In a major win for Indian exporters, the United States Supreme Court has invalidated tariffs rolled out under Donald Trump’s administration, sparking jubilation among industry stakeholders in New Delhi. The move promises to invigorate exports, fortify US-India commercial bonds, and generate thousands of employment opportunities in labor-intensive sectors.

Speaking exclusively, Nainesh Pacchigar of the India Bullion and Jewellers Association’s Gujarat wing described the judgment as ‘a boon for the entire gems and jewellery ecosystem.’ Trump’s prior deal had slashed diamond import duties to zero, but jewellery faced punishing 18% rates—now poised for relief.

‘If tariffs are completely lifted and sustained, our exports will surge, injecting vitality into the industry,’ Pacchigar predicted. This boom, he added, would particularly benefit grassroots workers—artisans and jewelers—who form the backbone of this export powerhouse.

Pacchigar cautioned that the US administration’s response is pending; legal challenges could still emerge. Meanwhile, Rajesh Gandhi from the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce painted an even broader picture. A reduction to 10% across-the-board tariffs would open floodgates for textiles, manufacturing, and beyond.

‘Indian products will dominate US shelves with renewed competitiveness,’ Gandhi asserted. Trade bodies in apparel and commerce sectors chimed in, welcoming uniform duties that promise fair play, enhanced market access, and robust trade volumes. As negotiations evolve, India’s industry gears up for a renaissance in transatlantic commerce.

In a major win for Indian exporters, the United States Supreme Court has invalidated tariffs levied by President Donald Trump, a move cheered by industry stalwarts in New Delhi. The decision is expected to fortify trade ties, ramp up shipments to the US, and generate fresh employment across key sectors like jewelry and apparel.

Speaking exclusively, Nainesh Pacchigar of the India Bullion and Jewellers Association’s Gujarat chapter welcomed the court’s declaration of the tariffs as unlawful. While raw diamond imports already enjoy zero duties post a bilateral trade agreement, finished jewelry products have been burdened by steep 18% rates. This verdict promises relief for that segment.

Pacchigar described the outcome as a boon for India’s gems and jewelry ecosystem nationwide. “Sustained tariff removal will propel exports and invigorate the industry,” he said, adding that the export boom would spur job creation among artisan communities dependent on these trades.

The industry leader noted the ruling’s implementation hinges on the US administration’s reaction—potential appeals or legal challenges loom. Echoing these sentiments, Rajesh Gandhi from the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce predicted expansive opportunities if tariffs drop to 10% uniformly.

Indian products will gain a competitive edge in the American marketplace, particularly in textiles, general trade, and manufacturing, Gandhi observed. Representatives from apparel and commerce sectors agreed, arguing that a level 10% tariff field globally would streamline trade, intensify rivalry, and elevate India’s market share in the US.

As this legal triumph unfolds, India’s trade narrative with the world’s largest economy looks brighter, with projections of heightened exports translating into economic momentum and workforce expansion.
