Janjgir, J.N.N. Due to the continuous rains in Chhattisgarh for the past one week, the state’s rivers and streams are in spate and Mahanadi, the largest river here, has taken the form of a raud. Due to the floods in the Mahanadi, the historic city of Shivrinarayan, a historic city associated with the Ramayana period in Janjgir district, has been completely turned into an island. Here the flood waters of Mahanadi have entered and only water is visible everywhere.

According to Naiduniya, an associate publication of Dainik Jagran, the city remained flooded by about four feet even after the rains stopped on Saturday. The upper part of the city is also completely waterlogged. Relief and rescue work is being done by the district administration here. People are moving to other areas with the necessary goods and cattle to protect themselves from the floods.

Please tell that the flood water has entered the houses of about half a dozen wards of Shivrinarayan. The fair grounds here and the surrounding mohallas are completely waterlogged. Meanwhile, the staff of the Nagar Panchayat, police and flood disaster management are engaged in relief and rescue operations. People affected by the flood are being evacuated to safer places.

Due to the floods, many families living on the river banks have to leave their homes and take shelter in the upland area. Please tell that for the last three days, there has been heavy rainfall in Raipur and Bilaspur divisions. Due to this, the water level of the state’s largest Mahanadi and all its tributaries has reached above the danger mark. Bilaspur has received more than 1145 mm of rain so far this season and the rains are still continuing.
