Nothing’s CEO, Carl Pei, shared a post on X, featuring a picture of his meeting with India’s Minister of Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw. Discussions included the expansion of Nothing and CMF in India. Pei stated that India is playing a crucial role in shaping the future of the global smartphone industry.

The company plans to invest $100 million (approximately 887.77 crore) jointly with Optiemus Infracom, which will generate over 1800 new job opportunities in India over the next three years, boosting employment prospects in the country. Nothing has already invested over $200 million (1775 crore) in India, reflecting the country’s significance in the company’s growth strategy. CMF, launched in 2023, has established a market presence in the budget smartphone and wearables segment with smartphones priced under $200. According to IDC data, more than 42% of phones sold in India in the second quarter of 2025 were in the $100-$200 range. This joint venture will be a significant milestone in making CMF India’s first global smartphone brand.

At just 7.8 mm thick and weighing only 185 g, the CMF Phone 2 Pro feels nearly weightless—5 percent thinner than the CMF Phone 1. The newly launched smartphone will be available in White, Black, Orange, and Light Green colour options.

The CMF Phone 2 Pro is priced at Rs 17,999 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant and INR 19,999 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option, inclusive of bank or exchange offers. As a special introductory offer on May 5, the smartphone will be available at a reduced price of Rs 16,999 for the 8+128GB variant and Rs 18,999 for the 8+256GB variant, inclusive of all applicable offers in the country.

On Day 1, buyers of the CMF Phone 2 Pro can avail a combined benefit of Rs 2,000, which includes an exchange bonus of INR 1,000 and a bank offer of INR 1,000 applicable on all leading banks.

The phone features a 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2392 pixels, offering a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a 480Hz touch sampling rate for smooth and responsive interactions. The device is backed by a 5000mAh battery with support for 33W wired charging.  

The device is powered by the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro octa-core processor, clocked up to 2.5GHz, paired with a Mali-G615 MC2 GPU for efficient performance. It runs on Android 15 with the custom Nothing OS 3.2 on top. 

The phone supports Hybrid Dual SIM (nano + nano/microSD) functionality. On the photography front, the smartphone sports a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP 2x telephoto lens on the rear, along with a 16MP front-facing camera for selfies. Adding further, the handset comes with the USB Type-C audio support and a bottom-ported ultra-volume speaker delivering 150 per cent louder output.

When asked about the possible impact of tariffs on the tech industry and on Nothing’s pricing or product demand, Pei responded, “Who knows? Things are changing every day.” When asked about his strategy to counter such effects, Pei stated, “We are considering increasing exports from India.”

India has already become a major market for Nothing and a key part of its growth strategy. According to Counterpoint Research, the brand saw an impressive 577 per cent year-on-year (YoY) growth in the country in 2024.

This strong performance was largely driven by the success of its Phone 2a series and products under its sub-brand CMF by Nothing. Recently, the brand also crossed $1 billion in cumulative revenue. The company’s commitment to the Indian market goes beyond just sales.

Nothing has been focusing on local manufacturing under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Its recent devices, Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro, are assembled in India. This focus on domestic production is expected to help the company manage costs and respond quickly to changes in the global supply chain.

Further strengthening its India strategy, co-founder Akis Evangelidis was recently appointed president of the company’s India operations. After taking on this role, Evangelidis said that India is ‘one of the most important markets’ for Nothing. He also announced plans to invest more in the country, including expanding the company’s offline presence to over 12,000 stores and increasing local manufacturing in 2025.

The Nothing Phone 3a comes in black, white, and blue colour options. On the other hand, Nothing Phone 3a Pro is offered in Black and White colour options. The company has also announced a new TrueLens Engine 3 that brings artificial intelligence capabilities to the cameras on the Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro. It is important to note that the Nothing has redesigned its smartphones to feature a dedicated “Essential Key,” functioning similarly to the iPhone’s Action Button.

Nothing Phone 3a And Phone 3a Pro Price In India And Availability

The Nothing Phone 3a starts at Rs 22,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant, while the 8GB + 256GB model is priced at Rs 26,999. Meanwhile, the Nothing Phone 3a Pro starts at Rs 29,999 for the 8GB + 128GB option and Rs 31,999 for the 8GB + 256GB variant. The first sale is scheduled for March 11 at 12 PM on Flipkart.

Both the phones feature a 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2392 pixels, a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and an impressive peak brightness of 3,000 nits, protected by Panda Glass. 

The Nothing Phone 3a And Phone 3a Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC, ensuring efficient performance. Both the smartphone house a 5,000mAh battery with support for 50W fast charging. 

On the software front, the phone runs on Nothing OS 3.1, based on Android 15, and comes with a promise of three years of OS upgrades and six years of security updates.  On the photography front, the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro boasts a versatile camera setup, featuring a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP periscope camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP front camera for high-resolution selfies.

Meanwhile, the Nothing Phone (3a) comes equipped with a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32MP front camera, ensuring a well-rounded photography experience.

Adding further, the Nothing Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro come with NFC support for Google Pay, the signature Glyph Interface for unique notifications, IP64-rated dust and water resistance, and dual stereo speakers for an immersive audio experience. 

Notably, this marks the first time a Nothing smartphone will feature a triple-camera setup, including a periscope telephoto module, which is expected to enhance the device’s zoom capabilities significantly.

The smartphone has been revealed in two colour options: a grey variant resembling the Phone 2a Plus and a black variant. It is likely to run on NothingOS 3.1, based on Android 15, and will feature the brand’s signature Glyph Interface.

Nothing CEO Carl Pei recently confirmed that the Phone 3a series’ processor will deliver a 25% boost in CPU performance and a 72% improvement in NPU (Neural Processing Unit) speed compared to the Phone 2a Plus. However, the company has yet to officially disclose the exact chipset.

Nothing Phone 3a Price in India (Expected)

The Nothing Phone 3a is expected to launch at EUR 349 (approximately ₹31,600) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, while the higher-end 12GB RAM + 256GB model may be priced at EUR 399 (around ₹36,100). Nothing has also confirmed that the devices will be available in India via Flipkart.

The Nothing Phone 3a is rumoured to feature a 6.8-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate for a smoother viewing experience. It could be powered by a 5,000mAh battery, supported by 45W fast charging.

In the camera department, the device is expected to sport a triple-rear setup consisting of a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera.

For selfies and video calls, the phone may include a 32MP front-facing camera. Both the standard and Pro variants of the Nothing Phone 3a series are expected to be equipped with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC and run on Nothing OS 3.

In the X (formerly Twitter) post, the company shared a glimpse of its traditional LED lights and the rest is left for speculation. It is important to note that the Nothing Phone (2) was launched back in July 2023, the obvious choice for the launch of the new smartphone was its successor, the Phone (3). However, it appears that Nothing will launch the more budget-friendly Phone (3a) first.

Nothing Phone (3a) India Launch Event (Expected)

The event, “Power in Perspective,” is scheduled for 10:00 AM GMT (3:30 PM IST). A teaser video hints at the back camera of the upcoming phone, showcasing the signature Glyph interface. However, the more details of the smartphones are expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress. Meanwhile, Flipkart has created a special page on its website to build excitement for this new Nothing product.

Nothing Phone 3a Specifications (Expected)  

The upcoming phone, codenamed ‘asteroids’ and spotted on the Nothing OS 3.0 build by Android Authority, is expected to feature the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, the same SoC found in devices like the Realme 14 Pro+ and Redmi Note 14 Pro+. The much anticipated smartphone is likely to retain the 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display seen in its predecessor, delivering smooth visuals and vibrant colours. 

The phone might showcase a distinctive see-through design, in line with the brand’s signature style, and will run the latest version of Android customized with Nothing’s proprietary software. Adding further, it is expected to support e-SIM functionality, allowing users the flexibility to use two physical nano-SIMs or an eSIM in combination with a nano-SIM.
