  • Moose Wala case: Punjab police gets transit remand of four accused

    CHANDIGARH: The Punjab police on Monday said it has got a transit remand of four people, including two shooters, in the Sidhu Moose Wala murder case from Delhi’s Patiala House Court.

    Punjabi singer Moose Wala was killed on May 29 in Mansa.

    The police have been granted transit remand of accused Priyavrat, alias Fauzi (main shooter), Kashish, alias Kuldeep (shooter), Deepak, alias Tinu (close aide of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi), and Keshav Kumar (who provided vehicle and helped in escaping shooters), according to an official statement.

    The court said in its order that as the arrested have been accused of committing a cognisable offence, the transit remand was granted to produce them before the court concerned as early as possible.

    The order further stated that a medical examination of the accused be conducted as per rules and guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court.

    The Delhi Police had arrested three people, including Fauzi, on June 19 from Kutch in Gujarat in connection with the killing of Moose Wala. Fauzi was the main shooter and executioner of the murder, the Delhi Police had said.

    Earlier, Punjab Additional Director General of Police and head of Anti-Gangster Task Force Pramod Ban said gangster Bishnoi has admitted that he was the mastermind in Sidhu Moosewala’s killing.

    Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, also known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29, a day after the Punjab government pruned the security cover of the singer and 423 people temporarily.

  • Delhi Police identifies six shooters involved in Moose Wala murder case

    NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police has identified six shooters allegedly involved in the murder of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, a senior police officer said on Friday.

    H S Dhaliwal, Special Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, told media that the singer’s death was an organised and brazen killing.

    During the media briefing, he said the police had issued eight pictures of the suspects and six of the shooters were identified.

    Out of them, the role of four in the murder, which took place in Punjab’s Mansa last month, has been established. The Delhi Police had on Wednesday said gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was the mastermind behind the murder.

    Siddhesh Hiraman Kamle alias Mahakal was arrested earlier this week from Pune in a joint operation with the Maharashtra Police in a case under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act in connection with the incident.

  • Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi mastermind behind Sidhu Moosewala murder: Delhi Police

    NEW DELHI: Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi who is currently in the Delhi Police’s custody is the mastermind in the Sidhu Moose Wala murder case, Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) H S Dhaliwal said on Wednesday.

    Addressing a press conference, Dhaliwal said that the police have arrested Siddhesh Hiraman Kamle, alias Mahakal, a close associate of the main shooter in the killing of the popular singer and Congress leader.

    The police said Mahakal has been arrested from Pune and added that five more suspects have been identified in connection with the murder case.

    On May 29, Moosewala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Punjab’s Mansa district.

  • Moosewala killing: Punjab Police nabs third suspect from Haryana

    BATHINDA: The Punjab Police has arrested another person in connection with the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, taking the number of people held in the case so far to three.

    Davinder alias Kala was nabbed on Sunday evening from Haryana’s Fatehabad.

    Two suspects involved in the killing had allegedly stayed with him police sources said on Monday.

    On June 3, two other suspects were nabbed by the Punjab Police from Fatehabad and their roles in Moosewala’s killing were being probed.

    Two days after the killing of Moosewala in Mansa district, the Punjab Police on Tuesday made the first arrest in this case.

    The arrested person, Manpreet Singh, was accused of providing logistic support to the assailants.

    On May 29, Moosewala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Punjab’s Mansa district, a day after the state government curtailed his security cover.

    His cousin and a friend, who were travelling in a jeep with him, were also injured in the attack.

    Moosewala was among the 424 people whose security was withdrawn or curtailed by the Punjab Police on a temporary basis.

    The state police had termed the incident a case of an inter-gang rivalry and had said the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind the killing.

    Canada-based Goldy Brar, who is a member of the gang, had claimed the responsibility for the murder. 

  • Moosewala murder: Punjab government’s request for probe by sitting HC judge turned down

    CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government’s request for a probe by a sitting high court judge into the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala has not been accepted, according to sources.

    The sources said a communication in this regard has been sent to the state government by the court administration.

    The HC administration is learnt to have told the government that it cannot spare a judge.

    The high court is short of 38 judges with a pendency of around 4.50 lakh cases.

    There was no immediate reaction from the state government.

    Moosewala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Punjab’s Mansa district On May 29.

    The Punjab government had Monday announced setting up a judicial commission headed by a sitting HC judge after Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh had sought it.

    Punjab’s Principal Secretary (Home) Anurag Verma in a letter to HC, Registrar General, on May 30, had written, “The government is very concerned about this serious incident and would like to get to the root of the cause to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice.”

    “I have been directed to convey the request of the Hon’ble Chief Minister for the Hon’ble Chief Justice, Punjab and Haryana High Court to get conducted an enquiry headed by a sitting judge of the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High court in this regard.”

    The family of Moosewala has also written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking a probe by the central agencies into the brutal murder of the famous Punjabi singer.

    Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had visited Moosewala’s home in Mansa on Friday, assuring the slain singer’s family that his killers would soon be behind bars.
