The first part of the story focuses on understanding these characters and resolving their conflicts. Subsequently, Monika enters the scene as their mother, Manjiri, and Kumud Mishra as Ambika Prasad. Ambika is the root of the family’s problems, even implicated in their father’s death.

Ambika exploits his power, with B becoming his right-hand man. The small town holds numerous stories and secrets, constantly revealing something new. The entry of Rinku (Vedika Pinto) into their lives alters everything. The question remains: will these brothers ever find the right path? To discover the answer, you must see the film in theaters.

Anurag Kashyap’s signature style is his candid and authentic approach. ‘Nishaanchi’ features profanity, action, and love, but something feels missing. The first half of the film is somewhat slow, allowing each character to establish themselves. However, the second half brings a change in atmosphere. The film’s greatest strength lies in its dialogues, which are colloquial and humorous. For example, when B tells Ambika, ‘Do you want to play Mughal-e-Azam or Hum Aapke Hain Koun…?’ such punches provide much amusement. However, the film attempts to convey too many things at once, which can sometimes be burdensome.

Aishwarya Thackeray has excelled in his debut film. His double role as W and B is commendable. While B’s aggressive character may appeal to many, his portrayal of the straightforward W appears more impactful. Monika delivers a remarkable performance as a mother. Vedika’s role is good, but she doesn’t leave a significant impact. Seasoned actors like Zeeshan Ayyub and Kumud Mishra also make their mark in supporting roles. Although Vineet Singh has limited screen time, his work is, as always, excellent.

The cinematography of the film is outstanding. Every scene is beautifully filmed. However, the film feels lengthy in several places. Vineet Singh’s backstory and some songs seem stretched out. It appears that more could have been done in editing. There is also a surprise at the end of the film. What that surprise is, you will have to watch this movie to find out.

The film has many positive aspects, such as its powerful dialogues that will repeatedly make you laugh and ponder. The actors’ performances are outstanding, and Anurag Kashyap’s distinct style is evident, setting it apart from other films. However, the film also has some weaknesses. The story sometimes slows down, which can lead to boredom. Some scenes seem unnecessarily drawn out, and it seems like the film tries to show too much at once, making the story a bit convoluted.

Anurag Kashyap has made a comeback in Bollywood, and ‘Nishaanchi’ is proof of that, although some shortcomings remain. Part 2 of the film is coming, and it is hoped that the team will address those shortcomings. If you are a fan of cinema and Anurag Kashyap’s world, you must watch this film. Yes, it is not ‘Gangs of Wasseypur,’ nor does it need to be. It’s a film that will make you laugh, get disappointed at times, but sometimes make you say from the heart – ‘Wow!’.
