  • LeT militant arrested in Jammu and Kashmir

    SRINAGAR: Security forces on Sunday arrested a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

    He was spotted during a naka checking near Shuhama Nagbal.

    He tried to flee after seeing the security forces team, but his attempt was foiled and he was apprehended tactfully, a police spokesman said.

    He identified the arrested as Mohammad Altaf Wani, a resident of Keegam in Shopian.

    Incriminating material was recovered from his possession, the spokesman said, adding that he was a militant of the LeT.

    A case has been registered and investigation taken up, the spokesman said.

  • LeT militant arrested in Bandipora in Jammu and Kashmir

    SRINAGAR: Security forces on Friday arrested a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)militant from Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir, a police spokesperson said.

    On specific input regarding movement of terrorists in Hajin town, a joint check point was established by police, army and the CRPF in Gundjahangeer area of Hajin, the spokesperson said.

    During checking, one person behaving in a very suspicious manner was apprehended.

    “He has been identified as Muzammil Sheikh alias Abu Maviya, a resident of Chandergeer, Hajin. During his personal search, incriminating material, arms and ammunition including one Chinese pistol along with live rounds, were recovered from his possession,” the spokesperson said.

    The arrested person had joined the proscribed LeT recently and was tasked with carrying out subversive activities in and around Hajin town, he added.

  • Two LeT militant associates arrested in Jammu and Kashmir

    SRINAGAR: Security forces arrested two militant associates of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and recovered incriminating materials from their possession in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Wednesday.

    Acting on specific inputs, security forces arrested the LeT militant associates in a joint operation at Laloo Sheshgari Hyderpora, a police spokesman said.

    He identified them as Aquib Ahmad Wani, a resident of Laloo Sheshgari Hyderpora, and Aadil Manzoor Mir, a resident of Nadirgund Humhama.

    During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that both of them were providing shelter, logistics and other material support to active LeT militants in the Hyderpora and Humhama areas of Budgam district in central Kashmir, he said.

    They were also found to have been in touch with Pakistan-based terror commanders through various social media platforms, the spokesman added.

    Incriminating materials of LeT have been recovered from their possession, the spokesman said, adding a case has been registered and further investigation initiated.

  • Two militant associates of LeT arrested in Jammu and Kashmir

    SRINAGAR: Security forces have arrested two militant associates of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit and recovered incriminating materials from their possession in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Saturday.

    Acting on specific inputs, security forces established a checkpoint near Papachan-Bandipora Bridge and apprehended two militant associates linked with the proscribed outfit LeT on Friday, a police official said.

    He identified them as Abid Waza and Bashir Ahmad Gojer, both residents of Bandipora in north Kashmir.

    The official said as per the police records, they were involved in providing shelter, logistics and other support to the active militants in the area.

    They were tasked by their handlers to carry out a grenade attack on security forces in Bandipora, he said.

    Incriminating materials, including two live hand grenades were recovered from their possession and all the recovered material was taken into case records for further investigation, the official said.
