  • Mile tremor in Maharashtra’s Palghar; no casualty

    PALGHAR: A tremor of 3.9 magnitude was recorded in Maharashtra’s Palghar district on Sunday morning, an official said.

    There was no report of any casualty or property damage so far, district disaster cell chief Vivekanand Kadam said.

    The tremor was felt at 5.35 am, he said.

    The district has experienced frequent tremors since November 2018, specially in Dundalwadi village of Talasari taluka and also in parts of Dahanu taluka.

    The seismic activity in the district on Sunday was recorded after a couple of months.

  • 4.3 magnitude earthquake hits Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli

    Gadchiroli: An earthquake of 4.3 magnitude was recorded in Sironcha taluka of Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district on Sunday, October 31, 2021, officials said.

    No damage to property or loss of life was reported due to it, a district official said.

    “The earthquake measured 4.3 on the Richter scale. It was recorded at 6.48 pm,” he said.

    A statement from the Gadchiroli district collectorate quoting the National Centre for Seismology said the earthquake occurred at the depth of 77 kms. It was recorded at Jafrabad Chak village near Pranhita river close to Telangana border.

  • Maharashtra: Tremor in Kolhapur; no casualty

    PUNE: A tremor of 3.9 magnitude was experienced in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur district, but there was no report of any casualty or property loss so far, officials said on Sunday.

    The seismic activity was recorded at 11.49 pm on Saturday at a depth of 38 km near Kale village, 19 km west of Kolhapur, as per the National Centre for Seismology’s website.

    There was no report of any casualty or damage to property, officials from the district disaster management cell said.

    Kolhapur is located over 200 km from Pune and 375 km from the state capital Mumbai.

  • Maharashtra: 4.4 magnitude earthquake hits Yavatmal, nearby areas

    NANDED: An earthquake of 4.4 magnitude hit Maharashtra’s Yavatmal district and neighbouring areas on Sunday, officials said.

    There was no report of any casualty or damage to property, they said.

    The earthquake was experienced at 8.33 am, with its epicentre at Sadhunagar in Yavatmal district, Dr Vipin Itankar, the collector of neighbouring Nanded district, told PTI while quoting data of the National Centre for Seismology.

    He said shocks were also felt in Nanded, located about 200 km from Yavatmal and 140 km from Latur.

    The Nanded collectorate was in touch with officials of neighbouring districts, the official said in a release, and asked people not to panic.

    Latur witnessed a massive earthquake in September 1993, killing around 10,000 people and injuring several others.
