  • Bihar: Bihar Floor Test: Nitish Kumar, has sent thousands of police and surrounded Tejashwi’s Patna residence: RJD

Hours before a crucial floor test in Bihar’s assembly, senior police officers made a late-night visit to the residence of former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. This visit came in response to allegations of ‘kidnapping’ made by RJD MLA Chetan Anand’s family. The unfolding events shed light on the intense political maneuvering ahead of the trust vote.

    Police Visit Amid Allegations

On Sunday night, police visited Tejashwi Yadav’s plush residence following a complaint lodged with Patna Police. The complaint, filed by family members of RJD MLA Chetan Anand, alleged that he was ‘missing’ and possibly being held against his will at Yadav’s residence. However, upon police arrival, Chetan Anand clarified that he was present at Yadav’s residence voluntarily.Tension Escalates

The arrival of police at Tejashwi Yadav’s bungalow led to heightened tension in the area, with a significant deployment of security personnel to maintain order. RJD supporters gathered outside the residence, expressing anger and chanting slogans.

In response to the incident, the RJD accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of orchestrating the police visit to disrupt their preparations for the floor test. The BJP, on the other hand, dismissed these allegations, emphasizing their confidence in proving the NDA government’s majority.Reacting to the incident, the RJD took to X and alleged that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar sent police to Tejashwi Yadav’s residence, fearing his defeat in the floor test.”They want to enter inside the residence and do untoward incidents with the MLAs. The people of Bihar are watching the misdeeds of Nitish Kumar and the police. Remember, we are not among those who fear and bow down,” the party wrote in Hindi.Political Dynamics Ahead of Floor Test

As the trust vote looms, both alliances are rallying their members. The Mahagathbandhan, comprising RJD, Congress, and Left parties, is asserting its unity with 114 MLAs. Meanwhile, the NDA government, led by Nitish Kumar, claims a majority with 128 members.

Reports of ‘missing’ MLAs from both camps add to the intrigue surrounding the floor test. The NDA asserts its readiness, buoyed by JD(U) issuing a whip for all MLAs to be present. Additionally, BJP MLAs, previously housed in a Bodh Gaya resort, have returned to Patna.

Leaders from both sides exude confidence in their respective camps’ strength. JD(U) MLA Shalini Mishra reaffirmed the NDA’s solidarity, while BJP leader Haribhushan Thakur projected a comfortable victory in the floor test.

Janata Dal-United (JD-U) MLA Shalini Mishra, who did not attend the party meeting, said that she went to Delhi for some personal work.

The JD-U MLA also asserted that the NDA alliance led by CM Nitish Kumar will win the floor test with full force, which is set to take place tomorrow.

“There was nothing to doubt about this. I had gone to Delhi after informing the party leadership of some personal work and today I have returned. I want to say that NDA will pass the floor test with full force and we will work for the development of Bihar. No MLA has been put under house arrest. Everyone has freedom and this shows how secure and safe we are under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar,” she said.

JD-U leader KC Tyagi said, the “kind of fear and insecurity present in the RJD-Congress camp shows how unstable both parties are. This time, the opposition will have nothing to cheer about”.

JD-U MLA Zama Khan said, “All MLAs have come.”

Another party MLA Vinay Kumar Choudhary told ANI, “We are safe under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar…It is confirmed (passing the floor test).”

BJP leader Haribhushan Thakur said, “We will win the floor test with a comfortable margin. Nitish Kumar will remain our CM with two Deputy CMs and this govt will complete its term… Jitan Ram Manjhi is with us…”

Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi said that all MLAs (BJP, JD-U, HAM) will be present tomorrow and PM Modi has done a good job by bringing CM Nitish Kumar into his team.

“Everybody is intact in NDA. We have 128 members and this figure may increase because today everybody holds PM Modi’s leadership in high regard. He has done a very good job by bringing Nitish Kumar with him. Our experiment will be successful on 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar. All MLAs (BJP, JD-U, HAM) will be present tomorrow,” he said.

    The Upcoming Trust Vote

The Bihar assembly braces for a crucial trust vote on Monday, determining the fate of the NDA government. With political tensions running high, all eyes are on the assembly as the drama unfolds in the quest for majority support.

  • Patna SSP draws parallels between Islamic extremist body and RSS; BJP roiled

    By PTI

PATNA: The BJP flew off the handle on Thursday after a senior IPS officer in Bihar sought to draw a parallel between its parent body RSS and an Islamic extremist organisation, a network of which was recently busted in the city.

Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Manavendra Singh Dhillon courted trouble for having said that PFI members arrested from Phulwari Sharif here underwent “physical training similar to what happens in RSS shakhas’ (branches)”.

BJP leaders, including high-ranking ones like former Union law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and ex-deputy CM of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi, expressed outrage, while others questioned the police officer’s soundness of mind and demanded his sacking.

“I condemn the irresponsible and despicable utterance of the SSP of Patna, my parliamentary constituency, who has sought to compare the PFI, a known terrorist organisation, to a nationalist organisation like the RSS,” fumed Prasad, who represents Patna Sahib in Lok Sabha.

“I have learnt that senior officials have taken note of the reprehensible conduct of the officer. I hope proper action will be taken,” added Prasad.

When approached by journalists, Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters), J S Gangwar said the SSP could have spoken out of context “Comparing one organisation with another is wrong. We will speak to him on the issue and advise him to concentrate on investigating the case,” he said.

According to Dhillon, a raid was conducted in Phulwari Sharif following a tip-off about “Islamic radicalisation” inside a premise owned by a retired police official of Jharkhand, where many people, some of them from far-off Kerala and Tamil Nadu, were undergoing “normal physical training, not armed training”.

Altogether 26 people have been named in the FIR out of whom three, including the owner of the house, have been arrested since Wednesday night, said the SSP, adding, recoveries from the spot include propaganda material that spoke of “turning India into an Islamic state”.

He ruled out any Pakistan links of the network, but said the “terror funding” angle was being probed and though the police had recently intensified its surveillance in view of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 12, there were “no indications” that the group was aiming at disrupting the VIP event.

However, his offhand use of a simile triggered predictable outrage.

Sushil Kumar Modi came out with a couple of tweets asking how could the police officer be loose tongued about RSS, which has had among its members top leaders like PM Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Sushil Modi also demanded “a withdrawal of the statement and an apology” from the SSP, though stormy petrels wanted him to be booted out.

“He has evidently lost his mental balance. He must be removed from his current assignment, which requires sensitivity and a sense of responsibility,” said Haribhushan Thakur Bachol, a BJP MLA.

He also alleged that PM Modi “has been targeted by Islamic terrorists whenever he has visited Bihar, starting from the 2013 serial blasts”.

The prime minister, the then Gujarat CM, had addressed his maiden rally in Bihar at the Gandhi Maidan here in October 2013, while several bombs went off at the venue.

State BJP spokesman and OBC Morcha’s national general secretary Nikhil Anand alleged “it is not a slip of tongue by the Patna SSP, but a statement given in confidence and in a cool manner” to show his political affinity and keep masters in good humour.

“He must apologise and if he wants to indulge in politics, he must resign,” Anand said, urging the state DGP and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to take note of the indiscretion and initiate “disciplinary action” against the officer.

  • Bihar Ambulance Exposure case: Pappu Yadav arrested by Patna Police

Pappu Yadav on Tuesday said that he has been arrested by Patna Police. This comes days after he had raised the issue of ambulances parked around and gathering dust at a ground in Bihar.

Accompanied with his supporters, Yadav visited the place Friday where the ambulances were standing and after a tiff with the security men went inside and removed tarpaulin cover from the stationary ambulances.

The former MP came down heavily on Rudy for not utilising the ambulances when Covid patients are dying for want of emergency services.

“People are paying as much as Rs 12,000 to ferry Covid patients to hospitals even though the hospital maybe just 1 km away. There is an acute shortage of ambulances and the Saran MP has kept about 100 ambulances.

“He has distributed some ambulances among his own men. There should be a probe into the matter. The MPLAD fund is public money,” said the Jan Adhikar Party chief.

A supporter of Rudy has given a complaint to the police against the JAP leader for trespassing and vandalising the ambulances.

An FIR has been registered against Yadav with the Amnour police station Saturday, Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar said.

The incident triggered a war of words between Rudy and Yadav.

Rudy, former union minister and sitting Lok Sabha member from Saran, said the ambulances were standing due to non-availability of drivers to ply them due of prevalence of Covid.

He attacked Yadav for playing politics over the issue and threw a challenge to arrange drivers for use of the vehicles.

Yadav retorted sharply and at a press conference in Patna paraded some drivers carrying their driving license who are prepared to run those stationed ambulances.

He appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to prevent such activities and utilise services of these drivers who are ready to work.

Yadav, a multiple times MP from Madhepura, carrying ‘Robinhood’ image has been seen helping Covid patients get oxygen cylinder and visiting hospitals to help the needy.

Recently, a video had gone viral showing him stopping a truck in which bouncers were transporting medical oxygen cylinders to a private hospital in the state capital.

JAP chief lost election from Madhepura in 2019 to JD(U) leader Dinesh Chandra Yadav.
