    Following the success of Barbie, the recently released live-action film based on Mattel’s iconic doll, the toy company has planned to make a film on Polly Pocket, a toy line of dolls and accessories hailing from the same manufacturer.

    The upcoming project will star Emily in Paris actor Lily Collins in the lead and will be helmed by Lena Dunham.

    Speaking about the upcoming project, Robbie Brenner, who is in charge of films being developed in Mattel and also produced Barbie, said that the script is in place and added, “It’s been an amazing collaboration.

    Lena is so collaborative and rolls up her sleeves and really likes to roll around in notes and listen. Lily is so smart and so specific and so productorial. It’s just been an incredible collaboration, so we are thrilled about it.”

  • Will Ferrell boards Margot Robbie’s ‘Barbie’ movie at Warner Bros

    LOS ANGELES: Hollywood actor Will Ferrell is the latest to join the star-studded cast of Warner Bros’ “Barbie” movie, led by Margot Robbie.

    Gerwig is directing the movie from a script she co-wrote with her filmmaker partner Noah Baumbach.

    Ferrell, 54, joins Robbie as well as actors Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey and America Ferrera in the project.

    According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ferrell is said to be playing the CEO of a toy company that may or not be Mattel.

    In addition to starring, Robbie is producing the movie under her LuckyChap Entertainment banner along with Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara.

    Mattel’s Robbie Brenner and David Heyman are also on board as producers.

    LuckyChap’s Josey McNamara and Mattel’s Ynon Kreiz will serve as executive producers.

    Ferrell was last seen in Netflix movie “Eurovision”, co-starring Rachel McAdams and Pierce Brosnan.

    He also appeared in Apple TV’s black comedy series “The Shrink Next Door” with Paul Rudd.

  • Ariana Greenblatt joins Margot Robbie-fronted ‘Barbie’

    LOS ANGELES: “A Quiet Place” child star Ariana Greenblatt is the latest to board Warner Bros’ “Barbie”, a film centred on the iconic doll line from Mattel.

    Directed by Greta Gerwig, the movie stars Margot Robbie in the title role and Ryan Gosling as Ken.

    It is unknown who 14-year-old Greenblatt will be playing, reported Deadline.

    Also part of the ensemble cast are America Ferrara, Kate McKinnon and Simu Liu Plot details are unknown and Gerwig co-wrote the script with her partner, filmmaker-writer Noah Baumbach.

    Robbie is producing the film under her LuckyChap Entertainment along with production banner’s Tom Ackerley.

    Robbie Brenner also will produce “Barbie” through Mattel, as will David Heyman via Heyday Films.

    LuckyChap’s Josey McNamara and Mattel’s Ynon Kreiz are attached to executive produce the movie.

    Greenblatt will next be seen in Eli Roth’s “Borderlands” adaptation and the thriller “65”, a Sony film.
