  • ISIS module: Six arrested after NIA raids 7 locations in Kashmir

    Express News Service
SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday raided seven locations in Kashmir in a case regarding online radicalisation by Islamic State in India and arrested six suspects, including the head of a Darul Uloom (Islamic seminary).

The NIA team accompanied by police and paramilitary personnel did simultaneous raids in Srinagar and Anantnag in south Kashmir. The case was registered by NIA on June 29 under IPC and UAPA in connection with the conspiracy of the ISIS to radicalise and recruit youth to wage violent jihad against the Indian state, an NIA officer said, adding that an organised campaign was launched on the cyber space which is supplemented by on ground terror financing activities.

Sources said the NIA raided the Darul Uloom at Nawab Bazar area in downtown Srinagar. “During the search of the Darul Uloom, NIA seized a laptop and some office records. They also arrested the head of the Darul Uloom.” During the raids at Pushroo, Sunsooma, and Achabal in Anantnag district, the NIA sleuths arrested six persons including a garment dealer, a chemist, a laboratory technician, two shopkeepers and the Darul Uloom head.

An NIA spokesperson said the multiple raids led to confiscation of incriminating documents and digital devices. The spokesperson added ISIS militants operating from various conflict zones along with those in India, by assuming pseudo-online identities, have created a network wherein ISIS-related propaganda material is disseminated for radicalising and recruiting new members.

“In this connection an India-centric online propaganda magazine ‘the Voice of Hind’ is published on monthly basis with an aim to incite and radicalise impressionable youth by projecting a skewed narrative to arouse a feeling of alienation and communal hatred,” the spokesperson said. The NIA raids took place a day after the J&K government sacked 11 government employees, including two sons of Hizbul chief Syed Salahuddin, for their alleged involvement in anti-national activities.

  • Bombay HC reserves verdict on NIA challenge to bail for alleged ex-ISIS member Areeb Majeed

    By PTI
MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court on Thursday reserved its verdict on an appeal filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) challenging the bail granted to alleged former ISIS member Areeb Majeed.

During the arguments, a division bench of Justices SS Shinde and Manish Pitale observed that if Majeed had utilized his abilities in a different way instead of heading for war-torn Syria, it would have been a matter of joy to his family as well the country.

The NIA has alleged that Majeed travelled to Syria to join the terrorist group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and later returned to India to carry out terror activities. He was arrested in November 2014 under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

In March 2020, he was granted bail by a special NIA court. Opposing the NIA’s appeal, Majeed claimed that he had gone to Syria only “to help people”, and denied the central agency’s allegations. The judges then asked why a 21-year-old would even think of going to Iraq and Syria.

“Why would a 21-year-old go to Iraq for people who he has never met in his life by leaving his family behind? Don’t you have enough suffering around you,” the bench asked.

Before reserving its order, the HC asked Majeed what would he do if he continues to be out on bail. Majeed said he would get a degree in law. “If you had utilized your abilities to the best at the age of 21 it would have been a matter of joy for the family and for the country,” Justice Pitale stated.

They said that the reason for mobs lining was also unemployment. Not only that, according to him, the situation of civil war in India and the cause of the rise of ISIS are unemployed.

Even today in the UK, Rahul Gandhi gave oxygen to these elements, which have flourished in Pakistan by giving similar statements today. He has done with the RSS’s Tulu Brotherhood Organization.

Encouraged by the Pakistan-funded Hurriyat, separatist elements throw stones at the Indian army. At that time, infiltrated terrorists from Pakistan often attack Amarnath pilgrims.

The way Kashmir and ISI flags are being wiped by the said separatist elements in Kashmir, in the same way, the separatist elements are involved in violent action by the assassination of the Congress and other opposition parties in other areas of India.

Today news of attack on Kadiyadis in Malpura of Tonk and Bareilly has been received. It is worth mentioning here that this Malpura region of Rahul Gandhi’s guide Ashok Gehlot is dear. Only Gehlot has been able to get the culprit active at all times. Earlier, violent riots have taken place and anti-India slogans have been floating by blowing the ISI and Pak’s flag.

This incident has happened in Bareilly too today. The people are careful about Rahul Gandhi’s speeches that disrespect India and dissolve the unity of the country and the false rumors of CM Vijayan of Kerala and keep the unity in the country.
