    Presently following the lockdown, following the rules of Central and State Government, Bastar District Congress Committee (City) President Rajiv Sharma, MLA Rekhachand Jain, Mayor Safira Sahu, Chairman Kavita Sahu and Congressmen on the death anniversary of former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi Laid a wreath. The District Congress Committee distributed masks, sanitizers, soaps etc. through the block presidents in all the block headquarters including the district headquarters. Citizens and villagers were advised to follow the guide line of the government and be vigilant about their health to protect against the corona virus.

  • ‘Mask Hai Na’: Assam Police wears wit to mask up people amid Covid spike

    GUWAHATI: Wit and humour have been found universally to be effective ingredients in public interest campaigns.

    Even in these difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Assam Police has made sure it does not lose its witty side.

    Playing on the Shahrukh Khan-starrer “Main Hoon Na”, the Assam Police has launched a social media campaign for mask-wearing. It shared a poster of the Bollywood superstar on Twitter with the tagline “Mask Hai Na!”

    “Corona ki hogi haar because mask hai na”. Another tweet reads: “Together we can beat it, 6 feet apart to defeat it”.

    Additional Director General of Police, Harmeet Singh said: “These messages are very effective, for they quickly catch the attention of the public. They do get more traction than normal press releases, etc”.

    Almost on a daily basis, the Assam Police is trying to reach out to people through social media to try and make them adhere to the government-issued guidelines to keep the virus at bay.

    Leading the campaign, Director General of Police, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta is insisting on a mass movement for mask-wearing.

    “How much can one achieve by beating up people and penalizing them for not wearing the mask? There should be a mass movement for mask-wearing. People themselves have to realise it,” Mahanta said.

    He added: “We are emphasizing on creating a task force with concerned departments, like DDMA and Municipal Corporations, for making mask-wearing mandatory in public places. But this can’t be done successfully without the cooperation and commitment from each one of us”.

    Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal held a meeting with senior officials of the government on Monday to prepare a roadmap to combat the disease.

    “Discussed the roadmap ahead to combat the ongoing #COVID19 situation in presence of Health Minister Shri @himantabiswa and senior officials in Guwahati. We are taking all measures to keep citizens safe and healthy. Do #WearMask and please follow Govt guidelines,” Sonowal tweeted.

  • Madhya Pradesh: 258 people without masks sent to temporary jail in Indore

    INDORE: In a bid to inculcate the pandemic appropriate behaviour among people, more than 250 citizens who were found roaming in public places without wearing masks here in Madhya Pradesh have been sent to a temporary jail in the last five days, an official said on Tuesday.

    On the directives of the local administration, a community guesthouse in Snehlataganj area of Indore with the capacity to accommodate 300 people at a time, was designated as a temporary jail, Rakesh Kumar Bhangre, superintendent of the Central Jail told PTI.

    “During the last five days, a total of 258 people from different areas of the city have been brought to this temporary jail under section 151 (Precautionary arrests made to prevent cognisable offences) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC). These people were roaming in public places without wearing masks,” he said.

    Bhangre said these inmates at the temporary jail are usually released within three hours of admission.

    Before adopting this measure, people found without wearing masks were asked to give a bond that they will follow all the COVID-19 guidelines.

    Bhangre said 15 personnel have been deployed in the temporary jail and CCTV cameras are also installed.

    Indore remains the most affected district by the pandemic in Madhya Pradesh.

    A total of 805 new COVID-19 cases were found in Indore district in the last 24 hours, which is the highest spike in a day, officials said on Tuesday.

    The district recorded total 74,029 cases so far including 977 fatalities, as per officials.

  • G’gram police to get 25 PCR vehicles

    In an order to reduce response time and ensure police presence on city roads, the Gurugram Police  will soon get  25 police control room (PCR) vans donated by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG).

    These vans (Maruti Suzuki Ertiga) equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) to track the location of police personnel, sirens, flashlights, masks, reflectors, night vision, night jackets, torches, first-aid boxes and other essential police accessories.

    The figure for such vehicles will be increased by 100. Soon the district all police stations will get two PCR vans each, an official said.

    Expressing his views about dial 100 Commissioner of police K K Rao said, “When a person in distress dials 100, the exact location of the caller is identified immediately, and police station within the jurisdiction of the location of the call is intimated and action will be taken within 5 to 10 minutes”.

    He explained that a GPS system identifies the nearest location of the Police Emergency Response vehicle and the police are able to reach the caller within the prescribed time.

    “We just want to improve police presence on city roads and decrease police response time. It is an improved version of earlier systems which gives minute details about route followed, distance and area covered (in km), duration of stay at any location during the day, details about police official riding the bike, PCR vans with his contact number, it will help to reach the crime scene at a specific time, current and past locations, points checked by them etc,” Rao said.

    These PCR vans have been connected to the police control room. So that the nearest PCR riders can reach on time and help victims. Each van has their own particular number along with rider contact number and same will be monitored at

    police commissioner’s office. To track the location of cops a special screen will be installed at the Police Commissioner’s office.

    Meanwhile, the department has identified the points which the police personnel will patrol and these are DLF area, Sushant Lok, South City, MG Road, Leisure Valley Park, Gurudwara Road, Rajiv Chowk,  Iffco Chowk, Shankar Chowk, Sector-14, Sadar Bazaar, Metro Stations, Bus Stand and Railway station.

    As of now, the department has 208 bikes riders and

    144 PCRs in which 63 Gypsy, 26 Sumo, 21 Bolero and 34 Tavera.
