Both individuals were adults, and local reports suggest a romantic relationship between them. Villagers discovered the bodies and immediately alerted the police. Upon receiving the information, the Urandabeda police, along with a team of the Tehsildar, promptly arrived at the scene. The bodies were taken down from the tree and transported to the Pharasgaon hospital for post-mortem examination.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident is a case of suicide stemming from a failed love affair. The couple is believed to have used a single saree to hang themselves from a branch of the tree. The police have initiated a thorough investigation to ascertain the precise causes of the suicide. The entire village is plunged into mourning following this devastating event, with the families of the deceased deeply affected.

This temple, situated in the scenic valleys of Bastar, is considered a remarkable center of religious faith. Maa Lingeshwari is enshrined here in the form of a Shivling. It is believed that the wishes of devotees who come to the temple to pray are fulfilled.

Every year, thousands of devotees arrive here, not only from Chhattisgarh but also from other states. Couples without children especially come to seek the blessings of the Mother for offspring. According to tradition, cucumbers are offered at the temple. Afterward, the priest cuts the cucumber into equal parts and gives it as a prasad to both the husband and wife. It is believed that by doing so, the wishes of the couple are fulfilled.

Priest Nandlal Diwan (village Aalor Jhatiban) of the Maa Lingeshwari Seva Samiti, announced in a press conference that the temple doors will be opened on the morning of September 3, following the previous tradition, and thousands of devotees will witness this auspicious occasion.

People eagerly await the Maa Lingeshwari fair throughout the year. Devotees start arriving a day in advance so that they can have the first opportunity to see the Mother.

The bodies were emitting a foul odor, suggesting they had been hanging for some time. According to local villagers, both bodies were suspended from the tree. Bijapur Kotwali Police Station in-charge Durgesh Sharma stated that the case appears to be related to a love affair. A video from a mobile phone has also been obtained by the police related to the case.

The TI further added that the bodies have been handed over to the families after the post-mortem. The girl was a minor and a resident of Jangala. The young man, Shankar Mandavi, was a resident of Turanggur in the Kondagaon police station area of Bastar. Bijapur police are investigating the case.

The deceased jawan has been identified as Dinesh Singh Chandel. He was a resident of Durg and served as a platoon commander at the CAF camp in Bayaanar. Chandel reportedly shot himself with his service rifle, succumbing to the gunshot wound immediately.

The sound of the gunshot triggered chaos within the camp. When personnel rushed to the scene, they found Platoon Commander Dinesh Singh Chandel’s body lying in a pool of blood. Police and senior officials were promptly informed.

Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. The body has been taken into custody and sent for a post-mortem examination. The reason behind the jawan’s suicide is currently unknown, and no suicide note has been recovered. The police are conducting inquiries, and the incident has sent shockwaves through the camp.
