  • Xiaomi Removes Charger From Box After Mocking Apple For It

Only a few weeks after mocking Apple for not including a charger with its iPhone 12 series smartphones, Xiaomi appears to be doing the same. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has now confirmed that the company’s latest flagship – the Mi 11 – will not bundle a charger inside. This despite the fact that back in October, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer had taken a pointed dig at Apple, boasting on Twitter that it “didn’t leave anything out of the box with the #Mi10TPro.”

Several Twitter users took to the microblogging platform to troll Xiaomi for doing the same thing that it had criticised Apple for.Samsung – Apple’s biggest rival which had also mocked the company for not including a charger with the iPhone 12 series – got caught in the crossfire.

  • Xiaomi Mi 11 Tipped to Launch on December 29, Alleged Camera Sample Revealed

Xiaomi Mi 11 could launch on December 29, according to a new report. The phone will be a follow-up to the Xiaomi Mi 10 series and the Mi 10T series. Mi 11 will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 888 SoC, as previously confirmed by Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lei Jun. Additionally, a camera imaging sample from Mi 11 may have been revealed by Redmi product director Wang Teng Thomas on Weibo. As of now, it is unclear when the phone will be launched but a previous report has also claimed an end-of-year release, adding weightage to the recent development.

According to a report by Gizmochina citing a source, Xiaomi is said to launch Mi 11 on December 29. It is unclear if this will be a global launch or a China-only launch. While the company has not officially shared the release date for the phone, a previous report from earlier this month also stated that the Mi 11 will launch sometime around the end of December. Two models are expected in the Mi 11 series as of now – the vanilla Mi 11 and the high-end Mi 11 Pro.

Coming to the camera sample, Redmi product director Wang Teng Thomas shared an image of Xiaomi Technology Park – the company’s Beijing headquarters – on Weibo. This particular post, unlike other posts from Thomas on the Chinese microblogging website, did not reveal which phone was used to capture the image, leading to speculations of it being taken on Mi 11. Thomas also somewhat acknowledged the fact that the phone’s name was missing when a fan pointed it out.

  • Donald Trump Shares Baseless Claim About 6,000 ‘fake’ Biden Votes In Arizona

Even though the Trump administration has initiated the formal process of transition of power to president-elect Joe Biden, incumbent Donald Trump has continued to post baseless claims about voter fraud on Twitter. Recently on November 24, Trump reposted a tweet labelled ‘disputed’ by the website, of a user falsely claiming that 6,000 “fake Biden votes” were uncovered in Arizona. Meanwhile, several key states have certified the election results indicating the same results as major American networks had projected that Biden will be the 46th US President.

However, Trump supporters have been running a baseless campaign on the microblogging website, with internet users posting untrue claims of fraud during vote counting. The Twitter user had posted, “Report: 6K fake Biden votes found in Arizona ‘lead’ drops to 4K” and even posted a screenshot a pro-Trump media outlet with the same “report” in the text running on the screen. But the report quoted by the user and that was also retweeted by Trump is false.

However, the ‘bunk’ news appeared to refer to a temporary tally change that had occurred during the unofficial election results due to an error during uploading with one of the county’s results. Even hours before the claim was posted on social media, the claim was clarified from Arizona’s Secretary of State Katie Hobbs. Taking to Twitter, Hobbs said that the numbers were displayed incorrectly because of a glitch while uploading.

  • After Twitter, Amazon’s Alexa now claims Jammu and Kashmir is part of China, netizens fume

Days after microblogging platform Twitter labelled the Indian territory of Leh in Ladakh as part of People’s Republic of China (PRC), Amazon’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered virtual assistant Alexa has now embroiled in a similar controversy.

The social media backlash against the tech company began after a Twitter user uploaded a video where Alexa categorised Kashmir as a part of China’s territory. “Alexa, Kashmir kis desh ka hissa hai (Alexa, Kashmir is a part of which country?)”, the twitter user asked Alexa in Hindi. The AI-powered Alexa Echo replied, “Ya aapka sawal ka jawab ho sakta hai. Kashmir China mein sthit hai (This can be an answer to your question. Kashmir is located in China).” Another Twitter user then tried finding the same answer about the location of Kashmir. Alexa replied, “This can be an answer to your question. Kashmir is located in China.Opindia has independently verified the claims made on social media about Alexa. However, the error is only limited to the Hindi version. When the language is changed to English, Alexa says that Kashmir is a part of Northern India.
