A prominent figure in the farming community, Dudi held the position of Leader of the Opposition during the BJP government’s tenure from 2013 to 2018. He also served as a Member of Parliament representing Bikaner. His wife, Sushila Dudi, is currently a Congress MLA. Funeral arrangements are scheduled to take place in Bikaner later today.

In 2013, he retained the seat under the Congress banner. Later, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2017 and secured the Dharmanagar seat again in the 2018 election. He was re-elected for a fourth time in the 2023 assembly elections.
