  • Sisodia alleges ‘secret’ friendship between Modi, Amarinder ahead of Punjab polls

    By PTI
NEW DELHI: AAP leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday alleged a “solid” friendship between Prime Minister Narenda Modi and Punjab CM Amarinder Singh ahead of the Punjab elections, after the state was ranked number one in the Performance Grading Index (PGI) 2019-20 by the Centre in terms of school education.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is in opposition in the Congress-governed Punjab where Assembly polls are slated for early next year.

Modi’s BJP is another opposition party in the state.

“This report claims that government schools in Punjab have emerged to be the best, while pointing that government schools in Delhi are not up to the mark. This report is just another way to show the blessings Modiji has showered on Captain Amarinder Singh, extending a hand of friendship similar to the previous election.”

“Strangely enough, this report has been released at a time when people have been raising questions regarding the performance and inadequacies of the Punjab government in education,” Sisodia said during an online briefing.

The AAP leader alleged that the report points towards the “solid friendship” between the PM and the Punjab chief minister, in lieu of the upcoming Punjab polls.

Crediting the Punjab government with the best government schools in the country at a time when the state has seen the closure of more than 800 schools, and several schools have been found to be functioning as alcohol factories is a farce, Sisodia said.

“It is crystal clear that Captain Amarinder Singh has the blessings of Modiji and central government for the upcoming elections and we can consider this report as a gift to Captain Singh,” he added.

The AAP leader claimed that quality education and learning have become a “joke” in Punjab government schools.

Alleging that the report has been released to hide the “inadequacies” in quality education of Punjab, he claimed many government school students have had to suffer due to “gross negligence” of the state government.

“In the last three to four years, almost 800 government schools have shut down in Punjab, and have been given to NGOs or other institutions to function. Many children had to bear the brunt and parents had to transfer their children to private schools.”

“In a few days, Modiji will release another report claiming that Punjab government’s hospitals are the best in the country. This is just a collaborative tactic for the upcoming elections; it is a strategy of the state government to hide behind the garb of false reports and cover up for their negligence,” he said.

Accusing the Punjab chief minister of making a “joke” out of the whole education system in the state, he said the report has been released to “ridicule” the system further.

“Modiji has released this report to hide his (Singh’s) inadequacies and bless him for the upcoming elections. Following the release of this report, all that the Punjab government has done is release advertisements and hide behind this farce to cover up its inadequacies,” he said.

The ruling AAP dispensation led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has voiced concern over safety of children while citing opinion of experts that children may be affected in a possible third wave of COVID-19.

Sharing a newspaper report, Sisodia tweeted, “The world has started working on vaccine for children under age 12. Centre Govt should proactively do the needful to procure as many vaccines as possible to keep our children safe.”

Currently, people aged 18 years and above are being vaccinated in India.

The screening of children in the age group of 2-18 for trial of Covaxin vaccine has started started at the AIIMS Patna and New Delhi to see if the vaccine is suitable for them.

  • Heinous crime by Centre to export vaccines when people dying in our own country: Sisodia

He said the Centre should now ensure that the vaccines manufactured in the country are provided to the states that are facing a shortage.

    By PTI
PANAJI: The Aam Aadmi Party will not ally with any other outfit for the 2022 Goa Assembly polls and will contest all 40 seats on its own strength, the party’s senior leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Monday.

He said his party was the alternative to the BJP in Goa at a time when the opposition in the state was weak and was doing “what the BJP wants them to do”.

During the day, he paid tribute to former chief ministers Dayanand Bandodkar and Manohar Parrikar, and asked all those who want to see corruption-free politics to join AAP.

  • AAP can fulfil dream of late CM Manohar Parrikar for Goa, says Manish Sisodia

    By PTI
PANAJI: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia Sunday said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) can fulfil the dream of former Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar for the development of the coastal state.

Addressing AAP workers in Panaji via a video link, Sisodia said, “the current government has buried the vision of development that was nurtured by Manohar Parrikar for Goa after his death”.

He alleged that those members of the BJP who believed in Parrikar’s ideology are being “insulted and sidelined” in that party.

“I am appealing to all the BJP workers who were with Parrikar to join us and we will fulfil his dream. We (AAP) have the power to fulfil the dream of Parrikar. The vision of Parrikar need to be realised,” Sisodia said.

He said the people of Goa are upset with the ruling BJP as well as the opposition Congress over their “corrupt politics”, and are looking at the AAP as the able alternative.

He said the AAP is seeing a steady rise in its vote share across all the 40 constituencies in Goa.

“We bagged 15 per cent votes during Zilla Panchayat elections held recently,” he said.

Sisodia said members of some other political parties have also pinned their hopes on the AAP.

Targetting the BJP, Sisodia said irrespective of outcome of elections, it is the BJP that invariably forms govermnet in Goa.

“Where does this money to buy MLAs come from? It is the same money, if spent honestly, would have ensured completion of many projects and made it possible to provide electricity at subsidised rates in Goa,” he said expressing hope that the party will win the 2022 Assembly elections in Goa.

  • Centre should accept protesting farmers’ demands: Sisodia

The AAP leader also alleged that the ruling BJP has brought these laws for the benefit of some corporates by ignoring the interests of farmers.

  • ‘AAP will take legal action against BJP’: Manish Sisodia over doctored video of Kejriwal

    By Express News Service
NEW DELHI: AAP leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Sunday said that his party will take legal action against the BJP for allegedly sharing a doctored video of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on social media recently.

A BJP spokesperson had tweeted a video claiming that Kejriwal has supported the three contentious farm laws.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Sisodia said, “The BJP knows that Kejriwal is the only leader with credibility and hence they have used his doctored interview to create a false impression among the people.”

“This doctored video was created by selectively editing a long interview of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and placing fake bytes in some places. The Aam Aadmi Party will not allow such machinations by the BJP and will take legal action against them,” he said.

Sisodia claimed that since the BJP has ‘failed in all its machinations’ against the farmers, they plotted a new scheme riding on Kejriwal’’s popularity.

“We pity the BJP’s tactics who despite having their government at the Centre and in many states, have lost people’s trust and hence have to use Arvind Kejriwal’s doctored video to save the farm laws,” the deputy CM said.

Sisodia said when BJP couldn’t explain the farm laws to the farmers, it started branding them traitors and Khalistani.

Then BJP conducted a sponsored protest at the Red Fort and disrespected the national flag. Now, Indian public has understood BJP’s ill-intentions and does not believe in their conspiracies.

“BJP sent its goons to Singhu border where they disrespected the Sikh community by throwing their turbans and attacked the protesting farmers. They tried to portray it as an attack by the locals, but thankfully Indian public saw through this and has understood BJP’s tactics,” Sisodia said.

  • Ready for debate, says AAP’s Manish Sisodia in Doon

    Express News Service
DEHRADUN: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday said that the BJP is running a ‘sting model’ government while Delhi is progressing under ‘Kejriwal Model’. “While we have worked to improve health, education, power and water supply and generate jobs in Delhi, the BJP government in Uttarakhand remains in neck deep corruption and  stings,” said Sisodia.

The chair kept at the dais at the IRDT auditorium for Kaushik remained empty even as Sisodia attacked the state government for allowing corruption to flourish right under its nose. “If it had really done something for development, the minister would have come for the debate. He has not shown up because they have not done anything. Corruption is all that has happened in the state in the nearly four years of their rule,” Sisodia alleged.

The Aam Admi Party leader also added that after Kaushik had accepted the debate challenge, he was expecting a ‘healthy debate’ which is a good sign for a democracy as leaders from two different governments would come face to face before the public and debate openly.

Sisodia had earlier challenged Kaushik to list even five works done for welfare of Uttarakhand state and people and challenged him for debate in Dehradun. Kaushik on Sunday had responded in a letter calling him a ‘tourist politician’, adding that politics is serious issue and not some ‘theater show’.

Addressing the party workers, Sisodia asked the workers to prepare for the 2022 assembly polls. “The electoral contest in year 2022 is going to be BJP vs AAP. It is only the AAP which can fulfil the dreams of Uttarakhand,” added Sisodia.

He further invited Kaushik to Delhi on January 6 for the debate adding that in Delhi he will be able to see AAP government’s work in education, health, power, water, women security and others areas. Responding to Sisodia, BJP state vice-president Devendra Bhasin, “AAP leaders are not serious and we are always ready for any kind of debate.”

  • Uttarakhand cabinet minister responds to ‘debate challenge’ of Manish Sisodia

    Express News Service
DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand cabinet minister Madan Kaushik on Sunday wrote an open letter to Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia responding to his debate challenge on works done by the Uttarakhand state government since March 2017.

Kaushik, in a four-page letter written in Hindi, alleged that Aam Admi Party and its leaders are just ‘Seller of Hopes’. Calling Sisodia, a ‘Tourist Politician’, he added that politics is a serious issue and not some ‘Theater Show’.

“Politics is a serious issue and not some theater show. I want you to remember that Uttarakhand is a land of serious movements. Every person in Uttarakhand is aware of development-centric politics and its serious facets, ” wrote Uttarakhand urban development minister in the letter.

Calling AAP leaders escapist he further added in the letter that AAP leaders keep hopping from Delhi to Punjab and Uttar Pradesh and now they are coming to Uttarakhand.

Launching a scathing attack, Kaushik wrote that Covid-19 got out of control due to the carelessness of the AAP government and only after Union home minister Amit Shah intervened and came to the rescue, the situation could be normalized.

He also wrote that promises of opening 400 libraries, regular power and water have all fallen apart along with much-hyped ‘Mohalla Clinics’ most of which have closed now.

“I have no qualms in saying that you have a deeply ingrained lust for power. You cheated the people of Delhi for this. Now, you are trying to do the same in Uttarakhand but your attempts are bound to fail. The condition of lakhs of people living in the slums of Delhi is a well-known fact. You should learn something from Uttarakhand on this,” said Kaushik in the letter.

Sisodia who had challenged the minister for an open debate schedule Jan 4, 2021, in Dehradun is scheduled to reach Dehradun on Monday.

Sisodia on Saturday tweeted, “I would be in Dehradun on January 4 and in Delhi on January 6 to showcase the work done by AAP government.”

Earlier, Kaushik accepting the challenge had replied that he will go to Delhi to answer this.

Commenting on the issue, SS Kaler, state president of AAP said, “The BJP is lying and it always does. The party and its leaders are not ready to talk about what they have done because they have done nothing. Earlier they said they will list 100 good works and now they are not able to list even five.”
