  • Teaser of Bob Marley’s biopic Bob Marley: One Love is out

    Paramount Pictures dropped the trailer of the upcoming biopic of Bob Marley titled Bob Marley: One Love on Thursday. The film stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as the late reggae musician. Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, who is best known for helming Oscar-nominated pic King Richard, the film will hit the theatres on January 12, 2024.

    The trailer begins with a concert scene, where the crowd chants “Marley, Marley”. It then proceeds to showcase some critical moments in Bob Marley’s life, including the assassination attempt on him and his wife, his life in Jamaica, and his rise to fame. The trailer concludes with the musician’s famous quote, “One love, one heart, one destiny.”

    The film stars Lashana Lynch as Bob’s wife, Rita Marley. And rest of the cast includes Anthony Welsh, Tosin Cole, Sundra Oakley, Nadine Marshall, Umi Myers, Nestor Aaron Absera and James Norton, among others. 

    Written by Zach Baylin, Frank E. Flowers, and Terence Winter, Bob Marley: One Love is produced in partnership with the Marley family. Marley’s son Ziggy Marley serves as the producer.

  • Kingsley Ben-Adir to headline Bob Marley biopic

    WASHINGTON: Paramount has been developing a biopic on the reggae legend Bob Marley with actor Kingsley Ben-Adir as the lead.

    According to The Hollywood Reporter, ‘King Richard’ director Reinaldo Marcus Green will helm the project for Paramount which will feature ‘One Night in Miami’ star Kingsley Ben-Adir, playing the legendary Jamaican artist who was behind iconic tracks like ‘Get Up, Stand Up’, ‘One Love’, and more.

    ‘King Richard’ writer Zach Baylin who was nominated on Tuesday for an Oscar for the Warner Bros. movie, will pen the screenplay for Marley’s biopic.

    Ziggy Marley, Rita Marley and Cedella Marley will produce on behalf of Tuff Gong. Robert Teitel will also produce the feature that will focus on the life and career of the legend who died of cancer in 1981 at age 36. 

  • Kingsley Ben-Adir lands lead villain role in Marvel series ‘Secret Invasion’

    LOS ANGELES: “One Night in Miami” breakout actor Kingsley Ben-Adir has landed a role in “Secret Invasion”, the upcoming Marvel series for the streamer Disney Plus.

    According to Deadline, the actor will play the lead villain on the show.

    The series will also see Samuel L Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn reprise their Marvel Cinematic Universe characters Nick Fury and the Skrull Talos, respectively, who first met during the events of the ’90s-set “Captain Marvel” (2019).

    Described as a crossover comic event series, “Secret Invasion” will revolve around a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.

    Marvel Studio declined comment.

    For his impressive portrayal of civil rights activist-preacher Malcolm X in Regina King’s “One Night In Miami”, Ben-Adir has been nominated in the rising star category at the BAFTAs and for a Screen Actors Guild award in the outstanding cast in a motion picture.

    His other credits include Showtime’s limited series “The Comey Rule” and the BBC drama “Peaky Blinders”.
