If you’re in the market for a new hatchback under Rs 10 Lakh, now might be a good time to pause. While immediate needs should be addressed, those who can wait a few months could have more options. Several new vehicles, including facelifts and hatchbacks, are slated to launch soon.

Maruti Suzuki plans to introduce a hybrid version of the Fronx. This could be an appealing alternative to the CNG versions of the Baleno, Fronx, and Swift. Hyundai is also planning new launches, including a compact crossover hybrid model, internally codenamed BC4i (Bayon). It will be powered by a new 1.2-liter Kappa engine, which will serve as a foundation for Hyundai’s hybrid portfolio in India. This engine aims to bridge the gap between the 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter turbo petrol engines.

Maruti Suzuki is also planning a new 5-seater SUV, possibly called the Escudo. Positioned between the Vitara Brezza and Grand Vitara, it will compete with the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. It’s designed for buyers wanting a more luxurious SUV than the Vitara Brezza at a lower price than the Grand Vitara. It may feature the existing 1.5cc, four-cylinder engine with hybrid enhancements.

Renault India is working on revamping its lineup. Currently selling the Kwid, Triber, and Kiger, the brand is set to introduce a new Duster and an EV hatchback. The Kwid EV has been spotted testing, and the new model resembles the Dacia Spring EV sold in global markets.

Renault is preparing to revitalize its Indian lineup, and a new electric vehicle (EV) hatchback, likely the Kwid EV, has been spotted undergoing testing. The Kwid EV, which might be based on the Dacia Spring EV sold internationally, was observed in Tamil Nadu. The vehicle, bearing temporary plates, suggests that Nissan and Renault are working on this project in the region. The Dacia Spring, if rebadged, could feature a 26.8 kWh battery pack, offering a range of approximately 220 km on a single charge. Alternatively, an Indianized version with localized components could be introduced for cost-effectiveness. Recent sightings reveal less camouflage, highlighting the rear lights and design elements like steel wheels and a rear wiper. The international Dacia Spring is available with varying electric motor options, including a 44 BHP base model and a 64 BHP higher-end variant. Charging times and range vary depending on the specific model. The possibility of an ICE variant also exists, considering the previous Kwid’s sales success in the hatchback segment.
