In a gesture of growing Indo-European camaraderie, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Luxembourg’s Grand Duke Guillaume on Tuesday during his ongoing tour. The meeting, held in Luxembourg City, focused on fortifying bilateral bonds and exploring new collaborative frontiers.

Jaishankar promptly posted an image of the cordial interaction on X, describing it as a privilege. He relayed President Droupadi Murmu’s sincere regards and commended the Grand Duke’s favorable views on India along with proactive steps to enhance their partnership.

Preceding this, Jaishankar’s conversation with Deputy PM Xavier Bettel spotlighted high-potential areas including financial technology, aerospace, digital infrastructure, and AI. ‘Our time offers fascinating challenges in fintech, space, digital realms, and AI—domains where we can collaborate more effectively,’ he stated optimistically.

Noting the vibrant Indian diaspora in Luxembourg, Jaishankar looked forward to evening interactions with the community. He highlighted the robust trade foundation as a springboard for advanced cooperation. ‘The world’s current dynamics make these discussions particularly timely; I’m sure open exchanges will yield benefits for both sides,’ he added.

Gratitude flowed towards Bettel for the enthusiastic reception and dedication to bilateral renewal. This visit arrives at a juncture when India seeks to amplify its influence in cutting-edge sectors, positioning Luxembourg as a key ally in Europe’s innovation landscape.

Analysts view these interactions as harbingers of deepened economic ties, with fintech and AI collaborations potentially unlocking new markets and investment flows between the nations.
