  • OnePlus working on its smartwatch and on Wear OS with Google, confirms CEO

    A couple of months ago, OnePlus teased its attempt at doing a smartwatch back when it was still a fairly new entity in the smartphone market. While the post hinted at a new OnePlus Watch from the company, those claims were soon dismissed. However, in a fresh report, the company’s CEO has now clarified that it is still working on its smartwatch.     The CEO Pete Lau confirmed the above two developments to The Input in an interview, hinting that a OnePlus Watch could be on the cards for a possible launch in 2021. Lau shared no release date or specifications on the Watch, which again hints towards a launch that’s not happening anytime soon.     The specifications sheet of the upcoming Galaxy S21 Ultra comes from Roland Quandt of WinFuture. The same tipster is also responsible for the press renders of all the three handsets in the series – Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra.

    According to him, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra will feature a glass and metal sandwich design like any other premium smartphone. The glass used on it will be Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, which made its debut on the Galaxy Note20 Ultra.

  • Russia Launches 36 UK Telecom Satellites From Vostochny, Aims To Provide Fast Broadband

    On December 18, Russia launched a fleet of 36 satellite into the targeted orbit on a Soyuz launch vehicle from the Vostochny Cosmodrome. The historic launch at 12:26 GMT was a part of the UK government and Indian conglomerate Bharti Global’s operator OneWeb’s 648 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite programme which will provide fast, high-speed, low-latency global connectivity.  Friday’s launch brought the total in-orbit launch to 110 satellites. “Today’s launch is one of many steps we have taken to operationalize one of the world’s first LEO constellations which clearly demonstrates we are on our way to achieving our mission,” Founder and Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, Sunil Bharti Mittal said in a statement. 

    The satellite communications company streamed the lift-off live as the satellites detached from the rocket and dispensed within 3 hours 52 minutes in at least nine batches. The launch of the new batch was a contract signed between French company Ariane Space, Russia’s Roscosmos, NPO Lavochkina, and the Center for Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure Facilities

    Amazfit launched the GTR 2 in India yesterday, which comes in Sport and Classic Editions priced at INR12,999 ($175/€145) and INR13,499 ($185/€150), respectively.   • India Cancels All 70 Events Planned To Mark 70th Year Of China Ties

    Days after China “cancelled” plans to jointly launch commemorative stamps with India to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, India has cancelled all 70 such diplomatic events planned with its Eastern neighbour. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) has now decided to ramp up cultural relations with Taiwan, a bitter rival of China. 

    A number of events were planned on the 70th diplomatic anniversary of China and India’s relationship after Xi Jinping and PM Modi had met last year in Chennai but post-Galwan Valley clash, India has decided to cancel these events, Dinesh K Patnaik, DG ICCR told Republic Media Network. Many of these events were to be organised in China.

    China’s State Post Bureau has decided to cancel its plan to jointly launch commemorative stamps with India, state-run CGTN-TV reported on December 8, quoting a statement by the bureau without mentioning the date of the event. No reason was given for the decision, the report said.
