In a stark revelation, Ola Electric disclosed its third-quarter FY26 earnings, highlighting a severe downturn. Revenue from operations nosedived 55% to ₹470 crore for the quarter ended December, compared to ₹1,045 crore a year ago. Overall revenue fell even more precipitously by 57% to ₹504 crore.

Persistent losses continue to plague the EV maker, with a ₹487 crore deficit in Q3, up from ₹418 crore in Q2 but down slightly from last year’s ₹564 crore. On a brighter note, total expenses halved to ₹741 crore, driven by slashing material costs by 74% to ₹223 crore – a clear signal of reduced output volumes.

The market reacted swiftly, with shares dipping to a 52-week low of ₹30.41 before closing at ₹30.9, down 0.26%. Over the last year, the stock has lost over half its value, eroding 51.9%, and is down 17.59% since January. Ola’s recent moves include trimming 5% of staff to forge a leaner organization focused on long-term viability.

Leadership insists on ramping up service efficiency, boasting same-day resolution for 80%+ of requests via HyperService. As Ola navigates production cuts, layoffs, and investor skepticism, the road ahead demands bold strategies to reclaim momentum in the burgeoning electric two-wheeler sector.

The White House has cautioned that significant federal job losses are possible as the US government shutdown persists, escalating political tensions. The shutdown, triggered by a failure to meet the September 1 funding deadline, has left several agencies without operating budgets, disrupting services. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt indicated that the administration is preparing for potential layoffs, estimating that thousands of federal employees could be affected. She attributed the crisis to Democratic obstructionism, particularly disagreements over healthcare benefits for undocumented immigrants. President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with OMB Director Russell Vought to discuss agency-specific budget cuts, considering whether reductions should be temporary or permanent. Trump has characterized the situation as an opportunity to ‘Make America Great Again’.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt issued a warning that thousands of federal employees could lose their jobs if the government shutdown persists. She indicated this situation could escalate political tensions in Washington. Leavitt further alleged that Democrats are exploiting the crisis for political gain.

Leavitt stated that the nation is now in the third day of a shutdown orchestrated by Democrats. She asserted that Democrats are holding the American people hostage by demanding free healthcare for illegal immigrants.

She pointed out that Republicans fully support passing a non-partisan, clean funding bill, which is the same bill that Democrats approved to reopen the federal government in March. However, the same Senate Democrats are now voting against this bill. Leavitt expressed an understanding that Democrats will likely change their stance soon and expressed hope that they will do so.

Leavitt highlighted the severe personal impacts of the ongoing government shutdown on millions of Americans. She noted that the 1.3 million men and women of the US military, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Space Force, who serve with honor and risk their lives to protect everyone, are not receiving their paychecks. Military families are already requesting food assistance due to the financial strain caused by the Democratic shutdown.

President Trump would end the reign of terror of the radical leftists in Portland. If Democrats do the right thing, this shutdown could end. But if it continues, layoffs will be an unfortunate consequence. Democrats brought the White House and the President to this situation by voting to shut down the government.

The President is deeply concerned about all the atrocities that have occurred in the Middle East in recent years. It is deeply unfortunate that he inherited this disarray from the Biden administration. During President Trump’s first term, the Middle East was on the path to peace and prosperity. Historic Abraham Accords were signed.

Israel was on the path to normalization with Arab and Gulf countries, and we hope this continues. However, the President has made it clear to Hamas that they must accept an acceptable and detailed proposal, or the consequences will be severe. He gave them a deadline of 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Leavitt believes that the entire world should hear the words of the President of the United States loudly and clearly. Hamas has the opportunity to accept this plan and move forward peacefully and prosperously in the region. If they fail to do so, the consequences will be very unfortunate.

Following Donald Trump’s announcement to increase H-1B fees, the White House has clarified the reasons behind its concerns regarding the visa program. The White House stated that several American companies have laid off American tech employees and replaced them with foreign workers. Trump has repeatedly emphasized that Americans should have priority regarding American resources and jobs. A White House statement revealed that one company was granted 5,189 H-1B approvals while it laid off 16,000 American employees. Another company received 1,698 approvals but cut 2,400 jobs in Oregon.

The White House statement further disclosed that a third company received 25,075 H-1B visa permissions and reduced its American workforce by 27,000 since 2022. Additionally, another company, despite obtaining 1,137 H-1B visa permissions for fiscal year 2025, cut 1,000 American jobs in February. American IT employees were allegedly forced to train foreign workers in an illegal manner.

Trump has been promoting the ‘America First’ policy since the election campaign. The rise in H-1B visa fees is believed to increase the cost for American companies to bring in professionals from abroad, prompting them to give opportunities to American workers, thereby prioritizing American job offers.

Elon Musk has issued a demanding ultimatum to employees at his AI company, xAI. Musk has requested that employees submit a report detailing their accomplishments over the past four weeks and their objectives for the upcoming month. They have been given a strict 48-hour deadline to comply. This follows a pattern of similar ultimatums issued by Musk in the past, which have been followed by layoffs, including the recent reduction of hundreds of employees from the data encoding team.

Musk’s current directive requires employees to justify their continued employment by providing a concise one-page report. This document must outline their progress and future plans. This approach mirrors practices observed at his other ventures, such as Tesla and SpaceX, where employee productivity is regularly assessed. This demand is part of an ongoing performance review process that has become standard practice across his companies. The ultimatum arrives amid internal instability at the company, with layoffs having occurred and new hires also being made.

The gaming industry is reeling from the impact of the ban on real money games following the passage of the Online Gaming Bill. The effects of the ban are expected to be felt soon, as sources indicate that the popular gaming app Mobile Premier League (MPL) may soon lay off a significant number of employees. According to a company insider familiar with the company’s plans, the company may let go of 60% of its workforce following the new laws passed for the online gaming industry.

MPL is strengthening its operations in the US market, focusing on free-to-play games, according to the Economic Times. A source within the company stated that approximately 300 of the 500 Indian employees working in marketing, operations, finance, engineering, and legal teams will be laid off.

An internal email viewed by Reuters, sent to the staff, revealed that MPL CEO Sai Srinivas wrote, “With a heavy heart, we have decided to make significant cuts to our Indian team.” The email did not specify the number of layoffs.

He stated that they are committed to providing all possible assistance to those affected. India accounts for 50% of M League’s revenue, and this change means that they will not be able to earn any revenue from India in the future.

Why Games Like MPL-Dream 11 Became Popular

The government has banned online real money games, citing financial losses among young people as a reason. This decision by the government has led to the closure of online gaming apps. MPL and Dream11 have become quite popular among people in recent years because they offer winners the opportunity to win financial prizes. The online gaming industry claims that games depend on skills and are therefore not gambling.

Dream Sports, the parent company of Dream11, is reportedly set to discontinue its Real Money Gaming (RMG) operations due to the recently passed Online Gaming Bill 2025 in India. This significant shift was communicated to employees during an internal town hall meeting on August 20, just before the bill’s approval by the Rajya Sabha. The RMG segment, which currently generates approximately 67% of Dream Sports’ annual revenue, will be eliminated. The company plans to redirect its focus towards non-real-money ventures such as Sportz Drip and Fancode, while also increasing investments in platforms like Willow TV and Cricbuzz, as well as expanding into overseas markets. This transition could involve substantial job cuts and cost-cutting measures, given the large number of employees in the RMG division.

President Donald Trump’s administration is planning to eliminate approximately 300,000 government jobs this year, a move that is set to significantly reduce the federal workforce. This information was provided by Scott Cooper, the new director of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). The planned reduction represents a cut of about 12.5% in the federal workforce since January. Cooper indicated that 80% of the departures will be voluntary, while 20% will be the result of dismissals. This figure is nearly double the 154,000 employees reported by Reuters last month who took voluntary retirement packages.

Intel is discontinuing its automotive processor division, leading to significant layoffs within that segment. This strategic shift is part of a broader initiative to streamline operations and concentrate resources on core businesses, including client computing and data centers. The decision was communicated internally, signaling a complete wind-down of the automotive vertical. Intel has stated its commitment to fulfilling existing commitments in the automotive sector before fully exiting the market. While the exact number of affected employees remains undisclosed, the impact is expected to be substantial. Despite this pullback, Intel retains a majority stake in Mobileye, its self-driving technology subsidiary, which is currently unaffected by these changes. Furthermore, the company is implementing additional cost-cutting measures, including outsourcing marketing and potential layoffs in manufacturing, under the direction of the new CEO.
