  • Madhya Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Sakhlecha on inflation: no problems in life, no joy

    CHHATARPUR: Putting a philosophical spin on inflation, Madhya Pradesh minister Om Prakash Sakhlecha said here on Saturday that without problems, happiness in life can not be savored.

    “In life, problems give us the idea of happiness. If there is no problem, there is no sense of happiness,” said Sankhlecha, the minister for MSME, Science and Technology.

    He was replying to a question by reporters about people facing the pain of rising prices of fuel and other essential commodities after going through the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

    When asked if price rise was a failure of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, Sakhlecha said, “This could be the thinking of people like you who are spreading rumors.”

    The Congress took 40 years to administer polio vaccine but Modi had COVID-19 vaccine manufactured and administered across the country within a year, he said.

    Sakhlecha, who is minister in-charge of Chhatarpur district, was here to participate in a few programs.

  • Domestic Electricity Consumers saved Rs 1645 crore during the time of inflation

    Chhattisgarh Government’s Half Electricity Bill Scheme has brought relief to lakhs of consumers during inflation. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, State Government has provided domestic subsidy of Rs 1645 crore to 38 lakh 68 thousand 462 electricity consumers under this scheme. In other words, people have directly saved Rs 1645 crore. 

    It is noteworthy that many schemes are being conducted in Chhattisgarh to provide electricity supply at concessional rates to farmers and poor families. In March 2019, the new government launched a new scheme for domestic electricity consumers ‘Half Electricity Bill Scheme’, under which 50% concession is given to the domestic consumers on consumption of upto 400 units of electricity.

  • 4 Of 5 Pakistanis Think Country Headed In Wrong Direction; Survey Exposes Imran Khan Govt

    According to the latest survey by research company IPSOS, four out of every five persons in PM Imran Khan-led Pakistan view that the country is headed in the wrong direction. Citing the report that was released on Tuesday, The News International reported that only 23% of people believe that the country is moving towards the right direction and 77% believe otherwise. More than 1,000 people from all over the country participated in the survey which was conducted between December 1 and December 6, 2020.

    In 2019, in the fourth quarter, 21% of people believed that the country was headed on the right track, while 79% had a contrasting opinion. This year, 36% of people said that their current personal financial situation is weak, 13% characterised it as strong and 51% said it is neither strong nor weak, The News International said. Meanwhile, on province-wise assessment, the report found that a “poor financial situation” featured in almost all the provinces and inflation ranked number 1 among the list of top 4 contributors to the desperate situation.

  • Wholesale price-based inflation at 1.55 pc in November, against 1.48 pc in previous month: Govt data

    The rate of inflation, based on monthly Wholesale Price Index, stood at 1.55% (provisional) for the month of November, 2020 (over November, 2019) as compared to 0.58% during the corresponding month of the previous year, said Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

    In October, it was 1.48 per cent — marking an eight-month high as manufactured products turned costlier. However, food inflation for November decreased to 4.27 per cent compared to 5.78 per cent in October, data released by the government on Monday showed.

    The food index consisting of food articles from primary articles group and food product from manufactured products group fell from 159.3 in October to 158.9 in November.

    Primary articles inflation was at 2.72 per cent from 4.74 per cent in October. Manufactured products inflation was at 2.97 per cent as compared to 2.12 per cent in October.

    Fuel and power inflation was at minus 9.87 per cent as compared to minus 10.95 per cent in October.
