  • Mark Ruffalo returns to role of Bruce Banner in ‘She-Hulk’

    By IANS

MUMBAI: Actor Mark Ruffalo, who is returning to the iconic role of Bruce Banner/Hulk in ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’, has called his character an “unwanted mentor” in She-Hulk’s life.

Exploring the legacy of the Incredible Hulk in detail for the first time since 2008, the series will introduce Emmy Award-winning actress Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk. With her specialisation in superhuman-oriented legal cases, Maslany will navigate her new smashing green persona and her role as a lawyer in the series.

Jennifer Walters didn’t volunteer to be a superhero. She’s not from another planet-wasn’t born with superhuman abilities. She gained Hulk’s incredible strength following a serious car accident and her subsequent efforts to help her cousin, who happens to be Bruce Banner.

Actor Mark Ruffalo calls The Hulk an “unwanted mentor” in She-Hulk’s life.

“She doesn’t want anything to do with what he’s offering. But she doesn’t understand the power she’s been given or what it’s going to mean for her life, and he knows that it’s not easy to live with, so he’s trying to prepare her as best he can. They have a great rapport, and Bruce is excited to have someone who can relate to him on a Hulk level,” he added.

Maslany, who loved working with Mark, said he works from a place of a child-like openness.

“I loved working with Mark. So much of our work together is in those mocap suits-we’re just two babies in weird onesies who get to wrestle and make fun of each other, added Tatiana. For Ruffalo, sharing the stage with another mocap performer is particularly special. “Other actors usually want to run away from me in those scenes: I’m on a box, covered in dots with a head cam right in the centre of my face.

“It’s not a natural experience for them. I did scenes with another actor in the same position for the first time. We see that Bruce/Hulk is grief-stricken and lonely but free in a way he’s never been before. It’s been exciting,” added Ruffalo.

Along with Maslany, the nine-episode comedy series stars Ginger Gonzaga as Nikki Ramos, Jennifer’s best friend and paralegal; Jameela Jamil as superhuman Titania, She-Hulk’s nemesis and Tim Roth as surprise new client Emil Blonsky/Abomination.

The series also features special appearances by Mark Ruffalo as Jennifer’s cousin Bruce Banner/Hulk, and Benedict Wong as Wong.

It will air on Disney+ Hotstar from August 18 in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

  • Ruffalo, Laurie join cast of World War II drama ‘All the Light We Cannot See’

    By IANS

Mark Ruffalo and Hugh Laurie have joined the cast of Netflix’s ‘All the Light We Cannot See’ limited series based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name by Anthony Doerr.

Ruffalo and Laurie, according to ‘Variety’, will star in the bestselling novel’s four-part TV adaptation alongside newcomer Aria Mia Loberti, a visually impaired actress who was previously announced as playing the leading role of Marie-Laure, the blind teenager at the heart of the story.

In ‘All the Light We Cannot See’, Marie-Laure’s path collides with Werner, a German soldier, as they both try to survive the devastation of World War II in occupied France.

Ruffalo will play Marie-Laure’s father, Daniel LeBlanc, the principal locksmith at the Museum of Natural History in Paris. Caring and clever, he’s determined to give his blind daughter as much independence as he can while also protecting her — and the secret gem they carry — from Nazi occupation.

Laurie has been cast as Etienne LeBlanc, an eccentric and reclusive World War I hero suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). A nervous shut-in, LeBlanc records clandestine radio broadcasts as part of the French Resistance.

The Netflix series is written by Steven Knight (‘Peaky Blinders’) and directed by Shawn Levy (‘Stranger Things’, ‘Free Guy’ and ‘Shadow and Bone’). The novel on which the series is based was on the ‘New York Times’ Bestseller list for 200 weeks.

  • Yorgos Lanthimos’ next ‘Poor Things’ adds Mark Ruffalo

    By Express News Service
Actor Mark Ruffalo is reportedly set to share screen space alongside Emma Stone in filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things. The news of the Dark Waters-actor’s casting comes a month after it was reported that actor and comedian Ramy Youssef was in talks to join the film’s star cast.

However, it remains unclear whether Ruffalo has replaced Youssef or will be playing a different character. An adaptation of Scottish writer Alasdair Gray’s novel of the same name, Poor Things stars Emma Stone in the lead role, marking her second collaboration with Lanthimos after

The Favourite. In April, reports also claimed that the producers of the film were holding negotiations with Academy Award-winning actor Willem Dafoe for an unspecified role, but there has been significant development on the front ever since.

Ruffalo, who recently won a Golden Globe for his performance in the limited series I Know This Much Is True will be reprising his role as Bruce Banner from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming series She-Hulk. Poor Things is being produced by Searchlight, Fruit Tree, Element Pictures, and Film4.

    By IANS
LOS ANGELES: Actor Ryan Reynolds has shared a few pictures along with actor Mark Ruffalo from the sets of The Adam Project but it is the funny caption that catches the eye.

On Instagram, Ryan posted three pictures from the sets of The Adam Project, a science fiction film directed by Shawn Levy. For the caption, Reynolds gave a hilarious reference about superhero Hulk, played by Ruffalo in the popular “Avengers” franchise.

“I have a friend from work too. But no matter how angry I make him, he stays the same size. @markruffalo #TheAdamProject,” Reynolds captioned the image.

The character Hulk turns into a giant green-skinned creature whenever emotionally provoked or stressed.

“The Adam Project” also stars Catherine Keener, Alex Mallari Jr and Jennifer Garner and Zoe Saldana.

The sci-fi film shows Reynolds’ character going back in time and uniting with his 13-year-old self so that he can find his physicist father, played by Ruffalo. Keener will play the villain.

  • ‘Inexcusable act of carnage, chaos’: Hollywood and Bollywood react sharply to US Capitol attack

    By PTI
LOS ANGELES/ MUMBAI: Several cinema and music personalities, including Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Cardi B, Richa Chadha, and Vir Das, have condemned the attack on the Capitol Hill in the US by thousands of supporters of President Donald Trump who clashed with police, calling it an act of “terror” and assault on democracy.

The violent attack resulted in at least four deaths and interrupting a constitutional process to affirm President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the election.

The police, outnumbered by the maskless protesters, had a tough time in managing the mob, as hundreds of protesters breached security and entered the Capitol building on Wednesday, where members of the Congress were going through the process of counting and certifying the Electoral College votes.

Many pointed out the difference in police response to the rioters at the Capitol building and protesters for the Black Lives Matter movement. “Imagine if this was our side. There would be rivers of our blood in the streets and not a single one of us would be armed. This has been allowed. #CoupAttempt,” wrote Ruffalo.

“Just think of the carnage had they not been white. So many people enabled this,” said Evans. Oscar-winning director Matthew A Cherry said they would have “dropped a whole bomb on the capitol if this was us”.

The irony is pretty funny………weren’t people just wild animals in the summer for demanding justice and now?……Let me just watch.

Cardi B found the irony “funny” and the rapper asked, “Weren’t people just wild animals in the summer for demanding justice – and now?”

Democracy is fragile, everywhere…needs to be saved from “leaders” everywhere.

Chadha said it was a “dark day” for America, describing the country an “erstwhile spreader of offshore democracy”. “Democracy is fragile, everywhere…needs to be saved from ‘leaders’ everywhere,” she tweeted.

    — Swara Bhasker (@ReallySwara) January 6, 2021

Sharing pictures of the attack on Twitter, actor Swara Bhasker said this is “what mob anarchy looks like”. Both the House and Senate and the entire Capitol were placed under a lockdown. Vice President Mike Pence and lawmakers were evacuated to safe locations.

Four people died on Wednesday, including one woman who was shot by a police officer, amid protests and rioting on Capitol Hill that resulted in dozens of demonstrators being arrested, police said.

If this were a movie, I’d also say there is NO WAY a significant amount of people are gonna fall for this tan sprayed, combed over, blustering charlatan. But I have underestimated the power of a large media site (FOX “NEWS”) pumping propaganda 24/7. But–
    — Mangold (@mang0ld) March 21, 2020

“Ford vs Ferrari” director James Mangold called for a full boycott of the Fox News appealing for all “fellow content makers” to cancel any appearances on the network and use their power to keep ads for their projects off the channel as well.

“Frozen” star Josh Gad questioned the police’s credibility over the violent assault on the landmark building. “This is either a dereliction of duty by the Capitol Police or a complicit desire to not plan for the known threat of chaos today. Either way, this is inexcusable. If you can be prepared for imaginary ANTIFA protesters, you had no business not prepping for these actual terrorists,” Gad said.

“The Office” star Rainn Wilson said the Capitol is “under attack by terrorists”.

Legendary musician Stevie Wonder was among several Hollywood names who demanded Trump’s impeachment and said he was “heartbroken and astounded” with the turn of events. Calling the outgoing POTUS a “narcissistic and dangerous president”, Wonder said Trump is no longer able to serve as president because “he can’t accept defeat”.

Scores of celebrities such as Dylan O’Brien, Chris Hayes, Dylan Minnette, and Halsey also called for his impeachment.

Trump, who earlier encouraged his supporters to head to the Capitol, urged them to abide by the law and go back home after the violent clash. “This was a fraudulent election, but we can’t play into the hands of these people. We have to have peace. So go home,” Trump said in a video message posted on Twitter.

Director James Gunn said that Trump “had to wait until AFTER his followers had pushed past police and entered the Capitol building and there was a face off with guns, but, you know, okay”.

Actor-comic Sacha Baron Cohen, a staunch critic of Facebook, urged Mark Zuckerberg and the heads of Twitter, YouTube and Google to ban Trump. “Is that finally enough for you to act?! It’s time to ban Donald Trump from your platforms once and for all!” he tweeted.

Singer Selena Gomez also slammed social media platforms for “failing” the American people. “I hope you’re going to fix things going forward,” she added. “The President just said ‘we love you’ to the armed mob storming The Capitol, replacing the American flag with a makeshift Trump flag,” ‘Top Chef’ host Padma Lakshmi tweeted.

The microblogging site later removed the video and some tweets in which Trump appeared to defend the actions of his supporters. In an unprecedented move, Twitter and Facebook have suspended Trump’s accounts after he continued to push conspiracy theories about the November 3 election.

Twitter suspended Trump’s account for 12 hours and also blocked three of his tweets including a video of his address to his supporters. Facebook said it would be blocking the president’s account from posting for 24 hours due to two policy violations.

The protesters dispersed following the enforcement of curfew in the national capital. Mayor Bowser announced the curfew to prevent the situation from escalating. Officials said the Capitol was secured, putting an end to nearly four-hour violent occupation by Trump supporters.

Heavily armed police personnel were deployed to disperse the crowd.
