A Passport Seva Mobile Van Camp is being organized on a large scale in Sheikhpura, Bihar. The Regional Passport Office, Patna, processed approximately four lakh passport applications in 2024. Notably, the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, initiated the issuance of chip-embedded passports at the Regional Passport Office, Patna, starting May 12th of the same year.

The Regional Passport Office, Patna, is organizing a Passport Seva Mobile Van Camp at the Information and Public Relations Office complex in Sheikhpura from September 16th to 18th. Sheikhpura district does not have a Post Office Passport Seva Kendra. Consequently, the number of applicants has been increasing.

Since April 2024, a total of ten camps have been organized. This camp in Sheikhpura will be the eleventh, following events in Siwan, Gopalganj, Purnia, Police District Bagaha, and Lakhisarai. The Regional Passport Office, Patna, is committed to continuing to provide such services.

Applicants must fill out the online application, pay the prescribed fee, and secure an appointment for the Passport Seva Mobile Van Camp. On the designated day, time, and location, applicants must bring original and self-attested photocopies of all required documents. Applicants must be present in person for photo, fingerprint, application, and original certificate verification. For information on necessary documents, applicants can visit the aforementioned website. Applications for PCC and applications held due to any reason or certificate will not be accepted at this camp.

A three-day passport service mobile van camp commenced in Lakhisarai, Bihar, on Tuesday. Organized by the Regional Passport Office, Patna, the camp will run from July 1st to July 3rd, 2025. The inauguration of the camp was attended by Swadha Rizvi, Regional Passport Officer, Patna, and Mithilesh Mishra, District Magistrate of Lakhisarai.

This initiative by the Regional Passport Office aims to provide passport-related services to applicants in their local areas, addressing the increasing number of applicants at Post Office Passport Seva Kendras and the absence of such a center in the Lakhisarai district.

Notably, the Indian government has been issuing chip-embedded passports since May 12, 2025, which store all applicant information. This Lakhisarai camp marks the tenth such camp since April 2024, following events in Siwan, Gopalganj, Purnia, and the police district of Bagaha.

Applications for both new and re-issue passports are being accepted at the camp. Fifty-five appointment slots are released daily for this camp. Online registration and further information are available at www.passportindia.gov.in. Applicants must fill out the online application, pay the prescribed fee, and obtain an appointment for the passport service mobile camp. They are required to be present on the designated day and time at the specified location with original documents, photocopies, photographs, fingerprints, and for verification of applications and original certificates.

It is important to note that applications for PCC, those held due to any reason or for certificates, and applications without prior online appointments will not be accepted at this camp. Applicants can visit the aforementioned website for information on required documents.

The Regional Passport Office, Patna, is committed to continuing this service. The Regional Passport Office, Patna, with the support of Bihar Police, received an award for the best-performing police based on passport application verification data for the year 2024-25.

A technical malfunction within the Passport Seva Portal on Thursday brought passport services across India to a standstill. Applicants arriving at Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) found the systems non-functional, leading to significant delays and frustration. The outage persisted into Friday, leaving many passport seekers, including those with urgent travel plans, in a difficult situation. Social media platforms were flooded with complaints from users, who cited a lack of communication from authorities and the inability to reschedule appointments promptly. Numerous users reported receiving cancellation notifications late at night, while others encountered locked gates and a complete absence of on-site assistance. Families and business travelers reported being particularly affected, with some expressing concerns about disrupted travel plans and visa applications. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Passport Seva officials remained silent throughout the ordeal, exacerbating the issues faced by individuals dealing with missed appointments and uncertain schedules. This incident marks the second major disruption to the portal’s services in recent months, with a previous outage in April also causing appointment backlogs and travel-related anxieties.
