  • Pakistani intruder arrested along LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch

    JAMMU: Security forces on Saturday arrested a Pakistani intruder along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said here.

    The troops picked up a suspected movement along the LoC in the forward area of Gulpur and intercepted the intruder, they said.

    He was arrested and is being questioned, the officials said.

    The man has been identified as Javaid of Chopur, they added.

  • Arrested Pakistani intruder succumbs to bullet injuries at Jammu hospital

    JAMMU: A Pakistani intruder, who was arrested recently in an injured condition after being shot at by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel along the International border in Samba sector, succumbed to injuries at a hospital here, officials said on Saturday.

    Syed Raja Aasim (27), a resident of Danga in Lahore, received multiple bullet injuries when he ignored repeated warnings by the BSF while trying to sneak into this side on May 18.

    “The Pakistani national succumbed to injuries on Friday while undergoing treatment at Government Medical College (GMC) hospital Jammu,” an official said, adding an effort would be made to contact Pakistani Rangers to hand over the body to his relatives for last rites after a postmortem examination.

    The officials said nothing objectionable was seized from the deceased at the time of his arrest from Ban Glad area. After being administered first aid by the BSF, he was immediately taken to civil hospital and later referred to the GMC hospital for specialised treatment, the officials said.

    He was the second Pakistani intruder killed by the BSF along the IB in Samba sector this month as an infiltrator was shot dead on May 5.

  • Pakistani intruder shot dead by BSF in Jammu & Kashmir’s Samba

    SAMBA: Border Security Force (BSF) eliminated a Pakistani intruder near the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba on the intervening night of May 5 and 6. “During the intervening night of May 5 and 6, around 2:35 am, BSF jawans shot dead a Pakistani intruder near the International Border in Samba sector, Jammu and Kashmir,” the BSF informed.

    However, there was no information on the identity of the intruder. Further details are awaited. In a similar incident, the BSF had shot dead a Pakistani intruder at the Indian border in Punjab’s Firozpur district on the intervening night of May 2 and 3.

    A ceasefire was announced between India and Pakistan from midnight of February 24 to 25. After discussions between the Director Generals of Military Operations of India and Pakistan, the two sides agreed to cease firing along the Line of Control (LoC) and all other sectors with effect from midnight of February 24 to 25.

  • Pakistani intruder shot dead by BSF on Jammu border

    SAMBA (Jammu and Kashmir): An intruder from Pakistan was shot dead by the Border Security Force on the international border in the Ramgarh area of Jammu’s Samba district.

    According to top sources in BSF, the incident took place on Tuesday at about 3:55 pm and the intruder was found moving aggressively towards wild growth (sarkanda) while approaching the border fence from the direction of Pakistan’s village Lehri Kalan.

    Sources said the intruder “repeatedly ignored warnings by the BSF, he was shot dead near Malluchak post of the BSF in Ramgarh sub-sector”.

    The BSF personnel recovered Rs 200 in Pakistani currency ( 1 fifty rupee note, 3 twenty rupee notes and 9 ten-rupee notes).

    It is suspected that Pakistani national was not mentally sound.

    His body has been handed over to Ramgarh Police Station for a post mortem.

    The incident comes weeks after both India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) on February 25, after a meeting of the Directors General of Military Operations of the two countries.
