Manipur sets a shining example of reconciliation as 24 youth from Meitei, Kuki, Naga, and Pangal communities kickstart a landmark 11-day National Integration Tour. Spanning four states—Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and West Bengal—the expedition promises cultural immersion in destinations from Imphal to Kanyakumari, Mumbai, and Kolkata.

At the flag-off ceremony in Keithelmanbi’s Assam Rifles premises, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh lauded the 33rd Battalion for organizing this ‘National Integration Tour 2025-26’. Running March 3-13, it features equal representation: six from each community, embodying Manipur’s multicultural ethos.

Singh recounted the security forces’ heroism during ethnic violence, safely relocating over 47,000 displaced individuals. ‘Their rapid response saved lives,’ he noted, calling for generational healing. ‘Adults must not compromise children’s futures due to grudges; let’s focus on peace and progress.’

The event featured heartfelt exchanges, with the CM switching to Kuki for casual banter: inquiring about meals and motivating the group to seize the tour’s potential. Unity teams—one per community—received symbolic flags and travel kits, reinforcing collective identity.

Government backing was pledged, positioning this as a bridge-builder in a divided state. As participants set forth, the tour symbolizes hope, blending adventure with nation-building. It highlights how youth-led initiatives can mend divides, offering lessons in diversity and solidarity for the nation.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took a decisive step on Monday towards resolving Manipur’s leadership vacuum by launching the election process for a new Chief Minister. President’s Rule, in place…

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took a decisive step on Monday towards resolving Manipur’s leadership vacuum by launching the election process for a new Chief Minister. President’s Rule, in place since February 13 last year after N. Biren Singh stepped down amid escalating ethnic clashes, is nearing its end, prompting this timely action.

In a formal announcement, the BJP Parliamentary Board named National General Secretary Tarun Chugh as the central observer tasked with overseeing the selection of the legislature party leader in Manipur. This appointment underscores the party’s commitment to reinstating democratic rule swiftly.

While details on the timing of the MLAs’ meeting remain under wraps, indications are strong that BJP’s top brass will hold discussions with Manipur legislators in New Delhi soon. Party insiders reveal that numerous BJP and NDA coalition MLAs, including ex-CM Biren Singh and state BJP chief Adhkari Mayum Sharda Devi, have converged in the capital.

Sharda Devi, speaking to the media en route from Imphal, highlighted that the central leadership called all NDA MLAs to address key state concerns, with expectations of talks on forming a new government. Biren Singh added that the inclusive invitation to all allies gives him confidence in fruitful deliberations, though no detailed agenda was provided.

Recall that President’s Rule was clamped four days post Biren Singh’s resignation, against the backdrop of relentless violence between communities. With the rule expiring on February 12, and the assembly’s term intact until 2027, the pressure is on to reconstitute the government.

This development arrives at a critical juncture for Manipur, where restoring peace and governance remains paramount. The BJP’s methodical approach could stabilize the region, but success hinges on consensus among allies and addressing root causes of unrest. Eyes are now on the outcomes from Delhi.

President’s rule has been in effect in Manipur since February 2025, following the resignation of then-Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on February 9th. His departure led to a power vacuum,…

President’s rule has been in effect in Manipur since February 2025, following the resignation of then-Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on February 9th. His departure led to a power vacuum, necessitating the imposition of President’s rule. Now, renewed efforts are underway to establish a government in the state. This is underscored by the arrival of several Manipur leaders in Delhi. The Governor is also already in Delhi. President’s rule has been in place for over seven months.

BJP MLAs from Manipur have traveled to Delhi to meet with central leaders. The purpose of their visit is related to government formation. Former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, along with seven MLAs, has reached Delhi for discussions with central leaders.

Before departing for Delhi, N. Biren Singh stated, “I will discuss with central leaders to cooperate in the formation of a new government and to resolve the crisis faced by internally displaced people. I will also urge for the reopening of major highways as soon as possible.”

Two separate groups of MLAs have arrived in Delhi. Former Minister Sapam Ranjan Singh, Heikham Dingo Singh, and BJP MLA Thongbam Robindro Singh accompanied the former Chief Minister to Delhi on Saturday. Additionally, some MLAs from the Meitei community have also arrived in Delhi. These include former ministers Leishangthem Susindro Meitei, Thangjam Arun Kumar, and Lourembam Rameshwor. These two groups traveled to Delhi separately.

Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh, former Minister Govindas Konthoujam, and MLAs Kongkham Robindro, Sapam Kunjakeshwar, Thounaojam Shyamkumar, and Karam Shyam may also travel to Delhi today. The sudden influx of leaders to Delhi suggests that the formation of a Manipur government could be imminent. Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah recently visited Manipur.

President’s rule was imposed after the CM’s resignation. Hundreds of people have lost their lives in the violence in Manipur. Before the imposition of President’s rule on February 13th of this year, a BJP-led coalition government was in power in the state under the leadership of Biren Singh. Following the violence that began on May 3, 2023, N. Biren Singh resigned from his post on February 9, 2025. President’s rule was imposed four days later. President’s rule has been in effect for approximately seven months.

Manipur CM Resigns: Manipur CM N Biren Singh tendered his resignation from the post of Chief Minister on Sunday. He handed over the letter of resignation from the post of Chief…

Manipur CM Resigns: Manipur CM N Biren Singh tendered his resignation from the post of Chief Minister on Sunday. He handed over the letter of resignation from the post of Chief Minister to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at the Raj Bhavan in Imphal. Singh was accompanied by 14 MLAs belonging to the BJP and NPF. State BJP president A Sharda and senior saffron party leader Sambit Patra was also part of the delegation.

Singh’s resignation came nearly two years after the ethnic violence marred the northeastern state. The violence between the Meitei and the Kuki communities in Manipur erupted after a rally by the All Tribal Students Union of Manipur (ATSUM) on May 3, 2023, following the Manipur High Court order directing the state to consider the inclusion of the Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribes list.

After meeting the governor, Singh went to the CM secretariat. In his letter to the governor, Singh said, “It has been an honour to serve the people of Manipur thus far. I am extremely grateful to the central government for time actions, interventions, developmental work and implementation of various projects for safeguarding the interests of every single Manipuri.” This comes hours after he returned from Delhi.

On Saturday, Singh convened a meeting with BJP-led ruling alliance MLAs at the CM Secretariat in connection with the upcoming assembly session beginning February 10. The meeting was held in the wake of the opposition Congress seeking to move a no-confidence motion against the government led by Singh.
