  • CSK Vs RCB Playing 11 IPL 2024: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis To Open? Rachin Ravindra Replaces Devon Conway? Check Here | cricket news

RCB's star batsman Virat Kohli will be back as they take on CSK in a blockbuster IPL 2024 opening clash at MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai on Friday. It will be a fantastic sight when CSK captain MS Dhoni and Kohli meet each other on the sidelines of the match. Dhoni is among the greatest captains to have ever played the game and Kohli, one of the modern-day batting greats. They are the best of friends off the field even if they want to beat each other in IPL, on the field.

It would not be easy for RCB to beat CSK in their homeground. If you look closely at their squads, CSK have built their team according to their home conditions, with a spin-heavy bowling attack. RCB don't have the same quality in their spin attack.

If RCB can somehow manage a win in the opening contest and Kohli has a good game, it will do their confidence a lot of good going further into the tournament.

    Kohli to open with Faf?

This seems to be the ideal scenario for RCB who have many good T20 specialists in the middle order in the form of Suyash Prabhudesai, Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik. Not to forget, RCB traded in Cameron Green from Mumbai Indians and they must look to play their Rs 17.5 crore player from game one.

As far as CSK are concerned, they will need to replace Devon Conway at the top and one able replacement option is available in the form of another Kiwi Rachin Ravindra. There is no Matheesha Pathirana which means Dhoni must play Mustafizur Rahman as the death-overs specialist in this IPL.

RCB Vs CSK Probable Playing 11s:

RCB: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis (Overseas), Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell (overseas), Suyash Prabhudesai, Dinesh Karthik, Cameron Green (Overseas), Mahipal Lomror, Reece Tooley (Overseas), Mohammed Siraj, Karn Sharma

CSK: Rachin Ravindra (Overseas), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Daryl Mitchell (Overseas), MS Dhoni, Mitchell Santner (Overseas), Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Mustafizur Rahman (Overseas).

  • Rajasthan Royals' SWOT Analysis Ahead Of IPL 2024: Strong Top Order And Spin Attack But No Quality All-Rounders | cricket news

The stage is set, the stakes are high, and anticipation reverberates through the cricketing world as the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) looms large on the horizon. Among the contenders vying for glory stands the Rajasthan Royals (RR), a team steeped in history and determined to carve its legacy once more in the annals of cricketing greatness. Led by the dynamic Sanju Samson, RR embarks on a journey filled with promise, potential, and the pursuit of excellence.

    Sunday the King rides. __ pic.twitter.com/b23wXPaqfN — Rajasthan Royals (@rajasthanroyals) March 17, 2024

    Strengths

RR's batting arsenal boasts an array of talent, headlined by the explosive trio of Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. With Jaiswal's breathtaking displays in the previous season, Buttler's match-winning prowess, and Samson's astute leadership, the team's top order exudes confidence and capability, ready to unleash havoc upon opposition bowlers. In the spin department, RR possesses a lethal combination of experience and skill. With Yuzvendra Chahal, Adam Zampa, and Ravichandran Ashwin in their ranks, the team boasts a formidable trio capable of bamboozling even the most adept of batters. Their ability to wield control in the middle overs and turn the tide of matches makes them invaluable assets in RR's quest for IPL supremacy.

    Weaknesses

Following the departure of Jason Holder, RR finds itself with limited options in the all-rounder department. With only Ravichandran Ashwin providing a semblance of balance, the team faces challenges in achieving the desired flexibility and depth in its squad composition. While RR boasts quality pace options in Trent Boult and Nandre Burger, concerns linger over the team's ability to contain opposition batsmen. The absence of consistent, economical performers among the remaining pacers raises questions about RR's potency in the death overs, a crucial phase of T20 contests.

    Opportunities

After falling short of expectations in the previous season, RR is eager to reclaim its status as a dominant force in the IPL. With a talented squad brimming with potential, the team is poised to turn the tide and script a memorable chapter in its storied history. As the IPL serves as a gateway to international recognition, RR players have their sights set on securing berths in India's T20 World Cup squad. With standout performers like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson eyeing national selection, IPL 2024 serves as a platform for players to showcase their mettle on the global stage.

    Threats

The form of key players, particularly Jos Buttler and Prasidh Krishna, remains a cause for apprehension. Inconsistent performances could undermine RR's quest for success and undermine their aspirations for IPL glory. While RR's top order sparkles with talent and promise, concerns linger over the stability and reliability of the middle order. Should Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell falter, the burden of anchoring the innings falls on young shoulders like Dhruv Jurel, exposing the team to potential vulnerabilities in crucial match situations.

  • Team DC Full List of Players IPL 2024: Check Delhi Capitals Full Schedule, Players List, Captain & Vice-Captain, Possible Playing XI, Venue, Injury Updates, All you need to know | cricket news

Delhi Capitals will be back to their full strength in IPL 2024 with return of captain Rishabh Pant. DC will be hoping for a turnaround this season after they failed to make it to the playoffs for two consecutive times in 2022 and 2023. Last year, they were led by David Warner and did not finish it even top 5. Ricky Ponting, head coach , feels that with Pant back, 2024 could be there season.

DC have made it to just one IPL final, in 2020, when they lost to Mumbai Indians (MI). It will take a lot of effort on their part to clinch the first-ever title. The fact that their two international stars are not playing this season due to respective reasons is a huge blow to them.

Harry Brook of England pulled out of the IPL due to personal reasons. He later clarified that he and his family are currently grieving the loss of his grandmother. Brook missed the England tour of India as well due to the same reason. Ngidi is skipping IPL because he has a lower-back injury. South Africa would ideally want their pacer to become fit by the T20 World Cup that starts in June.

It will be interesting to see how Prithvi Shaw goes in this year's IPL. His stocks have fallen in the last 3 years since getting dropped from Team India Test squad. His good show in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy did win him a place in the T20I side last year but he did not get a game in that series. For Shaw to earn his place, he needs to have a blast in the IPL to turn the heads of the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar.

This will probably be the last IPL for David Warner, who recently retired from the Test team. Warner is 37 and one does not know if he would want to continue playing all formats after IPL 2024 is over.

  • IPL 2024: Ishan Kishan Copies Lasith Malinga's Bowling Action – WATCH | cricket news

Ahead of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), the Mumbai Indians' camp appears to be brimming with excitement as they gear up for the tournament. With all eyes on newly appointed captain Hardik Pandya, the team atmosphere is notably buoyant. Adding to the lively atmosphere, star Indian batsman Ishan Kishan joined in on the fun. The 25-year-old entertained his teammates by impersonating the team's bowling coach, Lasith Malinga, during a training session.

Mumbai Indians shared a clip of Ishan sporting a colored wig resembling Malinga's iconic hairstyle. Back in Mumbai Indians colours, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya on Friday vowed to play a brand of cricket which no one will forget as he leads the five-time champions this IPL season. Pandya was traded by MI from Gujarat Titans ahead of the upcoming season. He made his IPL debut with MI in 2015 and won four titles with the side before joining GT in 2022. He lead GT to a title win in the same season.

“The feeling of wearing this color is very special for me. Journey started here, coming back home and playing is always going to be special,” said Pandya, who replaces Rohit Sharma as captain, in a video posted by the franchise on social media. .

“We will make sure we will play a brand of cricket which all will be proud of and at the same point of time it's going to be a ride no one will forget.”

Pandya was welcomed back with open arms by MI head coach Mark Boucher, who backed him to do well. (IPL 2024: LSG Welcome Gabba Test Hero Shamar Joseph With Hilarious Dig At Australia – WATCH)

“He (Pandya) certainly knows the changing room better than what I do. It's sort of homecoming for couple of people.”He has fitted in really well and is excited for the season. We look forward to having him back and winning some games for Mumbai Indians again,” told Boucher in another MI video.

“At the start of each season, everyone is very excited. There's a couple of new faces around, so there's a little bit of nerves as well. We would like building up to the start of the season.”

  • KKR Captain Shreyas Iyer Likely To Miss IPL 2024's First Phase Due To Same Back Injury Which Ruled Him Out Of 2023 Season | cricket news

In what could be a huge blow to the hopes of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of Indian Premier League's next season (IPL 2024), captain Shreyas Iyer could miss the few initial games due to back injury. It is the same back injury because of which Iyer had missed the complee IPL 2023. Iyer recently played a knock of 95 runs in the Ranji Trophy final and a report in Times of India says that it is this knock which has led to the injury resurfacing. .

Iyer had undergone a back surgery last year before making a comeback just before the World Cup. He played four months of international cricket before complaining of the back pain again. Confusion remained over why Iyer was not picked in the last 3 Tests squad. India coach Rahul Dravid had said that Iyer had missed out on the selection while the batsman has reportedly told BCCI he had back issues and that was the reason why he did not even play a Ranji Trophy match for Mumbai.

Medical team of National Cricket Academy, reportedly, informed BCCI that there was no issue with Iyer. BCCI dropped him from the central contracts post which Iyer was seen playing the final of the Ranji Trophy.

A BCCI source has been quoted as saying to Times of India that Iyer's injury is not looking good and is in danger of missing the first few games of IPL.

“It is not looking good. It is the same back injury which has got aggravated. It is unlikely that he will take the field on Day 5 of the Ranji Trophy final. He is in danger of missing the initial matches of the IPL,” said the BCCI source.

Not to forget, during his 95-run knock for Mumbai, Iyer took medical assistance twice as he was clearly uncomfortable. He did not take the field for Mumbai on Day 4 and likely to be missing on Day 5 as well due to the same injury.

KKR play their first match of IPL 2024 on March 23 and if Iyer does not reach full fitness in the next 8 days, he is likely to miss the team's opening game. If that happens, it will be interesting to see KKR's stance on this as if Iyer was not completely fit, then how did NCA clear him to play the Ranji final. That is the big question.

  • 'You Get Injured 2 Months Before IPL', Praveen Kumar Slams Hardik Pandya, Asks Him To Prioritize Country Over Franchise. cricket news

IPL 2024 is not far away. The league starts on March 22 with the first match between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Fans are going to see some new things in the next edition, including some new captains. Pat Cummins, for example, has taken over captaincy duties at Sunrisers Hyderabad. Likewise, we will see a new captain at Mumbai Indians. Who would have thought that such a line would be written about MI so soon.

Last year, in what was one of the most talked-about trades in IPL history, Hardik Pandya came back to Mumbai Indians and a few days later, he was also named as the captain, replacing Rohit Sharma, who won them the championship a record. five times. Rohit's ouster was not welcomed by his fans and majority of the MI fan base. MI saw a huge dip in their Instagram fan following but the management did not go back on the decision. Head coach Mark Boucher was later heard saying on a podcast about the decision, saying the fans went emotional but the decision was purely based on cricketing logic as MI aims to prepare a captain for future.

Former India pacer Praveen Kumar's video, now, is going viral in which he can be heard speaking about Pandya's habit of getting injured just two months before IPL. He felt that Pandya is among the cricketers who are giving importance only to IPL and are ignoring national duty as well as domestic cricket. One cannot understand whether this video is new or from old times but after listening to what he is saying, one understands that it is a video of recent times.

“You get injured two months before the IPL, you don't play for the country, you don't play for your state in domestic cricket, and just directly play in the IPL. That's not how things should be done. It's okay to earn money, there's nothing wrong with that. But you have to play for state and country and now people only give importance to the IPL),” Praveen Kumar said in the now viral interview clip.

Watch the Praveen Kumar clip here:

The clip is going viral on the internet and may have reached Pandya's phone as well. If the MI captain watches it, he will surely look to give a fitting reply to Praveen, by playing some outstanding knocks in the league and taking MI to the record-extending sixth title.

With the T20 World Cup scheduled after IPL 2024, Pant's potential availability could be crucial for team selection considerations.

DC's director of cricket, Sourav Ganguly recently said that the team will not rush Rishabh Pant's return in excitement.

“He has done everything to get fit and that's the reason NCA will clear him. Let Rishabh get cleared on Mar 5 only then we'll talk about captaincy backups. We are taking a cautious approach with him because he has a very long career ahead. of him. We don't want to push him in excitement. We will see how Rishabh reacts. He will be joining the camp once NCA gives him the clearance. We will see match by match. We can't predict,” said Ganguly. .
