  • Concepts like `Varna’ and `Jaati’ should be completely discarded: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat

    By PTI

NAGPUR: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday said the concepts like `Varna’ and `Jaati’ (caste) should be completely discarded.

Speaking at a book release function here, he said the caste system has no relevance now.

Citing the book that was released, “Vajrasuchi Tunk” written by Dr Madan Kulkarni and Dr Renuka Bokare, the RSS chief said social equality was a part of the Indian tradition, but it was forgotten and this led to damaging consequences.

Referring to the claim that the Varna and caste system originally did not have discrimination and had its uses, Bhagwat said if today someone asked about these institutions, the answer must be that “it is past, let’s forget it.”

“Everything that causes discrimination should go out lock, stock and barrel,” the RSS chief said.

He also said the previous generations made mistakes everywhere, and India was no exception.

“There should not be any problem accepting those mistakes. And if you think that by accepting that our ancestors made mistakes they will become inferior, that won’t happen because everybody’s ancestors made mistakes,” Bhagwat added.

  • RSS chief a ‘rashtra pita’, says All India Imam Organisation head after meeting with Bhagwat

    By PTI

NEW DELHI: Taking forward his outreach to the Muslim community, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday visited a mosque and a madrassa here and held discussions with the chief of the All India Imam Organisation who termed him ‘rashtra pita’.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ‘sarsangchalak’ went to a mosque in central Delhi’s Kasturba Gandhi Marg and followed it up with a visit to the Madarsa Tajweedul Quran in Azadpur in north Delhi.

This is the first time he has visited a madrassa, an RSS official accompanying him said.

All India Imam Organisation chief Umer Ahmed Ilyasi used the ‘rashtra pita’ descriptive for Bhagwat while talking to children at the madrassa.

However, Bhagwat intervened to say there is only one father of the nation and said everyone is ‘Bharat ki santan’ (child of the nation), according to the RSS official.

He said the RSS chief also spoke to the children about the need to know more about the nation and stressed that while the modes of worship could be different, all religions must be respected.

Ilyasi and Bhagwat held talks for about an hour at the mosque, which also houses the office of the All India Imam Organisation and the cleric’s residence.

““He is a ‘rashtra pita’. We discussed several issues for strengthening the country,” Ilyasi told PTI, adding that Bhagwat had visited the mosque as well as madrassa on his invitation.

“With this visit of Bhagwat, a message should go that we all want to work towards strengthening India. For all of us, the nation comes first. Our DNA is the same, it is just that our religion and methods of worshipping god are different,” Ilyasi said, echoing the RSS chief’s words.

Bhagwat was accompanied by senior Sangh functionaries, including joint general secretary Krishna Gopal and Muslim Rashtriya Manch patron Indresh Kumar.

In a statement after the visits, RSS Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar said, “Sarsanghachalak meets people from all walks of life. It is a part of the continuous general ‘Samvad’ process.”

The significant visits by the head of the BJP’s ideological mentor came on a day multiple probe agencies conducted raids across the country and arrested more than 100 activists of the Popular Front of India for allegedly supporting terror activities in the country.

The RSS chief has been holding discussions with Muslim intellectuals for strengthening communal harmony over the last few weeks.

He recently met Delhi’s former lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung, former chief election commissioner S Y Quraishi, former Aligarh Muslim University vice chancellor Zameer Uddin Shah, former MP Shahid Siddiqui as well as businessman Saeed Shervani.

During the meeting, Bhagwat reportedly raised the issue of the usage of the word “kafir” for Hindus, which he said does not send out a good message.

The group of Muslim intellectuals, on their part, objected to some right-wing activists calling Muslims “jihadi” and “Pakistanis”.

They also reportedly told Bhagwat that the real intent behind the word ‘kafir’ was something different but it is now being used as an ‘abuse’ in some quarters.

The RSS chief, it is learnt, acknowledged the views of the intellectuals and underscored that the “DNA of all Hindus and Muslims are same”.

The All India Imam Organisation is the representative voice of the community of Indian imams and claims to be the largest imam organisation in the world.

  • Teaching Dharma to world the real purpose of India in times of war, bigotry: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat

    Express News Service

BHOPAL: The Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Saturday that the prime objective of India’s existence was to teach Dharma to the world.

“In times when the world is facing social evils, wars, bigotry and environmental crises, only Dharma can help overcome these problems. Swami Vivekananda said that India needs to live for the world and not for its own interests. It’s the duty of Indians living abroad to render in those countries, the goodness of Hindu culture,” Bhagwat said while addressing the conclusion of Sangh’s training camp for its workers (male and female) from 13 nations in Bhopal.

While quoiting Aurobindo Ghosh, the famous writer who formed part of India’s freedom struggle, the RSS chief said, “Lord Krishna appeared before him (Aurobindo) in the cellular jail and told him that Hindu Rashtra was the precondition for the utthan (uplift) of the Sanatan Dharma. At that time (Aurobindo) wasn’t aware that the RSS would be formed and its swayamsewaks will spread the message of coexistence across the world in the times to come.”

“Indians have been assets in whichever country they’ve gone to, they’ve never proved to be a blot for any nation. The world needs Dharma that gives balance and teaches coordination. Only the Indians can teach the real Dharma to the world.”

Bhagwat further said five years before RSS was founded, Dr KB Hedgewar was the Vyavastha Pramukh of the Indian National Congress’s Nagpur session, which was presided by Mahatma Gandhi. At the conclave, the RSS founder had suggested two proposals, firstly total ban on cow slaughter and that Congress declare India’s total independence as its prime objective. It also embodied another proposal about declaring that independent India will liberate the world from poonji ke changul (clutches of economic materialism). The canvas of that thought was vast, which embodied twin objects, the total independence of India and liberation of the world from clutches of economic materialism by independent India.”

The training camp which started on July 17 as part of the Vishwa Sangh Shiksha Varg was attended by male and female participants from 13 countries.

Earlier in the day, a team of Bhopal Police suddenly arrived at the MP Congress Committee headquarters, following announcement by the party’s state vice president (media) Sangeeta Sharma about gifting the Indian tricolour and a book titled “RSS ka Vastavik Swaroop aur Itihas” to the RSS chief, who is on a three-day tour to Bhopal.

As per the announced plans, the Congress workers, including state party general secretary and head of media wing KK Mishra and vice president-media Sangeeta Sharma tried to move ahead in vehicles. But the cops stopped them from going ahead and took the national tricolour for being gifted to the RSS chief.

  • There is less intimidation from Hindu side, claims RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat while calling for communal harmony

    By PTI

NAGPUR: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday said no community should resort to extremism, but also claimed that there has been less “intimidation” from the Hindu side.

He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of the third year Sangh Shiksha Varg (officers’ training camp) here.

Hindus should realize that Muslims are descendants of their own ancestors and their “brothers by blood relation”, Bhagwat said.

“If they want to come back then we would welcome them with open arms. Even if they do not come back, it does not matter, we already have 33 crore gods, more will be added…everyone is following their religion,” he said.

“Everyone should understand and respect the sentiments of each other. There should be no extremism in the heart, in the words or in the work. There should not be words of intimidation from both sides,” the RSS chief said.

“Though it is less from the Hindu side. Hindus have maintained a lot of restraint. Hindus have paid a lot of price for this unity, even at the cost of (accepting) the division of the country. Even then such voices (of intimidation) come from their side and no one from their side protests against it,” Bhagwat further said.

If there is extremism on any side, it should be criticised, he said, adding that Hindus do object to extremism.

“The Hindu community does not accept any kind of extremism. Hence all kind of people came into the Hindu community (sought shelter from the Hindus), be it the Jews or Parsis,” Bhagwat further said.

He also said that the Hindus should “improve their Hindu character” and become more powerful.

A united Hindu community has the potential to create a new world by resolving global conflicts, Bhagwat said.

  • No need to look for Shiv Ling in every mosque: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat

  • Sangh is competitor to nobody but ally in welfare of religion and nation: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat

    By PTI

BHOPAL: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said that the Sangh is not a competitor to anyone but an ally to various organisations, institutions and individuals working for the welfare of religion and the nation.

He was speaking during the concluding session of the RSS affiliated think-tank Prajna Pravah’s Akhil Bharatiya Chintan Baithak (All India brainstorming meeting) in Bhopal on Sunday. Apart from Bhagwat, several academicians and intellectuals, including vice-chancellors of various universities and eminent historians and economists, participated in the two-day meet.

“Sangh is not a competitor to anyone but an ally to various organisations, institutions and individuals working for the welfare of religion and the nation,” a press release quoted Bhagwat as saying. He called upon everyone to build a greater humanity by cooperating with each other in a systematic way.

Truth, compassion, purity and diligence are the basic qualities of all Indian religions, he said, adding, “Dharma is protected by its conduct. Our virtues and religion are our wealth and weapons.”

Ekatma Manav Darshan Anusandhan Evam Vikas Pratishthan president Mahesh Chandra Sharma, who talked about Hindutva and politics, said, “Ours is not geographical, but geo-cultural nationalism. If the political nation-building of the world is to be humanised, then its Hinduisation (Hindukaran) is necessary.”

The Constitution needs refinement and not an award or boycott, he said. “While Indianising democracy, we should make efforts towards establishing ‘Dharma Rajya’,” Sharma added. RSS leader Ram Madhav said Hindutva is not a way of life but a vision of life.

Hinduism is reaching different countries through various spiritual organisations and its attraction among people is increasing day-by-day, he said. Hinduism gives a holistic solution to the current global problems, be it environmental, health or technology-related, Madhav added.

The release said that Prajna Pravah holds such meetings regularly with the aim of discussing socio-cultural topics.

  • Bhagwat, Mulayam in same frame, SP faces Congress jibes over photo

    By PTI

LUCKNOW: A photograph of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat sitting with Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav has set tongues wagging in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, with the Congress taunting that the S in SP means the Sangh.

This prompted a sharp response from SP chief Akhilesh Yadav who accused the BJP and the Congress of driving political mileage out of a social event.

In a tweet in Hindi, the UP Congress had said, “Does the ‘S’ in the ‘new SP’ mean ‘Sanghvaad’?” The photograph was taken at the wedding reception for Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu’s granddaughter in Delhi on Monday.

The SP veteran is wearing his party’s red cap.

SP’s rivals are insinuating that Yadav’s alleged hobnobbing with the Sangh Parivar leader might have something to do with the recent Income Tax raids at some close associates of Akhilesh Yadav.

The SP has said the BJP government at the Centre is “misusing” the enforcement agencies to put pressure on the opposition party.

Union minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, who turned 68 on Monday, is also soon in the picture, which he had tweeted.

“Took blessings from the most revered sarsanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Dr Mohan Bhagwat. Your love, cooperation and guidance always inspire me to serve Mother India by walking on the path of duty,” he wrote in Hindi.

The UP BJP in a tweet in Hindi on Tuesday said, “The picture says a lot.”

In reaction, the SP tweeted in Hindi, “The picture says something, and it unveils a secret that someone had come to tell” the ‘unupyogi’ (useless) one is all set to go, and the cyclists are all set to come in.”

The SP had earlier termed Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath “unupyogi” after Prime Minister Narendra Modi came up with the line “UP plus Yogi bahut hai upyogi”, suggesting that the CM is very useful for the state.

Asked to comment on the photo during the party’s rath yatra in Mainpuri, Akhilesh Yadav said this was not the only picture from the wedding reception.

“A number of senior leaders of the country were present there including Sharad Pawar ji. I also saw another photo in which Supriya Sule (Pawar’s daughter) is meeting Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav), and Netaji is blessing her.”

He said it depended on who sees what in the picture, and the BJP and the Congress are the “same”.

“The photo says that their (BJP’s) big leader met Netaji, and he blessed Netaji and said that Baba ji (Adityanath) is going and the Samajwadis are coming,” he told a TV news channel, predicting the outcome of the assembly polls early next year.

  • Country will disintegrate if Hindus grow weaker in number, power: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat

    By Express News Service

BHOPAL: “Bharat (India) and Hindu cannot be separate. If Bharat (India) wants to remain as Bharat (India) then Bharat (India) will have to remain Hindu and if Hindu wants to remain as Hindu, then Bharat (India) will have to be kept Akhand (undivided),” RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Saturday, November 27, 2021.

Addressing an event to mark the completion of 50 years of the Swadesh newspaper group in Gwalior on Saturday evening, the RSS chief said the country will disintegrate whenever Hindu will become weak in power and numbers.

“Why did (Bharat) India disintegrate or why did Pakistan happen. The Hindus there became weak in power first and then in numbers, which is why Pakistan became Pakistan and not Hindustan or Bharat. The same land was the birthplace of Vedas and also the place where Sanskrit Vyakran evolved. Even Sindhu from which the word Hindu originated is there (in modern Pakistan). But still, when the country was partitioned, the land which became Pakistan didn’t wish to be named as Bharat or Hindustan,” Bhagwat said.

Bhagwat’s linking of the creation of Pakistan with the weakening of Hindus, came just two days after he, during a book launch event in Noida (UP) targeted those, who talk about dividing India, saying that India had a major setback at the time of Partition that cannot be forgotten and will never be repeated.

At the Gwalior event on Saturday evening, where MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan was among those present, the RSS chief while cautioning about the decline in the numbers and power of Hindus, said in all such parts of the country, there is rising instability, a threat to unity and integration as well as major social and economic problems.

  • UP: Ad agency owner booked for using pictures of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in hoardings

    By PTI

MUZAFFARNAGAR: The owner of an advertising agency has been booked here for allegedly using pictures of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in its hoardings, police said on Monday.

According to Station House Officer (SHO) Brijender Kumar Rawat, a case against the agency’s owner, Satay Parkash Reshu, was registered on Sunday under section 505(1) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on a complaint by district Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Surender Singh.

According to an FIR lodged with the police after Singh’s complaint, it was alleged that the agency’s owner had been using pictures of Bhagwat in its hoardings for advertisement.

The complainant had asked him to remove the pictures from its hoardings but he failed to do so, they said.

An investigation into the case is underway, police said.
