    Explain that earlier in the cabinet meeting, the proposal to set up a directorate for conducting religious works under the chairmanship of CM Yogi has been approved. Now the government is preparing to bring an ordinance for registration and regulation of religious places.

  • Atal Tunnel to remain closed for one hour today for maintenance work

    Lahaul Spiti Police said that the Atal tunnel in Rohtang will be closed from 11 am to 12 noon today for maintenance work.

    The South Portal (SP) of the Atal Tunnel is located at a distance of 25 km from Manali at an altitude of 3,060 meters, while the North Portal (NP) of the tunnel is located at an altitude near Tissing, Sissu, a village in the Lahaul Valley. At a distance of 3,071 meters.

    The 9.02-km-long tunnel connects Manali, the world’s longest highway tunnel, to the Lahaul-Spiti valley throughout the year. Earlier, due to heavy snowfall every year the valley was cut for about six months. The road between Surang Manali and Leh reduces the distance to 46 kilometers and the time is about four to five hours.
