Get ready, Delhiites! The capital’s favorite floral extravaganza, NDMC’s Annual Tulip Festival-2026, officially opens tomorrow at Shanti Path Lawns. After a slight delay, this festival is poised to transform the urban landscape into a riot of colors with its stunning tulip displays.

A guided Tulip Walk will commence Monday morning from the lawns near Sudan Embassy in Chanakyapuri, showcasing an array of vividly colored tulips and complementary flowers. Horticulture experts have outdone themselves, and nature lovers are flocking in anticipation of this free, family-friendly event.

The postponement from February 17 stemmed from security protocols surrounding the India AI Impact Summit. In a recent budget speech, Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal shared grand visions: 5.53 lakh tulip bulbs dotting city parks, many sourced from domestic growers in Himachal’s Palampur under the ‘Make in India’ banner.

Innovations from last year continue to inspire, with NDMC potting and selling one lakh tulips at popular venues including Lodhi Garden and Talkatora Garden. This not only generated buzz but also promoted home gardening.

Sustainability remains at the core of NDMC’s strategy. Chahal highlighted the Miyawaki forest project in Lodhi Colony and impressive plantation stats: 3,500 trees, nearly 30 lakh shrubs, and hundreds of bamboos already in the ground. Future goals include thousands more trees and shrubs next year.

Bolstering eco-friendly practices, 10 decentralized STPs treat wastewater for irrigation, while expansions promise even greener initiatives. The festival isn’t just about flowers—it’s a testament to Delhi’s evolving commitment to a cleaner, self-sufficient future.

In a bold declaration, NDMC’s Kuljeet Singh Chahal outlined the transformative impact of the recent budget under the banner ‘Developed NDMC, Developed Delhi.’ His address painted a picture of a revitalized capital, backed by concrete fiscal commitments.

Infrastructure takes center stage with Rs. 500 crore earmarked for pothole-free roads and modernized public transport hubs. Chahal spotlighted the rollout of AI-driven traffic systems to cut congestion in high-traffic zones.

Social welfare shines through enhanced funding for senior citizen care and women’s safety initiatives. Schools and hospitals will see state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring no resident is left behind. ‘Our budget reflects the people’s aspirations,’ Chahal stated.

Sustainability efforts include a massive push for rainwater harvesting and zero-waste zones. Chahal detailed partnerships with tech firms for smart city integrations, from IoT sensors to app-based grievance redressal.

Financial prudence is evident in revenue enhancement strategies without hiking taxes. Local entrepreneurs benefit from incubation centers and market linkages. Chahal’s vision culminates in a cleaner, greener, and more efficient Delhi, ready for the future.

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) reported minimal waterlogging across Delhi, according to Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal. Chahal inspected drainage pumping on Africa Avenue road and highlighted the successful efforts in preventing water accumulation. He stated that the NDMC received zero complaints of waterlogging in areas under its jurisdiction and attributed this achievement to teamwork. Additionally, Chahal inspected the rainwater harvesting system in Bharti Nagar, an area previously prone to flooding, emphasizing its role in controlling waterlogging. Pumps have been deployed to remove stagnant water from low-lying areas and divert it to the Lodhi Road drain. The NDMC has implemented multiple strategies to address waterlogging issues in Bharti Nagar, which saw water entering homes in the past. Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also asserted that there was no waterlogging in the national capital despite heavy rainfall, citing the improvement at Minto Bridge as an example.
