  • Women of ‘Bihaan’ created new paradigms of success

    The women who till yesterday were living their life by doing agricultural labor or collecting forest produce. Today, simple rural women are entering such areas of self-employment, which no one had even thought about before, and having a fixed income in their hands has increased the confidence of these women a lot. Now their contribution to the income of the family is proving to be an important achievement. This miracle happened through the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (BIHAAN). The positive effect of this miracle has also happened on the members of ‘Tulsi’ self-help group of Bolbola, a small village in Kondagaon block. It should be known that in Kondagaon district, an organization named ‘Udaan’ run by the district administration under Bihan in the field of women self-employment. is employed. Through this institution, women are trained from various new areas of self-employment and self-reliance.
    Presently, Tulsi Self-Help Group of Village Bolbola trained from Udaan Institute is contributing in total 12 construction activities. In which works like spices manufacturing, cookies, bakery, biscuits, pickles, double-pattal manufacturing, non-wool bags, sleeper manufacturing are included. The president of this self-help group, Ms. Santoshi Netam, tells that there are 70 women working in her group. Most of these women are domestic or educated up to 12th standard, who have previously been doing only household work or farming, but now the situation has changed. This group includes not only the women of village Bolbola but also the women of nearby villages Badekanera, Jhadebendari, Karanji, Kokodi, Jondhrapadar, Sambalpur are also working enthusiastically. For all these works, women are earning Rs 200 per day. Due to which their financial condition has been strengthened.
