  • Three siblings among four killed as truck rams into roadside house in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh

    DAMOH: Two teenage brothers, their minor sister and one more person were killed after a truck rammed into a roadside house in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh, police said on Saturday.

    Damoh SP DR Teniwar said that the incident occurred at Aajani Taparia village on Batiyagarh-Hatta Road around 11 pm on Friday when the family members were sleeping in their roadside mud (kutcha) house.

    “Following the mishap, the injured were rushed to a hospital, where Akash Ahirwar (18), his 14-year-old brother Omkar and 16-year-old sister Manisha died, while their parents are undergoing treatment at the district hospital,” he said.

    Another man, identified as Purushottam Sahu, who was travelling in the truck after taking a lift, also died in the accident, he said. The driver of the truck fled from the spot after the accident and a search has been launched for him, the SP added.

  • Seven killed, 13 injured in bus-dumper collision in Madhya Pradesh

    BHIND: Seven persons were killed and 13 others injured after an Uttar Pradesh-bound bus collided with a dumper truck near Gohad town in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh on Friday, a police official said.

    The accident took place around 8 am when the Itawa-bound bus from Gwalior collided head on with the dumper, Additional SP Kamlesh Kharpuse said.

    The mishap occurred on the national highway near Hargovindpura under the Gohad police station limits, he said.

    The injured persons have been shifted to Gwalior district hospital for treatment, he added.

  • Four killed, 20 hurt as vehicle falls into gorge in Madhya Pradesh’s Barwani district

    BARWANI: Four persons, including two minors, were killed and 20 others injured when a pickup vehicle carrying them fell into a gorge in Madhya Pradesh’s Barwani district, police said.

    The accident occurred around noon on a mountainous road when a group of devotees was going to Nagalwadi temple located on a hill, about 65km from the district headquarters, Yashwant Badole, Nagalwadi police station in-charge, told PTI.

    The injured and deceased are residents of Jamaniya and Talwai villages of neighbouring Dhar district, he said.

    Badole said the vehicle, carrying around 30 people, reversed and rolled down into the gorge after the driver lost control.

    One person died on the spot, while three others succumbed to their injuries in a hospital in Barwani, he said.

    The deceased included a 16-year-old girl and a boy aged 12.

    A 20-year-old man and a woman aged 35 were the other two who died in the accident, the police officer said.

    Police have registered a case against the vehicle driver, who is yet to be arrested, Badole said.

  • Bus overturns in Madhya Pradesh; 13 injured, three of them critical

    VIDISHA: At least 13 people were injured, including three critically, when a sleeper coach bus overturned on the Bhopal-Sagar highway near Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha city on Sunday morning, police said.

    The accident took place at around 5.40 am near Hirnai village on the highway, located about 50 km from the state capital Bhopal, Civil Lines police station in-charge Kamlesh Soni told PTI.

    The bus, carrying 22 passengers, was heading towards Sagar from Bhopal, he said.

    Thirteen passengers were injured and the condition of three of them was critical, the official said.

    The three critically injured persons were referred to Bhopal for treatment, he said.

    A case was registered in connection with the incident, he added.

  • Bus falls into canal in Madhya Pradesh, several passengers missing; rescue on

    SIDHI (MP): Many passengers are feared drowned after a bus fell off a bridge into a canal near Patna village in Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district on Tuesday morning, police and eye witnesses said.

    District superintendent of police Pankaj Kumawat said rescue operation was underway.

    Sources said that at least 50 passengers were travelling in the bus at the time of the incident which occurred around 8:30 AM.

    According to eye witnesses, the bus has sank in the canal and not visible now.

    It is feared that the bus was swept away in the water current.

    At least seven persons swam to the banks of the canal while others are missing, they said.
