  • Gas agency owner arrested in Rajasthan for spying for Pakistan

    JAIPUR: An owner of an LPG cylinder distribution agency from Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district was arrested on Thursday for allegedly passing on information about the Indian Army’s movement to Pakistani handlers, police said.

    Sandeep Kumar (30), a resident of Narhar village in Jhunjhunu district, was arrested on charges of espionage in a joint operation of the intelligence wing of Rajasthan police and military intelligence.

    He is said to have leaked strategic information and photographs related to the Indian Army while delivering LPG cylinders in Army premises, the police said.

    The accused was lured for money by Pakistani handlers to leak sensitive information and photographs of Narhar army base.

    The accused was detained on September 12 for interrogation, DGP (Intelligence) Umesh Mishra said in a statement.

    He said the accused man’s Pakistani handlers had asked for sensitive information in July.

    A case was registered against the accused, who was then arrested on Thursday.

  • Pakistani spy held in 2006 being repatriated finally after pandemic delayed process by over year

    GWALIOR: A Pakistani national, who was caught for spying 15 years back in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior, is being sent back to his country, over a year after he completed his jail term as the coronavirus pandemic delayed the repatriation process earlier, an official said on Saturday.

    “Pakistani spy Abbas Ali was sent to Wagah border on Thursday under police security, from where he will be handed over to his country,” Gwalior Central Jail’s Manoj Kumar Sahu said.

    Ali, 43, was caught for spying in March 2006 with objectionable documents from Nai Sadak area under Inderganj Police Station’s jurisdiction of Gwalior.

    “A court had sentenced him to 14 years of imprisonment, which completed on March 26 last year.

    But he could not be repatriated due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic,” he said.

    Since then, he was kept in a detention centre here and now sent to Wagah border, Sahu said, adding that Ali is scheduled to be handed over to Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday.

    According to officials, Ali is a resident of Rahim Yar town in Pakistan’s Punjab province.

  • Man arrested in Rajasthan on charges of spying for Pakistan

    JAIPUR: A special branch of Rajasthan has arrested a 42-year-old man on charges of spying for Pakistan, police said.

    Satyanarayan Paliwal, a resident of Jaisalmer, has been booked and arrested by CID (Special Branch) on charges of espionage, police further said in a press release.

    The suspect was allegedly sharing classified information about the Indian Army, police added. He was later arrested by the Crime Investigation Department (special branch), Jaipur under the Official Secrets Act, police said.

    He has confessed to being in touch with an agent of Pakistan intelligence agency and possessing sensitive military information, Rajasthan Police stated.
