The ripple effects of West Asia’s brewing storm have reached Indian shores, leaving foreign visitors in limbo. With airlines slashing routes and canceling flights, the Indian government has unveiled a lifeline of immigration relaxations to help them return home safely.

Announced Tuesday, the package offers free visa extensions for up to a month on all types—regular or e-visa—for citizens of impacted countries. Regional Foreigners Registration Offices will handle approvals individually, ensuring fairness.

Overstays triggered by post-February 28 disruptions come with zero penalties. Exit permits are complimentary, and opting out of extensions or permits won’t invite legal trouble. Flight diversions? Temporary landing permits are on the house.

This humane approach, echoed in advisories from Indian embassies like the one in Manila, reflects India’s empathetic stance. ‘In the spirit of goodwill, we’re easing burdens caused by uncontrollable circumstances,’ the advisory noted.

On the flip side, MEA’s focus is laser-sharp on repatriating Indians from crisis zones. Over 650 nationals crossed Iran’s border into safer territories Monday, joined by 284 Haj pilgrims via Armenia. Evacuations continue non-stop, with Jaiswal stressing 24/7 vigilance.

These dual-track efforts—assisting foreigners here while rescuing our own there—paint a picture of balanced diplomacy in turbulent times. Travelers are urged to stay updated via official channels as relief rolls out.
