Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made a significant stop in Rajgir on Saturday, diving deep into preparations for the 2026 Malmas Mela while overseeing key infrastructure projects. Starting at Griddhakoot Bhawan, he evaluated facilities and urged sustained excellence in operations to delight tourists.

From there, he proceeded to inspect the innovative new ropeway, gathering insights on tourism enhancements. His instructions were clear: maintain impeccable standards so no visitor faces hurdles.

At the Rajgir International Convention Center, the focus shifted to the grand Malmas Mela, a month-long extravaganza that attracts throngs of faithful. District Magistrate Kundan Kumar presented a detailed roadmap, prompting the CM to mandate comprehensive facilities including accommodation, potable water, hygiene, security, and medical aid.

‘With lakhs expected to arrive, leave no stone unturned for their well-being,’ Nitish declared, highlighting clean water sources, spotless ghats, efficient transport, and fortified security. This year’s event demands even better execution.

The itinerary continued to the Gangaji Rajgriha reservoir in Nawada’s Motanaje area, where the CM reviewed the water supply project’s progress. Benefiting regions like Gaya, Bodh Gaya, Nawada, and Rajgir, the scheme delivers pristine Ganga water, showcasing effective governance.

Key attendees included Minister Shravan Kumar, MP Kaushalendra Kumar, and MLAs Prem Mukhiya and Kaushal Kishore. The visit reinforces Bihar’s push for world-class event management and public services.

Jammu’s spiritual heartland is set for a renaissance as the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) rolled out ambitious plans during its latest meeting presided over by Lt Governor…

Jammu’s spiritual heartland is set for a renaissance as the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) rolled out ambitious plans during its latest meeting presided over by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha. The focus? Superior pilgrim services, local economic upliftment, and positioning the shrine as a world-class spiritual landmark.

Topping the agenda was the nod for ‘Shakti Sangrahalaya,’ an international museum in Katra’s Natoli, partnering with Asian Heritage Foundation. This pioneering center will blend religion, education, and culture. Adding to the allure, a cutting-edge sound-and-light spectacle and a shrine documentary were approved, drawing cues from famed global tirthas.

Practical steps include recruiting for open departmental posts and launching a complimentary NEET coaching facility for regional youth. Pony wallahs and route vendors will benefit from a structured NGT-mandated rehabilitation scheme. A new committee targets higher pilgrim numbers and richer yatra vibes.

Local empowerment takes center stage with preferences for SHGs, women, and young entrepreneurs in procurements, ensuring pooja items stay homegrown. Sinha envisioned Katra as a spotless, dynamic hub with top-notch amenities for locals and devotees alike. Sports initiatives in Jammu got a push too, nurturing talent and fitness.

Insurance for pilgrims jumped to Rs 10 lakhs, underscoring safety priorities. Updates on infrastructure like broadened paths, fresh constructions, and temple works were scrutinized for on-schedule delivery. The session saw full attendance from board stakeholders.
