Amid rising public complaints over deteriorating civic amenities, Noida CEO Ritu Maheshwari convened a crucial high-level meeting, unleashing a barrage of tough orders targeting water pollution and core services. The Wednesday pow-wow brought together department heads to strategize on pressing urban challenges plaguing the industrial powerhouse.

Taking center stage was the water contamination crisis, particularly from factories dumping chemicals into drains and lakes. Maheshwari mandated comprehensive audits of all effluent treatment systems, with non-compliant industries staring at heavy fines and shutdowns. ‘Clean water is non-negotiable; enforce compliance or seal operations,’ she asserted firmly.

The agenda extended to electricity disruptions, garbage overflows, and pothole-ridden roads. Directives flew thick and fast: expedite sewer line repairs in Sector 18, ramp up green waste segregation, and fast-track metro connectivity projects. Digital dashboards for real-time grievance tracking were also ordered to enhance transparency.

This aggressive push reflects the administration’s renewed vigor post-monsoon woes. Local businesses and residents alike expressed optimism, viewing it as a blueprint for Noida’s transformation into a model smart city. With enforcement teams on high alert, the coming weeks will test the resolve, potentially setting benchmarks for neighboring regions.

Traffic diversions are currently in effect at multiple roundabouts along the 130-meter road in Greater Noida West. U-turns have been established on both sides of the roundabouts to direct traffic flow. Temporary barriers have been deployed to close off these roundabouts. The Greater Noida Authority has stated that permanent barriers will be installed after the Kavad Yatra to permanently resolve congestion issues.

A temporary barrier, constructed using Noida Police barriers and iron grills secured with ropes, has been placed at the Ek Murti roundabout in Greater Noida West. However, these barriers are often circumvented by passersby, allowing two-wheelers and e-rickshaws to pass through, thereby disrupting the diversion plan and contributing to traffic jams.

The Greater Noida Authority has implemented traffic diversions from both directions of the roundabouts. A portion of the Iteda roundabout has been closed using broken streetlight poles, large stones, and iron barriers. The installation of permanent barriers is expected to alleviate congestion. While temporary measures have provided some relief, the absence of permanent barriers limits the effectiveness of the diversions.

Manish Kumar, a resident of Greater Noida West, submitted a complaint through the Chief Minister’s portal, advocating for the installation of permanent barriers to address the ongoing traffic congestion. Narottam Singh, Senior Manager of the Greater Noida Authority, responded that temporary barriers were put in place to facilitate smooth traffic flow during the Kavad Yatra and that the installation of permanent barriers would be considered after the event.
