  • Section 144 imposed in Noida till January 31, no drones, protests allowed

    NOIDA: Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday invoked CrPC section 144 in Gautam Buddh Nagar till January 31 in view of safety concerns related to Republic Day.

    “No use of private drones, No protests without approval from authorities, No traffic jams, No possession of harmful objects, No audio-video with sensitive content, No alcohol drinking at public places are allowed,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Ashutosh Dwivedi, said in the notice.

    The order has been imposed in Gautam Budhh Nagar from January 22 to January 31. Any person found violating the above order will be booked under IPC Section 188.

    Police said that the restrictions have been imposed as many people are likely to participate in Republic Day celebrations from Gautam Buddh Nagar. Also, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is likely to visit the district on the occasion of Uttar Pradesh foundation day, January 24.

    There are apprehensions of unwanted activities due to which the section has been invoked ‘one-sidedly’ for the safety of the public, police said. 

  • Noida receives 28,840 doses, all set for COVID vaccination

    NEW DELHI:  Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar has got 28,840 doses of vaccines for Covid-19 for the first phase of the much-anticipated vaccination drive set to take place on Saturday, according to officials.

    Hundreds of frontline healthcare workers will be the first to get jabs of the Covishield vaccine at six centres in Noida and Greater Noida in the district, Additional Chief Medical Officer and District Immunisation Officer Neeraj Tyagi said.

    “Health Department officials will hold the vaccination drive tomorrow at the Child PGI in Sector 30, the Kailash Hospital in Sector 27, the Community Health Centres (CHCs) at Bhangel and Bisrakh, the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) and Sharda Hospital in Greater Noida,” Tyagi was quoted as saying in a statement.

    While reviewing the situation on Friday, DM Suhas L Y instructed all officials concerned to ensure adherence to all government guidelines and parameters during the vaccination. Chief Medical Officer Deepak Ohri said Gautam Buddh Nagar district has been provided 28,840 doses of the Covishield vaccine for the first round of vaccination on Saturday. The vaccines had arrived in sealed containers from Meerut and have been kept in the cold storage at the CMO’s in Noida in accordance with protocols amid high security.

  • Nearly 600 people penalised for caste stickers on vehicles in Noida

    NOIDA: Nearly 600 people with their vehicles bearing caste-identifying stickers were issued challans across Noida and Greater Noida on Saturday, police said.

    The action came during a campaign launched on instructions of Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissioner Alok Singh, they said.

    “On Saturday, 594 vehicle owners were issued challans for having stickers or paints that identified castes. All such stickers and paints were removed during the campaign held across the district,” a police spokesperson said.

    The district police have cautioned vehicle owners against putting up caste-identifying stickers on their cars or motorcycles in violation of road traffic rules, the officials said.
