  • After Twitter, Amazon’s Alexa now claims Jammu and Kashmir is part of China, netizens fume

    Days after microblogging platform Twitter labelled the Indian territory of Leh in Ladakh as part of People’s Republic of China (PRC), Amazon’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered virtual assistant Alexa has now embroiled in a similar controversy.

    The social media backlash against the tech company began after a Twitter user uploaded a video where Alexa categorised Kashmir as a part of China’s territory. “Alexa, Kashmir kis desh ka hissa hai (Alexa, Kashmir is a part of which country?)”, the twitter user asked Alexa in Hindi. The AI-powered Alexa Echo replied, “Ya aapka sawal ka jawab ho sakta hai. Kashmir China mein sthit hai (This can be an answer to your question. Kashmir is located in China).” Another Twitter user then tried finding the same answer about the location of Kashmir. Alexa replied, “This can be an answer to your question. Kashmir is located in China.Opindia has independently verified the claims made on social media about Alexa. However, the error is only limited to the Hindi version. When the language is changed to English, Alexa says that Kashmir is a part of Northern India.

  • Security personnel killed a terrorist in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam

    A militant was killed in an encounter between security forces and militants in Budgam in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir police said that the encounter started in the Chadoura area of ​​Budgam. In the Budgam encounter, a militant has been killed by the security forces, police and security forces are taking action.

    Police said that this encounter is going on between SOG Chadura, 53 RR and CRPF joint team and the terrorists. A joint search operation is being carried out by the police and security forces.

    Significantly, two unidentified terrorists were killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists on Wednesday in Chakura area of ​​Shopian district of South Kashmir. Security forces received specific information about the hiding of terrorists, on which they conducted a search operation. As the security forces surrounded the positions of the terrorists, the terrorists hiding there started firing on the security forces. After this, the encounter started.

  • Jammu and Kashmir: Encounter in Kulgam, security forces killed two terrorists

     An encounter is going on between security forces and terrorists in Kulgam of Jammu and Kashmir. In this encounter, the security forces have killed two terrorists so far. Kashmir zone police has confirmed the death of two terrorists. However, the identity of the slain terrorists is not known yet. Operation of security forces is still going on in the area. Many more terrorists are suspected to be hiding here. 

    It is being told that in the early hours of today, security forces were informed about the presence of terrorists in Chingam of Kulgam. After which the security forces started a search operation in the area. Then the terrorists started firing on the soldiers and then the encounter started. So far, two terrorists have been piled by security forces in this encounter.

    Earlier on Wednesday, three terrorists were killed by security forces during an encounter in Shopian district. According to the police, on receipt of the presence of the terrorists, security forces conducted a search operation in Sugan village of Janapora on Tuesday evening. The search operation turned into an encounter when the militants opened fire on the security forces. Three militants were killed in an encounter that ended on Wednesday morning.

  • BSF officer killed, four others injured in blast inside BoP in Samba sector

    A senior BSF officer was killed in a blast under mysterious circumstances in one of the border outposts in Samba sector of Jammu frontier while four others received critical injuries, on Monday. The injured were immediately rushed to the military hospital in Jammu. BSF spokesman in Jammu confirmed, “one BSF officer was killed in a blast at a BoP in Samba sector on Monday”. The deceased officer was identified as Assistance Commandant Jabbar Singh.

    Two inspectors and two sub-inspectors received critical injuries in the blast.  Unconfirmed reports claimed,  during grenade practice inside BoP  one Assistant Commander, Jabbar Singh, was killed while four others were injured.
