to Lord Shiva. Amruta’s voice infuses it with profound devotion, resonating widely.

In a world tempting her with glamour, Amruta chooses the purity of swaras, inspiring many to embrace their true calling.

In a heartfelt tribute to Lord Shiva amid Maha Shivratri festivities, Amruta Fadnavis launched her new bhakti song ‘Shambhu Re’. The playback singer, better known as the First Lady of Maharashtra, hopes the track will awaken unwavering faith in every heart.

‘When music carries genuine devotion, it pierces straight to the core, filling you with serenity,’ Amruta told reporters. She poured her personal love for Shiva into the lyrics and melody.

Beyond her public profile, Amruta’s life revolves around music. Late nights or early mornings, she never skips her classical riyaz. ‘It’s the rhythm of my existence,’ she said passionately.

Crafting ‘Shambhu Re’ was a labor of love. Amruta explained, ‘Like raising a child, songs demand undivided attention—from grasping the essence to perfecting the delivery for maximum impact.’

Music maestro Monty Sharma played a pivotal role. ‘His direction was invaluable; great partnerships elevate art,’ she credited.

Rumors of Bollywood acting gigs? Amruta shut them down. ‘Acting isn’t for me. Music is where I express my deepest feelings—no substitute compares.’

This release cements Amruta’s stature as a devotional voice, perfectly timed for Shivratri’s spiritual fervor, inviting millions to connect with Shiva through soulful strains.

The world mourned the loss of Lata Mangeshkar on February 6, 2022, but her voice endures as Hindi cinema’s greatest gift. Spanning over seven decades, her career featured songs in over 38 languages, amassing awards that spotlighted her from India to abroad.

The 1950s through 1980s marked her peak, with chart-topping tracks in Bollywood and beyond. Her record-breaking feat came in 1974 when Guinness World Records listed her for the highest number of recorded songs, a testament to her tireless artistry.

International recognition poured in. The US granted her honorary citizenship in 1987 for her extraordinary vocal prowess. In 1980, Guyana’s Georgetown handed over its city key amid a sea of adoring fans during her South American tour, reflecting her massive overseas popularity.

Suriname echoed this in 1980 with honorary citizenship, praising her musical innovations. Toronto’s 1985 ‘Asia Day’ proclamation honored her contributions, a day still observed with reverence. These tributes painted her as a universal melody maker.

Entering the 21st century, she scooped the IIFA Lifetime Achievement Award in London in 2000. France’s prestigious Officer of the Legion of Honor followed, affirming her elite status. Lata’s awards narrate a story of a simple girl who sang her way to worldwide reverence, inspiring artists forever.

Suraiya’s story is one of raw talent triumphing over convention. Arriving in Mumbai as a toddler from Lahore, she grew up immersed in music through her mother’s record collection. No music school for this prodigy—her ear for melody was innate. By her early teens, she was a radio sensation and debuted on screen at 12 in ‘Taj Mahal,’ portraying the iconic Mumtaz Mahal.

The 1940s and 1950s belonged to her. Composer Naushad’s discovery in ‘Sharda’ launched her singing career, with songs that defined an era. She racked up over 70 films and 330 songs, dominating charts with romantic dramas like ‘Dard,’ ‘Anmol Ghadi,’ and epic tales such as ‘Rustam Sohrab.’

Her on-screen pairings with Dev Anand sparked endless speculation about a real-life affair, fueled by films like ‘Niili’ and ‘Do Sitare.’ Family opposition kept them apart, leaving Suraiya unmarried till the end. Mentored by K.L. Saigal, she credited him for her big breaks.

Iconic tracks—’O Door Jaane Wale,’ ‘Dil-e-Nadan,’ ‘Tera Khayal’—remain playlist staples. Post-1963, she shunned filmdom, preferring solitude at home. Her death on January 31, 2004, closed a chapter, but her voice echoes eternally, proving true artistry needs no formal tutelage.

In the annals of Indian cinema, few voices have stirred the patriotic spirit like Mahendra Kapoor’s. The singer, fondly remembered for his baritone that embodied national pride, was always ‘betchain’ – restless to reinvent himself as an ‘ajanabi’ for his country. Hailing from a modest background, Kapoor trained under classical maestros. His big break arrived with ‘Mere Desh Ki Dharti’, which played on loop across radio waves to boost national resolve. His discography boasts over 1,000 songs, with collaborations that produced timeless hits across generations. This restlessness defined him, often turning down lucrative offers to prioritize songs that served the nation’s heart. He passed away in 2008, but his legacy remains eternal.

Legendary playback singer Kumar Sanu has filed a petition with the Delhi High Court, seeking robust legal protection for his unique artistic identity. The plea specifically aims to safeguard his name, distinctive voice, vocal style, singing techniques, and overall public image. Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora is scheduled to review the singer’s case on October 13.

Through his legal representatives, Kumar Sanu’s petition highlights the unauthorized and unlicensed exploitation of his persona. This includes the misuse of his name, voice, signature singing methods, vocal interpretations, mannerisms, and likeness, including images and photographs. The singer expressed significant concern over the proliferation of AI-generated content, such as videos and audio clips, that convincingly replicate his facial features and vocal qualities. These unauthorized uses, he argues, are often for financial gain, but also sometimes used to create memes or make disparaging remarks.

The petition details how these AI-driven audios, videos, and merchandise are being actively monetized across major social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Kumar Sanu’s legal team contends that these actions constitute false promotion and impersonation, and they are seeking a court injunction to prevent any further unauthorized use of his name and creative works. The suit emphasizes that the revenue generated by these infringing materials through views and clicks on social media directly benefits the unauthorized parties.

This legal move by Kumar Sanu follows similar actions taken by other prominent figures in the entertainment industry, including Amitabh Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Karan Johar, and Abhishek Bachchan, who have previously sought court protection for their personality rights.

The TV9 Festival of India has commenced in Delhi, a five-day event featuring numerous performers. A special guest at the festival is singer Shaan, who is scheduled to captivate audiences with his voice at the Lifestyle Expo and Durga Puja celebrations on October 1st. Shaan, known for his popular songs, has made a significant contribution as a playback singer. But do you know that Shaan’s Bollywood singing career began at a very young age?

Born Shantanu Mukherjee in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, on September 30, 1972, Shaan has sung in Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Urdu. He has recorded thousands of songs, including both film tracks and album songs. But have you ever wondered at what age Shaan sang his first song, and for which film? Here’s a look.

Shaan started singing jingles for advertisements at the age of 12. According to reports, Vidhu Vinod Chopra was looking for a voice similar to Shaan’s for a song in his film ‘Parinda’ and found Shaan through an advertisement. In the film ‘Parinda,’ released in 1989, a song titled ‘Kitni Hai Pyari Pyari Dosti Humari’ featured some child artists. The song was sung by Suresh Wadkar, Shailendra Singh, and Sagarika, with Shaan also lending his voice.

While the song didn’t gain widespread popularity, it was recorded in 1988 when Shaan was approximately 15 years old. Later, in 1999, the film ‘Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi’ featured the song ‘Musu Musu Hasi Dil Malai Lai,’ which brought Shaan recognition. In 2000, Shaan’s music album ‘Tanha Dil’ was released, and its songs became immensely popular, introducing the industry to a new playback singer in the form of Shaan.

Shaan’s discography includes many popular tracks like ‘Chand Sifarish’, ‘Jab Se Tere Naina’, ‘Hey Shona’, ‘Mai Dil Goz Hummm’, ‘Where’s The Party Tonight’, ‘Char Kadam’, ‘Kuch Toh Hua Hai’, ‘Tune Mujhe Pehchana Nahi’, ‘Yeh Ladki Kyun’, ‘Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh’, ‘Koi Nahi Hai Kamre Mein’, ‘Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe Kitna Bhi Humko Deewana’, ‘It’s Time To Disco’ and ‘Partner Title Track’.

Kishore Kumar’s singing was characterized by a unique blend of simplicity and complexity. While his songs might have seemed easier to sing compared to the likes of Mohammed Rafi, Talat Mahmood, and Mukesh, attempting to emulate his style revealed the true difficulty and artistry. Kishore Kumar’s persona itself embodied this duality, standing out amidst the giants of his time. His journey from Khandwa and Indore to Mumbai was marked by challenges. Competing with established singers like K.L. Saigal, Rafi, Mukesh, and Talat Mahmood was no easy feat. Kumar, however, carved his own path through innovative approaches, constantly pushing boundaries while acknowledging the importance of classical traditions. He didn’t abandon them but made them accessible to the masses. This approach was reflected in his versatile singing, which could be adapted to any situation. His songs, unburdened by formality, resonated with everyone, anytime.
