In a significant anti-corruption operation, the Palamu divisional team of the Bureau of Investigation (ACB) has apprehended a senior official red-handed. The arrest took place on Thursday at the Chainpur Anchal office, where Vinod Kumar, a senior clerk also known as ‘Bada Babu’, was caught accepting a bribe of 5,500 rupees. The action was initiated following a complaint from an applicant who was allegedly asked for money in exchange for extracting copies of documents. The ACB investigated the complaint and found it to be substantiated. Subsequently, a trap was set, leading to Kumar’s immediate arrest as he received the illicit payment. This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts to curb corruption within government offices.

The Palamu district is in mourning following the passing of Dr. Surendra Singh, a revered physician fondly known as the ‘God of the Poor.’ While the inevitability of life and death is a universal truth, Dr. Singh’s legacy is defined by his extraordinary compassion and dedication to his patients, particularly the underprivileged. Unlike many in the medical profession who prioritize profit, Dr. Singh was never a mere businessman. He dedicated his life to serving humanity, ensuring his clinic doors were open 24/7 without any preconditions or ego-related barriers. His practice in Haidernagar was legendary, with a nominal fee of just ₹5. Many days, he would see over a hundred patients, with at least half receiving free consultations. He treated patients from villages and rural areas with immense care, often refusing any payment. His commitment extended to other areas like Ramna and Nagar Untari, where he provided similar selfless service. Even after moving to Daltonganj due to declining health and age, patients continued to seek his expertise. When a private hospital requested his services, he insisted on maintaining his ₹5 fee, a testament to his unwavering principles. Though eventually persuaded to accept ₹50 due to hospital operational concerns, his core mission remained unchanged. Born in a modest family in Murma village, Dr. Singh deeply understood the struggles of the poor, having experienced financial hardships himself during his education. He valued relationships and never considered charging his own community. His simple lifestyle and unassuming demeanor made it hard to believe he was a doctor. Dr. Surendra Singh truly embodied the divine qualities often attributed to physicians, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he served.

Palamu mourns the loss of Dr. Surendra Singh, a revered physician affectionately known as the ‘God of the Poor.’ His passing marks the end of an era for many who benefited from his extraordinary compassion and minimal fees. Dr. Singh was not merely a doctor but a humanitarian, dedicated to serving the less fortunate without seeking exorbitant profits. His clinic doors were always open, offering medical aid 24/7, irrespective of a patient’s financial status. Unlike many practitioners today who charge thousands, Dr. Singh famously charged a mere ₹5 for consultations, and often treated patients for free, especially those from rural areas. He never pressured patients into unnecessary tests or procedures, a stark contrast to the anxieties many face when seeking medical attention. For decades, he served communities in Haidernagar, Ramna, and Nagar Untari, embodying a spirit of selfless service. Even when relocating to Daltonganj and joining a private hospital, he insisted on maintaining his ₹5 fee, only reluctantly agreeing to ₹50 under pressure from the hospital administration. Born into a humble family, Dr. Singh deeply understood the struggles of poverty, making his dedication to affordable healthcare even more profound. His simple lifestyle and genuine care for his patients reflected the true essence of the divine healer, earning him the title ‘God on Earth’ among the people he served.

The renowned physician, Dr. Surendra Singh, who was affectionately known as the ‘God of the Poor,’ has passed away. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of many, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds who benefited from his exceptional medical services. Dr. Singh was not merely a doctor but a compassionate healer who dedicated his life to serving humanity, charging an astonishingly low fee of just ₹5 for his consultations.

Practicing in areas like Haidernagar, Ramna, and Nagar Untari for many years, Dr. Singh was a beacon of hope for countless patients. Unlike many in the medical profession, he never exploited patients, refraining from unnecessary tests or creating financial burdens. His clinic doors were always open, 24 hours a day, reflecting his unwavering commitment to accessible healthcare. Even when he moved to Daltonganj due to declining health and age, patients continued to seek his expertise. He initially agreed to a private hospital’s request to practice there, insisting on his ₹5 fee, but eventually conceded to ₹50 under pressure from the hospital administration, a testament to his flexibility in ensuring continued patient care.

Born in a modest family in Murma village, Dr. Singh deeply understood the struggles of the poor, having experienced a challenging educational journey himself. His simple lifestyle and profound respect for relationships, especially with his community, defined his character. He embodied the true spirit of a physician, earning him the title ‘God on Earth’ through his selfless service and dedication. His legacy serves as an inspiration, reminding us of the profound impact one individual can have through empathy and unwavering commitment to the well-being of others.

780 families in 7 villages of the Palamu division of Jharkhand are facing a dilemma. The government is planning to relocate these villages. While they face the sorrow of leaving their old homes, they also have the comfort of knowing that the government is going to resettle them in a new place. The Hemant Soren government has made a significant decision for the rehabilitation of these families. Under this, each family will be provided with financial assistance of 15 lakh rupees and one acre of land so that they can start their lives with better facilities in their new location. The cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on September 24, approved a total of 27 proposals. The most important decision among these is the rehabilitation of 780 families from 7 villages associated with the submerged area of the Shahid Neelambar-Pitambar North Koel Reservoir Project (Mandal Dam) under Palamu division.

A case of a one-crore rupee elephant theft has come to light in the Palamu district. The mahout has absconded with the elephant. Fortunately, the elephant is fitted with a chip, which is being used by the Forest Department and police team to trace its location. Narendra Kumar Shukla, a resident of Vindhyachal, Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, filed a case at the Medininagar Sadar police station on Friday. Narendra informed the police that he had obtained the elephant named Jaymati from a person named Sangam Lal on a responsibility agreement. Due to a lack of food and water arrangements in their village, he brought the elephant to Jharkhand. He had entrusted the responsibility of taking care of the elephant to Munna Pandey, a resident of Mirzapur, and Munna Pathak, a resident of Chunar, Mirzapur. Both became friends with Tarkeshwar Nath, the owner of another elephant.

They arrived in the Jorkat area of the Medininagar Sadar police station area of Palamu with the two elephants. Narendra stated that he arrived in Palamu on August 11. He found the elephant and mahout in the Jorkat area. When he returned to Jorkat in Palamu on August 13, he found that both the elephant and the mahout were missing. He searched for the elephant in Palamu and several other areas of Jharkhand but could not find either the elephant or the mahout. Finally, he filed an FIR after a month. The Sadar police station in-charge, Lalji, stated on Saturday that Narendra Shukla had informed the police that the elephant was worth one crore rupees. Investigations are underway, and an FIR has been registered. The Forest Department has been informed about the chip in the elephant, and its location is being tracked accordingly.
