Reservation was taken for the election of the post of Mayor of the newly formed Municipal Corporation Risali under Durg district. Reservation of the post of Mayor of Municipal Corporation Risali as Other Backward Class (Women) was announced by the prescribed authority. Reservation proceedings today at Indravati Bhawan, Nava Raipur, Prescribed authority Shri R. Done by Ekka.
Officials of the civic body said that out of 14 municipal corporations in the state, 13 municipal corporations had already been reserved. Presently, only Municipal Corporation Risali was to be reserved. Therefore, the reservation action was taken on the basis of the reservation made in the past, in which the reservation of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes had already been done. According to reservation rules, 04 posts are to be reserved for 14 backward classes in 14 municipal corporations, but 03 posts were reserved earlier. Hence, Municipal Corporation Risali was declared for Other Backward Classes for the remaining 01 posts.
Similarly, as per rules 33 percent reservation is available for women in municipal corporations. In the past, reservation has been given for 04 posts of women. Reservation of the post of Mayor of Municipal Corporation Risali as Other Backward Class (Women) for the remaining 01 posts was announced by the prescribed authority.
