Indian Railways is redefining connectivity with approval for 100 ambitious projects worth ₹1.53 lakh crore, covering more than 6,000 km of new and upgraded tracks. This fiscal year 2025-26 rollout under PM Gati Shakti eclipses last year’s efforts, with a 56% jump in project numbers, 114% in coverage, and over 110% in investment from ₹72,869 crore for 2,800 km.

From new lines and multi-tracking to strategic bypasses and flyovers, the focus is on easing congestion, slashing travel times, and linking far-flung, impoverished areas. Maharashtra leads with 17 projects, followed by Bihar (11), Jharkhand (10), and Madhya Pradesh (9), targeting freight efficiency and passenger comfort in logistics hubs.

Standout investments feature the massive Kasara-Manmad upgrade at ₹10,150 crore, Kharasia-Naya Raipur lines at ₹8,740 crore, Itarsi-Nagpur fourth line at ₹5,450 crore, and Secunderabad-Wadi expansions. Over 35 projects exceed ₹1,000 crore each, fortifying trunk routes under the ‘Mission 3000 MT’ for enhanced freight capacity.

Energy corridors ensure swift coal and mineral transport, high-density upgrades reduce bottlenecks, and port-focused initiatives amplify trade. Beyond infrastructure, these efforts integrate tribal regions via lines like Raoghat-Jagdalpur, unlocking access to markets, healthcare, and jobs. The ripple effects? Explosive employment, lower logistics expenses, and accelerated GDP growth, positioning railways as the backbone of a unified India.

In a significant boost to Bihar’s development agenda, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar spearheaded the inauguration and groundbreaking of over 300 projects across Munger and Lakhisarai on Thursday as part of the ongoing ‘Samriddhi Yatra’ fourth leg. This whirlwind tour highlights the state’s relentless drive toward inclusive growth.

Munger saw action first, with Kumar laying foundations for 26 ventures and opening 52 ready-to-use facilities. He mingled with crowds at various stalls, disbursed financial aid, and held personal conversations with those benefiting from government schemes. The Airport Ground rally turned into a platform for inspiration, where the CM reminisced about his long political journey and rallied supporters for a ‘Viksit Bihar.’

His plea for undivided attention resonated: ‘Keep your focus sharp. Missing even a word means losing key insights into our plans.’ Post-Munger, the convoy headed to Lakhisarai, where Kumar delved into the futuristic Kajra Solar Plant, examining models and operations while enjoying youthful cultural displays.

The district received a major fillip with 144 foundations laid remotely and 117 projects handed over amid cheers. Addressing gatherings, Kumar reiterated pledges for all-round advancement, celebrating community involvement. Notable attendees included federal and state heavyweights like Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Samrat Choudhary, and Vijay Kumar Sinha.

This yatra isn’t just events; it’s a bridge between governance and grassroots, illuminating Bihar’s progress and gathering on-ground inputs to refine the development blueprint.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off a new era of aviation in Rajasthan by laying the virtual foundation stone for the ambitious Kota-Bundi Greenfield Airport. Speaking at the event, he hailed it as a historic milestone for the Hadoti belt encompassing Kota, Bundi, Baran, and Jhalawar.

Costing around Rs 1,500 crore, this greenfield project is poised to supercharge the local economy and improve air links dramatically. Modi reminisced about his November 2023 commitment in Kota, assuring locals that the airport dream was turning into reality. ‘No more hassles of traveling to Jaipur or Jodhpur for flights—this will make journeys seamless and business brisk,’ he affirmed.

Beyond academics, Kota shines as an energy epicenter with diverse power generation capabilities. Its cultural and religious significance is profound, attracting devotees from across India and abroad to sacred spots like Mathuradheesh Temple, Keshavray Patan Tirth, and Godavari Balaji.

The region’s infrastructure renaissance includes revamped railway stations via Amrit Bharat, and the transformative Delhi-Mumbai Expressway slicing through Kota and Bundi. Distances to metros have shrunk, spurring industrial setups, particularly in agriculture.

‘Air connectivity will now complement road and rail, driving accelerated development,’ PM Modi stated. This airport isn’t just runways and terminals; it’s a gateway to enhanced trade, tourism, and opportunities, positioning Hadoti as a key player in India’s growth story.

In a landmark event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi kickstarted a transformative phase for Puducherry by launching development projects exceeding ₹2,700 crore. Focused on robust infrastructure, public amenities, industry, education, healthcare excellence, and eco-friendly expansion, these initiatives promise a brighter future.

PM Modi’s speech resonated with pride for Puducherry’s rich heritage—from Subramania Bharati’s patriotic fervor to the global spiritual insights of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. ‘Visiting this sacred land is a privilege,’ he said.

He revisited the ‘BEST’ vision—Business, Education, Spirituality, Tourism—introduced earlier, crediting four-plus years of collaborative governance for tangible progress. When Delhi and Puducherry align visions, outcomes are accelerated and exemplary.

Boasting top per capita income growth and the nation’s highest social progress score, Puducherry is set for more under NDA’s dual governance. The day’s unveilings underscore this commitment.

Nationally, infrastructure gets unprecedented ₹12 lakh crore in the budget, extending benefits to Puducherry via special capital schemes. Expect superior roads, reliable water, coastal enhancements, advanced schools, and hospitals.

Highlights: Electric buses via PM e-Bus Sewa, Smart City’s control center, EWS housing under CITIIS, sewage-water overhauls. NIT Karaikal’s new blocks and hostels, JIPMER cancer center upgrades, Pondicherry University expansions inaugurated. The vast Karasur-Sedarapet industrial park opened, with new water projects, 41 rural roads, heritage revival, and mangrove protection launched.

This infusion of investment cements Puducherry’s role as a hub of innovation, spirituality, and prosperity.

In a significant boost for Ganderbal district, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday greenlit multiple development projects valued at Rs 80 crore, focusing on health, water, drainage, and transportation. The event marked his return to the region he calls home, after a brief absence due to legislative duties.

Speaking at the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony, Abdullah highlighted the urgency of these initiatives. “Several projects were ready for launch or groundwork here in Ganderbal. Today, we’ve inaugurated or started Rs 80 crore worth of essential works,” he announced.

Key among them: installation of CT scan equipment at the district hospital to enhance diagnostic capabilities; several new water supply schemes to ensure potable water reaches every household; a district-wide drainage project to combat flooding and improve hygiene; and a vital bypass road to ease traffic congestion.

“These are crucial for Ganderbal’s progress, and implementation will kick off immediately,” the CM affirmed.

On the issue of Kashmiri students encountering problems at Punjab University, Abdullah promised intervention. “This is an internal university matter, but I’ll speak directly with Punjab’s CM. Given their consistent support for J&K, I trust they’ll act swiftly. We’ll resolve all student grievances through dialogue with the varsity.”

Commenting on the recently concluded Khelo India Winter Games, he lauded Gulmarg’s suitability while cautioning about climate shifts. “Gulmarg is unparalleled, yet evolving weather requires proactive strategies.”

Defending Rahul Gandhi amid political debates, Abdullah quipped, “Rahul takes on the BJP relentlessly across platforms – isn’t that exactly what an opposition figure should do? What shortfall are we talking about?”

Abdullah’s visit underscores a commitment to accelerating development in Ganderbal while addressing youth concerns and national discourse.

The Modi-led CCEA has approved a game-changing infrastructure project: upgrading NH-56’s Dhamasiya-Bitda and Movie-Nasarpor-Maloatha sections in Gujarat to four lanes at a whopping ₹4,583.64 crore. Covering 107.67 km, this HAM-mode initiative promises faster travel and economic upliftment.

Stretching from Rajasthan’s Nimbahera through Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, NH-56 ends near Vapi. The new four-laning will connect Narmada district to tribal-dominated areas in Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Tapi, and Bharuch, fostering trade, agriculture, and industry.

A standout benefit? Improved access to the world-famous Statue of Unity, elevating tourism prospects. Designed for 100 km/h top speeds with 70 km/h averages, journeys will shrink by 40%, from 2.5 to 1.5 hours, saving time and fuel for millions.

Job creation is massive: 19.38 lakh direct and 22.82 lakh indirect man-days, plus ancillary opportunities from booming local businesses. This builds on NHAI’s parallel drive to four-lane 175 km from Jambughoda (Bodeli) to Maloatha in four packages. Key contracts are in place, construction rolling since late 2025, aiming for two-year completion.

Full four-laning from Bodeli to Maloatha will ease NH-56 congestion, seamlessly integrating with NH-53, NH-48, and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. This corridor isn’t just roads—it’s a lifeline for Gujarat’s tribal heartlands, propelling inclusive growth.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has labeled the freshly unveiled Union Budget 2026-27 a true game-changer, applauding Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s vision for India’s future. Presented on February 1 in Parliament, the budget zeroes in on empowering MSMEs, skilling the workforce, building world-class infrastructure, and strengthening health and education sectors.

Taking to social media platform X, Modi elaborated on the budget’s transformative elements: from regulatory reforms and MSME support to skill enhancement programs and futuristic infra projects. ‘This is our roadmap to economic resurgence,’ he stated.

At the heart of the budget lies robust support for micro, small, and medium enterprises, which power 30% of GDP and sustain over 110 million jobs. Measures include easier loans, regulatory easing, and incentives for global market integration, enabling these businesses to innovate and expand amid competitive landscapes.

Employment generation through skill training is another cornerstone. The government proposes industry-academia collaborations to train youth in high-growth areas like renewables, AI-driven manufacturing, and digital tools, bridging the skill gap effectively.

Massive investments flow into infrastructure, covering digital highways, green energy grids, efficient logistics, and smart cities. These projects promise to streamline trade, boost connectivity, and spur regional development.

Prioritizing human capital, the budget ramps up funding for healthcare and education, introducing reforms to reach marginalized communities. This comes at a critical juncture, with global supply chain shifts offering India strategic opportunities.

Analysts view the budget as a masterstroke in fiscal discipline and forward-looking investments, reinforcing India’s economic resilience and growth trajectory.

In a resounding endorsement, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri declared the Union Budget 2026-27 a mirror to India’s evolved economy, brimming with confidence post-2014 reforms. Speaking to journalists in Dehradun…

In a resounding endorsement, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri declared the Union Budget 2026-27 a mirror to India’s evolved economy, brimming with confidence post-2014 reforms. Speaking to journalists in Dehradun on Saturday, he described the fiscal blueprint as a masterclass in balancing aggressive development with prudent fiscal management.

India’s ascent from the ‘Fragile Five’ label to the fourth-largest global economy—and a beacon of steady growth—forms the backdrop of this budget, Puri observed. It reinforces the groundwork of the last decade, positioning the nation for elevated global influence.

With consumption and investments firing on all cylinders, FY2026 GDP growth is forecasted at 7.4%, dwarfing the world’s projected 3% rate. This streak cements India’s status as the premier fast-growing powerhouse among major economies for the fourth year running.

Inflation management stole the spotlight next. India led major economies with a 1.8% drop in 2025, averaging 1.7% from April to December due to softening vegetable and pulse prices. This low-inflation environment stands in stark contrast to peers in developed and emerging markets.

Puri detailed the capex revolution since 2014: ₹12.2 lakh crore allocated for 2026-27, a 430% jump from 2013-14 levels. Highway funding ballooned 500%, defense over 210%, health nearly 176%, and education beyond 110%. ‘Infrastructure is now our growth accelerator,’ he affirmed, citing how each rupee on highways yields ₹3.2 in GDP—a testament to strategic spending’s power.

As global uncertainties loom, this budget exudes maturity, paving India’s path to sustained prosperity and leadership.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Modi government’s 15th Union Budget on February 1, spotlighting defense, infrastructure, and capital investments. With economists predicting focused allocations for power…

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Modi government’s 15th Union Budget on February 1, spotlighting defense, infrastructure, and capital investments. With economists predicting focused allocations for power reforms and affordable housing, the budget promises to juggle growth imperatives with fiscal responsibility.

Global headwinds demand a balanced strategy: fueling development without compromising on deficit control. The fiscal deficit, slashed from 9.2% in the pandemic era to an estimated 4.4% this fiscal year, reflects robust consolidation efforts that experts believe will persist.

Shifting from broad-based tax incentives in the previous budget, which spurred middle-class spending, this edition may opt for selective consumption boosters. Strategic capex hikes, particularly in geopolitically sensitive areas, are highlighted in Motilal Oswal’s India Strategy report.

Investors will scrutinize borrowing plans and deficit targets, as per DBS Bank analysis, with implications rippling through bond yields. The Economic Survey paints an optimistic picture, projecting 6.8-7.2% growth for the coming year—robust despite a minor dip from current levels.

Sitharaman’s ninth budget speech cements her historic legacy as India’s pioneering female Finance Minister delivering consecutive presentations. Even on a Sunday, equity markets will buzz with activity, ensuring immediate market feedback on fiscal measures.

As geopolitical tensions simmer and economic uncertainties loom, Budget 2026-27 emerges as a blueprint for India’s fortified future, blending ambition with accountability to propel the nation toward its vision of Viksit Bharat.
