Uttar Pradesh is accelerating its green energy drive through the PM Surya Ghar scheme, aiming to equip one crore homes with solar panels for free electricity up to 300 units per month. This flagship program by the central and state governments is transforming households into mini power producers.

Lavesh Kumar Sisodia, Project Officer at UP NEDA in Gautam Buddh Nagar, highlighted the scheme’s execution by UPNEDA’s Lucknow office. Beyond bill savings, participants can monetize excess generation by feeding it into the grid, fostering energy independence.

Subsidies are a game-changer: Rs 30,000 for 1 kW, Rs 60,000 for 2 kW, and Rs 78,000 max for 3 kW, credited directly to bank accounts after online verification. The hassle-free digital application starts with portal signup, discom nod, installation, and document upload—including net meter and banking info.

Financial support extends to collateral-free loans at 7% interest for up to 3 kW setups, democratizing solar access. Eligibility demands Indian residency, solar-friendly roofs, active connections, and no duplicate subsidies. Gather Aadhaar, bills, passbook, phone, and email to apply.

Hands-on assistance is available weekdays at UPNEDA’s Greater Noida office. As Uttar Pradesh embraces this solar revolution, the scheme promises not just free power but a sustainable future, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and boosting local economies.
