  • Elisabeth Moss replaced by Jessica Biel in drama series ‘Candy’

    WASHINGTON: ‘The Sinner’ fame Jessica Biel will be starring in the true-crime drama series ‘Candy’ where she will be essaying the role of Candy Montgomery.

    Biel will be seen playing a Texas woman who killed her friend Betty Gore with an axe in 1980.

    As per Hollywood Reporter, Biel has replaced Elisabeth Moss, who was originally linked to star in the series. Moss eventually dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.

    Biel will also serve as an executive producer on the series. The show would force the viewers to think why Candy Montgomery who had a good family and professional life would kill her friend from church with an axe.

    Montgomery-Gore case has garnered a lot of attention among the filmmakers and it is one of the two series currently in works on this very topic. Elizabeth Olsen and Lily Rabe are all set to feature in the other adaptation titled ‘Love and Death’ at HBO Max.

    Biel had also served as an executive producer of USA’s ‘The Sinner’ and she had starred in its first season.

    LOS ANGELES: Actor-producer Jessica Biel has boarded “Candy”, a true-crime drama for Hulu, as the lead following the departure of “The Handmaid’s Tale” star Elisabeth Moss from the limited series.

    According to Deadline, Moss dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.

    Now Biel will play the title role of Candy Montgomery, a woman who had it all – until she was accused of killing her friend from church with an axe.

    In 1980, she was put on trial for the murder of Betty Gore, the wife of a man with whom Candy had an affair.

    The series, which comes from Robin Veith and Nick Antosca of “The Act” fame, landed at the streamer last year with Moss in the lead role.

    Veith, who wrote the pilot script, and Antosca will also serve as executive producers along with Alex Hedlund.

    Michael Uppendahl, whose credits include “Mad Men”, “Fargo”, and FX’s “Impeachment: American Crime Story”, will direct the pilot and serve as executive producer.

    Biel will also executive produce the show with her producing partner Michelle Purple through their banner Iron Ocean.

    It is her latest on-screen TV role after starring in “The Sinner”.

    Biel also produces Freeform’s “Cruel Summer” which has been renewed for a second season.

    “Candy” is produced by UCP and 20th Television. 

  • Ellen DeGeneres Show: Justin Timberlake reveals name of second baby with Jessica Biel

    WASHINGTON: American singer-songwriter Justin Timberlake on Sunday (local time) opened up about welcoming a second child with wife Jessica Biel.

    According to E!News, comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres shared a preview clip from her interview with the 39-year-old pop star in which he offered the first-ever confirmation of the little one who arrived in 2020.

    The couple, who married in 2012 and share 5-year-old son Silas, had not revealed they were expecting.

    “His name is Phineas, and he’s awesome and so cute, and nobody’s sleeping,” Justin told Ellen. “But we’re thrilled. We’re thrilled and couldn’t be happier. Very grateful.”

    When Ellen asked how different it is to be parenting two children instead of just one, he quipped, “We don’t see each other anymore.”

    He then added, “It’s a lot of fun, but I guess the saying goes, you go from a zone defense to a man-to-man really quickly. Sort of like, ‘You go get that one, I’ll get this one!’”

    Timberlake said that Silas is thus far enjoying his new role as a big brother.

    The ‘Cry Me A River’ performer continued to say, “Silas is super excited. Right now, he’s very much liking it. Phin can’t walk yet or chase him down, so I don’t know. We’ll see what happens.”

    In July, E! News reported that the pair had welcomed their second baby, citing reports.

    Justin and Jessica have not yet publicly shared a photo of Phineas.
